It is rare to find a business that is exceptional in every way. Residence At Summer Street is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING in every category for a senior community!! Elegant, refined and beautiful decor/dining room/facilities/apartments, Friendly & caring management & staff, wonderful & cheerful Nursing & CNAs, Pristine & clean environment, Healthy & delicious food, Fun & informative daily entertainment, Safe & efficient transportation, Super interesting and kind residents = Summer Street has it all. How proud they should be to provide a safe & beautiful home away from home for their residents. Do not change a thing! BRAVO!
I can't express how grateful my family is for the high level of competency, care and compassion displayed toward our 86-year-old father by the management and staff of the Residence at Summer Street. Not only do they accommodate every one of his needs, but they graciously indulge his whims. In an industry where bait-and-switch seems to have become the standard, the Residence is a welcome exception. Hats off to its eminently capable executive director, Jorge Cortizo, whose people skills are unparalleled. Thank you!
The journey to find a place special enough for your parent is never easy. Every facility you visit will insist they're the best and list reasons why. Of the 10+ places we visited in NY/CT area, the Residence at Summer Street was the only place that actually took the time to show us not only why they were the best, but how their philosophies work to enhance residents' last years -- especially in the memory care unit. The level of attention, honesty, engagement, and care at this facility far surpassed every other place we visited. The final decision maker for us was two-fold: 1) Their outstanding record during the pandemic (no losses due to a strict mask protocol with visitors), and 2) their honesty/transparency.I never feel like we're being told anything less than the truth, they genuinely care for their residents, and most importantly, they frankly guide you, the adult child, through the process of what to expect. Communication is excellent, using text messages as well as emails as needed with the staff more than happy to supply the means for video chatting when you're available. We're incredibly grateful for everyone's efforts there with a special shoutout to Julie and Margaret, the respective directors for the Memory Care and Wellness units, as well as -- of course -- Jorge, the Senior Executive Director. You'll want all the help these folks will offer - placing a parent in a residence is never easy. Having these people by your side as you go through the process will help dramatically.
My father is a 93-year-old resident in Memory Care (Reflections) at the Residence of Summer Street. The Residence of Summer Street is a superior facility in comparison to a high-end facility in Florida. The facility always aims to maintain the Resident’s dignity. The care is very comprehensive. My father no longer needs additional aides, which are expensive. The Facility’s Staff dresses and shaves him nicely every day, helps him with his shower, has an excellent incontinence program, does his laundry, and facility nurses administer his medications. They have an excellent Memory Care Director who knows him well and is helpful in his care and solving any issues. They also collaborate with an excellent geriatric physician who does community visits. The facility is clean and spacious, as is his apartment. The meals are good, and there are many activities for him like exercise group, singing, arts & crafts, TV, special events and other activities. The Staff Maintenance Manager helped to adorn his room with many personal photographs of family, and family can set up a display outside the room about him (which is unique). He has a personal phone and listens to music in his room. We sometimes take walks with him outside, and he often comes to our home for a meal. He has improved physically, mentally and socially since we joined the facility. We could not ask for a better situation for our father.
Hard to imagine a nicer, cleaner, kinder andsafer space for a family member in need of assisted living. The daily care, comfort, compassion and competence provided by all of the staff has been superb. From day 1Jorge helped us with a worry-free transition and he has always been available and extremely helpful.Jorge, Heather, Diana, Mary, Missy, Mario, Ralph, Frank, Job, Lourdes, Carline, Natacha (just to name a few!) have been extremely supportive, kind and accommodating. Thank you all so much. So grateful we found you.
I am writing on behalf of my friend Roy who lived at the Residence prior to his passing in June. He was very happy with his room and the services. I recognized within a short time of his arrival at the Residence that his stress level had dramatically improved. Our daily phone calls became a fun discussion of the day’s events instead of dealing with the issues of daily living like house repairs or food preparation. The staff at the Residence were incredibly helpful in providing assistance to Roy whenever he needed it. They are patient and supportive. The director, Jorge, is very experienced and proved to be a real resource for both Roy and me. The only negative about the Residence is that Roy waited too long to make the move to assisted living.
My father has been a resident since December 2020 from the first day at this beautiful facility he has been happy. Leaving a home lived in for over 50 years was very difficult, the Residence staff made this a seamless transition. There is not one day my father does not praise the staff the cleanliness/comfort of his room, the food and how warm the staff is.I would like to thank all of the staff members especially Ralph Mario and Mary. You three have gone above and beyond to make my father happy……many thanks.Alan
The experience of the last 22 months at The Residence has been a very positive experience . The staff are all very warm and make a genuine effort to brighten the day . The atmosphere is lovely , clean , and calm and they handled a difficult year with excellence . It was a relief to land there and feel confidence in the community .
My parents moved into the Residence about 1 month ago. We are truly so happy to have them here. Every person we have met goes out of their way to treat the residents (and their families) like family. The building and apartment could not be better maintained, the food is amazing, the activities are thoughtful and very well run, but most important - the people couldn't be more kind. Surpassed all our expectations. Thank you!
I'm in the early stages of planning for assisted living care for my mom, and The Residence at Summer Street is one of many facilities we're considering. Jill Cofrancesco, Summer Street's Business Development Director, has been unbelievably kind, patient and generous with her time in answering my many questions. It is clear from every conversation I have with Jill that she is truly devoted to her profession and to the needs of the individuals she serves. If we choose Summer Street, it will be largely because of the extraordinary care and guidance we've received from Jill.
We recently placed my mother in law at The Residence at Summer St. for a temporary stay to allow my wife and I to “take a break”’ from the demands of 24/7 care at our home.As a result of the great care she received during her stay and the increased quality of life she is experiencing, we chose to extend her stay to full time.Jorge, the general manager, and the directors, and staff, have been a pleasure to deal with and they are very open to feedback. After having some hesitant about placing Mom in assisted living care, we are happy to have found the Residence at Summer St.
I want to thank all the staff that takes care of Mom Helen Buchetto, they are patient very kind and treat my mother with respect. Can't wait to have open visiting we miss all the staff .We love to be greeted with smiles and kindness Thank You for everyone's hard work we appreciate all of you.
My Mother has been a resident since the opening (Summer 2018) and she and my family are so grateful to be part of this community. The staff are what make The Residence truly exceptional. Most of the leadership team have been in place since the beginning: Betsy M. provides skilled, compassionate care which extends throughout the care-giving team to the residents, Frank M. leads by example to bring resident "engagement" to new levels of involvement and enjoyment, Justin S. puts his heart and soul into the dining experience and inspires his crew, and Ralph B. leads the facilities team with skill and dedication. Thanks to the entire team, old and new!
We cannot compliment the staff at Residence enough. The transition of moving a loved one from their home is a difficult enough event in and of itself. The staff at this Clean, Modern, Safe and Luxurious facility has stepped up above and beyond expectations on every Occassion making this evolution as Seemless as possible. Beginning with the Executive Director Jorge C. to Marlene S in administration, Betsy M, Erica B and Julie R, provide a level of care and commitment that shines glaringly through. Ralph, Mary and Justin (Chef BTW great food) help round out this dynamic team. All of the Personnel in this Memory Unit Who care for our MOM on a daily basis do so in exemplary fashion. We are greatful to have found such an amazing place, a place where everyone really does care about the residents.

Every day when I turn to my work, I thank God because I love my work in this place. my superiors are excellent people, they treat me with love and respect, my coworkers have received me with love, we work as a team always supporting each other. and although it sounds cliché, we really have the best residents, they treat us with respect and affection. the facilities are super comfortable which allows me to make my work easier and more efficient. The place is always super clean, the employees give us lunch or dinner prepared by the chef and always with different options. The truth for me is a blessing to work in a place where I am always happy. The resident is my family, they are my friends, it is my house. Thank you all because they received me and accepted me as one of their team. Very special thanks to each nurse assistant for always having something to teach me and they do it with pleasure. I will continue to learn and give my best Because this job I hope to leave it when it is time for my retirement
