I worked at this place for year we got new management like Scott and Amber they don't know what they are doing Amber is messing up wellness department big time she really ghetto and ratchet all Scott do is walk around dancing and shake his ass they turn the blind eye to their friends working on the cart and making medication errors and pinning it on other employees I got let go over something somebody else did while I was out with Covid can we smell lawsuit yes it's a shame that they barely even know their residents when we didn't have a ED or wellness director I bust my ass help keep this place up to date helping move in new residents in never once did I get Commission for that and for you to turn around and blame me for somebody else fuck up is crazy
I really like the things that I saw walking into this assisted living place that I heard many mixed stories about. I believe that the staff is very well organized and friendly and they help the seniors participate in different activities. I've been to many of the assisted-living's nearby and then over them were anything like this one OK assisted-living is one of the best in Las Vegas area. There are times when the staff will call us and tell us when I love one needs help and we will come and help soon after. Just the fact that they care enough to keep us well-informed about our mom that makes a world of difference. The surrounding area has not always been the greatest but ever since the new management has come in things have picked up over the past year and I am very please with this place and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for their mother or father a place to be. parking is never a problem and everyone seems to get along in this place. It is good for seniors to feel like they have a home knowing the road that they just come down with being in some of the nursing homes or being at home and family is not able to care for them. I really want to take this time to thank everyone who helps her mom daily and many of the other seniors who have been left behind and they have no one who come to visit them that is huge because without community it's hard for them to survive.I read a few of the previous reviews and seems like they are mostly those who had a bad experience personally and just had to express it all over the Internet but the good never gets put out so that's why I am making this review because I feel the need to share the good light on the program and to talk about the good things that they have to offer here. Our society is really struggling right now and we need to put our trust in places that have good stuff if I am a good family member or support system and I will make friends with everyone and hopefully my love one will get attention and care. We have to keep the faith and trusting others And trust me I would pick this pick this place over and over again. I just want to also mention that they go above and beyond taking the clients to doctors appointments and help in the clients stabilize medications and hires outside companies to come in to also give extra assistance to the people there. Three things that I judge any place on his cleanliness, staff, clients happiness, security, and attention to detail. I can honestly say that this facility has all of those and then Sam thank you everyone three things that I judge any place on is cleanliness, staff, clients happiness, security, and attention to detail. I can honestly say that this facility has all of those and more. Thank you very much for all that you do.
I want to say thank you to every staff member at this assisted living who has helped us through the process and has given us the opportunity to make a comfortable place for our loved ones. We think highly of the staff and the amenities and make up of the facility make it a deal for seniors who need a reliable community of good people. The food is great and the place is very clean. Seniors who need a little help with care and a little extra to get through there days seem to be in the best place possible. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking to place their level one and feel comfortable as they go home and come back the next day to visit. i've heard stories in the past I've had this place used to be and it's not like that anymore it is The total opposite of what it was. we need more people to say good things about places like this because it always happens to be the not so good experience that people like to say and share. When I showed up today all I noticed was the good energy and the attention to detail for the residence thank you to all who work here and to everyone who wakes up and give their service to others. Five stars in my book.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me at this assisted-living that I have my love one and her family residing at. Every day when I come in I see how compassionate the staff is for their residents who really need their help. Many places like this often get bad reviews out of nowhere but until you come and experience that every dayIt's hard to understand. I can't tell you how much it means to see those in need smiling and happy and in groups that give them the quality of life that they deserve. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for this type of service. This is a five-star facility that will always be a place that I feel safe and secure that things will be good for anyone who is admitted here.
My family and I have been looking for an assisted living for my grandmother for a while now and finally, OH FINALLY, we stumbled upon a facility with great and accommodating staff. Being out of state, a very trusting facility to accommodate with my grandmother's needs is what we were looking for. My family in Vegas is really satisfied with the service here. It's good to know that we can trust this facility to take care of my grandmother who we love so much. Im not sure why there are a few negative reviews about this place when we've had such a great experience with the staff and the residents as well.
Miss Rhea or To Whom It May Concern:I am extremely disappointed.I was told I was going to get a ride on Monday 29 at 11:30, but for whatever the reason it was canceled. Then, I was told someone was going to pick me up Friday the 2dn at 9:45am.No one show up.I called a few times to find out what happened. Two people answering the phone told me they were going to find out and call me back. BUT they Never called. What is GOING ON????TonyC
Oakey Assisted Living is a good place for seniors to continue living as close to independent as possible. The Rooms and Facility is Very Clean. (The Pics are exactly how it looks) I visited my best friends mother here and she was busy playing bingo with her community of friends. Very pleased with the times I visit and that is frequently. The staff is very pleasant, everyone greets you when you walk through the door just like a family. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking to find a place for their mother or father if they cannot care for themselves at home. Thank You for All that you do for people that need you!! 24/7 Great Place!!
I am so glad my aunt picked this place to spend her retirement years. When my Uncle passed away their House was too big for her. Once a month we can shop for jewelry together while my husband plays a game of pool with one of the other residents. They have just the right size rooms to feel like home and she got to pick the one she wanted. After taking a walk outside in the hot humid weather the cool air conditioned recreation was nice but what I enjoyed the most was the friends my aunt made! I felt good knowing she wasn't alone. When I cannot be with her the staff and her new friends are like a second family to her.
If there is a place in Las Vegas that should not be doing business with the elderly that are truly needing assistance, Oakey Assisted Living is that place. As a former CEO and director of multiple facilities, I was shocked at the lack of service this facility gives. The staff is low grade and unhappy, unmotivated, inattentive and lazy. I was unimpressed with the current Director. Dawn has no ability to lead at all. She is awful as management and is awful as a leader. Who hired these people to care for our mothers and fathers? The current Director will not help your loved ones at all when they need help with any paperwork of any service whatsoever. But she has no issue charging for those services. It's quite simple really, you can be swayed to visit and maybe even leave a deposit for this place, I promise you'll learn that Oakey is not a place for any loved ones to stay at. Believe me from experience, there are much better places than this place. Do not waste your time. Problems Oakey Assisted Living has deal with the past few months...1. Multiple break ins and criminal activity from the local area that is not desirable at all. 2. The neighborhood is as dodgy as they come. 3. Multiple theft 4. Bland food5. Horrible management (Ben Lyons and Dawn Z.)6. Disatisfied residence. (Just ask any of them if you tour).7. Management will never allow maintenance to do their job ever. So, heating and A/C is a big issue. Jobs never get done due to procrastination on managements side. 8. Residence gets zero assistance with common everyday questions like help with the VA or anything for that matter. 9. Employee satisfaction at an all time low. Just ask them but not in front of Ben or Dawn. 10. SECURITY? NONE. All in all, I'm just saying beware of this facility that probably shouldn't be in business. The facts are clear about the management continues to replace residents that move away due to the hell they endure. Dawn used to be at Merrill Gardens and was fired for treating employees and its employees with such disrespect, they fired her on the spot. Amazing she has not learned her lesson on how to run a facility. Their are plenty of other locations in the Vegas Valley to help you with Mom or Dad. Wish you are the very best. JAMES W.
My grandfather has lived in Oakey since remolded. In the beginning the service was good, the food was great. In the last year the facility has changed management several times. The quality of care is mediocre at best. The food is extremely subpar and very low budget. The housekeeping is consists of wiping a toilet and mopping only the center of the floors. We have hire outside help to clean the apartment. We also have to provide outside meals. The management staff is very dishonest and will blatantly lie to you. They never return phone calls or address any issue. We definitely DO NOT recommend the facility.
I am a daughter of a new resident at Destinations Oakey Assisted Living . My Mother is so comfortable and has really opened up with the wonderful staff that helps her with all her needs and requests. Her smile tells me , in addition to her compliments , of her daily interactions with everyone , from the very caring and experienced staff , to the other residents , that we chose the right assisted living environment for my Mother. Recently, Mother had a heath issue with her diabetes. The in house medical staff along with the upper management team got her through this with their utmost concern and understanding of the situation. My trust has increased even more and I am so impressed and give my greatest respect for this entire new world of such wonderful people I have entrusted with my Mother's care.Thank you all!!!
I am amazed at the poor reviews! I am extremely particular and can call quality when I see it...This place rocks! The staff is genuine and caring. The company works with you as much as they can. I am so impressed with this senior living facility. The environment is clean and positive. They offer activities and have so many opportunities for tenants for activity. They even have poker night! The food is great and I love how nicely they have renovated the building. Thank you so much destination Oakey for taking such great care of my father in law, Monte. You guys exceed any and all expectations! Las Vegas has so many facilities that are packed with waiting lists and poor care...this place deserves the 5 star rating! Keep up the incredible service!
This review may be repetitive of my first review, but I think it provides better information. NEGATIVE REVIEW ABOUT Destinations at Oakey, Las Vegas, Nevada* 12/08/2014: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I have lived at Destinations at Oakey for 9 months and it WAS a very nice place to live. However, starting December 1, 2014 a new management company, Ridgeline Management Company, took over with the intent of turning the property into an Assisted Living Facility in about a year. In the past eight days they have demolished almost all resident's lifestyle. Here are a few examples of what they advertise and promise you and with the truth really is:* There is only bus transportation on Tuesday and Thursday. And, that is mainly for doctor appointments and pharmacy. They have cancelled bus transportation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday...so there are no trips to the bank, post office, grocery store, casinos or any activities like concerts and First Friday Downtown.* If you require transportation on any day other than Tuesday or Thursday. You will need to pay for a taxi, take the bus or make arrangements with a friend. All in All...it is just more expenses for the residents.* There is no access to a pool, spa, or exercise room even though they continue to advertise these amenities. I have a bad back and could really use a hot tub on cold nights.* There are very few social activities, so we sit in our rooms, board for most of the day and usually only come out of our rooms for meals and to get the daily mail.* We use to have a Bingo game twice a week that about 15 people really looked forward to playing. The buy-in for the session was a $1 and if you won you would win about $1.25. The new management cancelled the games because they said it may be against Nevada Gaming Laws. (Really...I think the Gaming Control Board has a lot more important things to do that arrest 15 Senior Citizens for playing $1 Bingo twice a week). However, Ridgeline Management Company still writes it on the daily activity board, so to new comers it looks like we have activities; however, Ridgeline Management Company always cancels the game.* Pretty much the only thing to do is to shoot pool, watch a movie once a week, listen to volunteer Fred play the piano from 4pm to 5pm, play bridge, or exercise on Tuesday mornings with Zumba.* They continue to cut the budgets for dining (the dining budget per person/per day is less than $6). Housekeeping and maintenance are asked to do more with less.* The facilities are starting to look shabby. The carpets in the general hallways are dirty and are starting to get worn and have bubbles (trip and fall accident).* This new management company is so insecure and insensitive that they took down one of the former resident's picture and threw it in the garbage. The resident had passed about 3 months ago and was a friend to all and beloved by many, including myself.* REMEMBER: I know that they are telling prospective residents that there are going to be a lot of improvements and the Assisted Living will be great, but let me ask you this question? If after only 8 days of managing the property, they are treating the long-time, independent residents in this horrible manner, what kind of poor Management will they provide when they become Assisted Living to many disabled resident, a majority of whom will not have a voice in the matter.STAFF: To the day-to-day staff's credit...they have always been wonderful and treat the resident's with care, respect and dignity. They are just caught in the middle of trying to provide services to the residents while dealing with budget cuts and stupid rules set up by the new management company, Ridgeline Management Company, that is only interested in pinching pennies to get their annual bonus.Ellen H., Current Resident and soon to be ex-resident. So, you know you are getting first hand knowledge
Don't get an interview here and then they say everything went well. My thing is have the decency to tell the person you went with another candidate or whatever decision.Vegas is weird with hiring and just dont hear anything, after you were pretty much told you have it. No kind of professionalism in my eyes.
I am a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserve so integrity is important to me. I placed my mom into Oakey over a year ago and finally moved her in with me recently because of the terrible treatment at Oakey. Now.....to make matters worse....Oakey has refused to refund an overpayment for rent. The food is bad, they have not found a way to balance the threat of CoVID with quality of life for the residents, the transportation is spotty and the washing machines are filled with dog hair.To be fair, the place is clean and competitively priced. However, considering all factors both positive and negative, I cannot recommend Oakey.
Oakey is a beatifull facility that is always immaculately clean, but what makes it such a special place is the community culture and environment. They really are a family and you can feel that everyone is happy to be residing there and employees like to be there as well!! Would recommend for anyone and their parents!!!
My Mother was a vivacious lady of 99 and had lived on her own until an unexpected health issue. Her desire to live anywhere but her home was "out of the question". We explored other options when her doctor told us she would not withstand the trip to move her back to live with us.As all her family lived back east, our fear was if she would be properly watched over and cared for both medically and emotionally. Oakey receives 6 stars for both! The medical team kept me informed of her health changes, medications and anything she needed to be comfortable. The entire staff kept an "eye" on her and made sure she was out of her apartment and participating in any of the activities that she chose. She had been at Oakey a couple months before we asked her about selling her home. Her reply was "Yes - sell it - my girls love me and I love them, I couldn't ask for anything nicer than living here"To the entire staff - thank you - for each and every kind word, act or deed you did for my Mom. She thought highly of everyone because their smile, sweet hellos and willingness to make her feel a part of the family! I feel Oakey was a God send for our family. Even living back east were confident that Mom was getting the best of loving care. We truly feel she lived a longer, happier, healthier and safer life at Oakey and her days were filled with activities and entertainment which filled her last days with joy, laughter, peace and love.
When you call for information they will not answer your questions, they only want to collect your information. Lady who hung up on me. You are correct. My grandfather does not want to live there but not because I will not give you information. It is because if you do not care enough to tell me about your facility then we don't think you will help and take care of him.
I toured this facility before my grandma decided to move in. The first thing I noticed was the lush gardens. The smell of the building in not antiseptic- it smells like someone's home. The furnishings are well maintained and there are little conversation areas with games set out invitingly. The apartments are nice and we could paint if we like as long as we repaint when she leaves. She can do her laundry or have it done at no extra charge. Meals are included and looked really good. There's a billiards room, theatre and salon. I'm very happy that she's living there.
