This is a really nice facility with good leadership in all areas. They really do care about your family. Being in healthcare myself I know the challenges any facility has. The Administrator, DON, and other staff really want you to have a good experience. If you find an issue talk to them. I have found anytime you discuss your concerns they are listening and willing to help resolve them.
This place is terrible they drug people up they say they're going to therapy and they don't bring him to therapy they lay them in the bed drug them all up they keep them in poop do not change them they lie to people and tell them that they're walking to the bathroom when they're not they put their stuff in applesauce they're fine for a minute then they drug them up so they don't even know who they are this place should be turned into Channel 13 and I'm going to call Channel 13 on these people they treat them like dogs wait worse than dogs they're the worst place I've ever seen in my whole life my husband weighed 170 lb now he's down to a hundred I'm getting him out in 2 days these people are ruthless and I promise you I will get ahold of channel 3 Channel 13 and more people need to do this to because they can't keep getting away with being lazy and being so cruel to people how dare them I need more people to step in I have names and I will give them to a lot of people so this stops the abuse with these people Ruthless People it keeps telling me to give them a star rating r I'm going to give them a star rating for being the worst place in the world I hope this is the one on marther Luther King and when they get them so drugged up they try to get up and they fall on their heads legs and they leave them there and they don't care and they don't come in for a while until after they hurt their self real bad I have pictures I want to add pictures of people that have got hurt here
My mother was sent to this facility after complications from surgery. The staff is absolutely awful. I was begging for help in the hallway as my mother was vomiting to which I was told to calm down while no one helped. She was a trach patient and not having assistance while vomiting could mean she's filling her lungs with vomit and will not be able to breathe. Most of the staff seemed to lack training and while there were a few staff members that were fantastic there certainly were not enough to make a difference unfortunately. She was sent back to the hospital after a week in their care because she got sick there. She arrived at the hospital sick and dirty to which were informed was common from that facility. I was also informed that some other long term care facilities won't take patients from Horizon because of the condition they get them in, I was amazed to find out that things like that happen. It was a sad a disheartening experience. If your loved ones end up here please keep an eye on them and police the staff. If you aren't there they aren't paying attention. You cannot report them to channel 13 or anything to investigate due to patient privacy laws but there is an ombudsman that is responsible for their license and ability to practice. Please follow through with your complaints and concerns as I know there are people there with no family advocates receiving bad care.
My dad is miserable here. They constantly forget things like his sleeping meds and pain meds. Every time I talk to my dad he is miserable and complains of lack of sleep. Additionally, the head nurse, named Cookie, is incredibly rude and unprofessional, any time I asked her a question about my dad's care she would audibly sigh and go "oh my god" in an exasperated tone, like it's too much of a burden to her to answer straightforward questions about my dad's care. She has no business in healthcare if that's her demeanor. It seems many of the people employed here were hired out of desperation and not based on qualification. The level of collective incompetence at this place is astounding. Additionally, my dad has been there for MONTHS, I keep asking them to arrange an eye doctor visit because he needs glasses. They keep promising they will handle it, but months have gone by with no resolution. Everyone here should be ashamed and embarrassed. This place is garbage. If you send your loved one here they will be miserable.
VERY SHORT STAFFED!!!! CNNs surly, rude, & nasty! Some are downright mean! My roommate lay in feces' & urine all night (12:00am - 6:00am one night. Another time she had slightly vomited onto her chest; when a CNN passed by & was asked to help, she said "I don't do that" & kept going! Most of the time you ring for a CNN it takes from 1/2 hour to 45 minutes for someone to come (& even then, they are so short with you they barely understand what you are saying; they will just floof you off & leave! Some of the CNNs English is so poor that they just cannot comprehend what you are saying, then they become very belligerent & start screaming at you. By that time communication is impossible! Even onr or two of the nurses are very nasty! The other night I was asleep only to awakten to a nurse standing over me shouting "MEDICINE"! If your pain medicine is due at 4:00, you probably won't get it until 6:00 by which time you are in extreme pain! The administrators & nurse practitioner seem to find various reasons to keep you in the facility so that if you leave, you leave against "doctor's orders". The next thing you know, you are informed that you only have 2 more days of covered stay left. ADDENDUM: Therapy & Rehab is excellent! Food is good. Could be a great rehabilitation center if not for the quantity & quality of the staff & the machinations of administrators to keep a person there longer than necessary for billing purposes!!!!
This is the worst care my parents have ever received. The nurses are neglectful, rude and take up to three hours to bring pain medicine. Not one nurse, not even the charge nurse at Horizon has resolved the cruel behavior of their staff and constant lack of attention that patients need. The facility reeks of urine. Beware of the following nurses: Jeremiah (charge nurse) who doesn't take responsibility for his staff and passes along requests without following through, Lana who was unprofessional and rude to me when I asked to be informed when my dad has doctor appointments outside the faculty and when his room is changed. Lana's response was that I should know when his appointments are and the nurses don't have to inform me if dad's condition changes. Stay away from this place. It is a nightmare. My dad's progress declined when transferred from the hospital to Horizon.
Rather than using string for the over bed lights they use trash bags. The footboard to the bed is broken. No chairs in the rooms bed pushed up against the wall. Waited over 2 hours and no admission paperwork. Asked for something to eat as discharge from hospital was prior to supper and missed supper the response was well supper was over at 5. Pushed to get a sandwich. They did deliver a sandwich juice and jello. Each CNA that entered did not say who they were or knock prior to entering the room. Also shared PT information on the next bed. Granted it was a notice but still No No transferred out
My family member stayed at this hospital waiting for an orthopedic consult. Was told that the delays in getting a consult was that it a week before a holiday, and then there was a weekend in there somewhere, and it would take another week... a lot of excuses. In any event, the consult was ultimately never done because when his sister drove from another state to see him and help get things done and concern about lack of care, she found him unresponsive (deceased) in his hospital bed.
Well this is Moms first day, we have a lot of hopeful prayers for her recovery. Wasn't too thrilled on this facilities location, however..I've been working with Gerald at the facility he has held our hand all through the night reassuring us he will see to it that she has everything she needs. I was informed that there was a special team of people selected to improve the facility, they've been at it for 3 years now. The facility has all sorts of activities which should help the time to recovery to not feel quite so long. For what the hospital said, this facility has one of the best Physical Therapy Depts. At this time I'm rating with a 2 stars however I will update as time progresses. At which time I will adjust my review accordingly.super excited for her to gain strength and come home!!!! So in the midst of this review, lol the facility activities director Diane called me.Boy Moms popular! Diane said they are pet friendly so moms kitty's can visit her in her room, And bring her favorite blanket, her hobbies, family pictures, etc.Oh and depending on the patients religion they assign a prayer buddy if you wish So it just got bumped to 3starsOk guys, I'll keep you posted!
I have begged for my pain medication for the last 1.5 hours! I have an appointment with my surgeon at 9:00 a.m. When I see him, I am going to file a complaint against your facility with him and ask that he not send anyone to this hell hole. You see, I have had to wait more than an hour on 4 different occasions when asking for my medication! I know because I have a timer on my phone. After such a serious infection that I have had a wound care nurse is supposed to change my wound dressing on a daily basis, and date the bandages. Well, I am going to my surgeon today as I said before at 9, with a 2 day old bandage on my back, I know he's not going to be happy! When I am released from this place, rest assured that I am going to with the State of Nevada, the health department and any other agency that will shine a light on everything, I have documented everything! I sent this to the administrator of the hospital! They never even responded. They left my incontinent roommate in a soiled diaper for 3 hours! I finally called the nurses station before anyone came to change her! I finally checked out AMA!
My aunt was transferred here after leg amputation. I refused to let her go to Southern Nevada Rehab because they're the reason her leg had to be amputated (along with a myriad of other medical faux pas with Las Vegas health care). At any rate, first day there, found her on the floor, naked, in her feces. I screamed for help which came immediately. Of course, nurses and administration tried to down play the incident but my aunt without her leg laying on the floor, crying for help, is forever ingrained in my mind. I had to hire a bed side attendant so it wouldn't happen again. There is no communication at this place and total disrespect for the patients' family. They wouldn't supply diapers for my aunt or Glucerna, telling her bed side attendant he could clean up after her and feed her since that is why the family hired him. I signed admission papers two weeks after my aunt was admitted and I'm still waiting for discharge papers even though my aunt has been home for four days. Good luck if your forced to place a loved one here. They'll never make it without a caretaker.
By far one of the worst things here my mom was there for almost a month it’s so sad to here my own mother comparing this to jail anything she asked for took about a week or more to receive when she got out I had to take her back to the hospital they said she had a infection like they did absolutely nothing to help I could go on but all I can say do not come here it’s bad hope they get better staff
