COVID alert: El Jen staff and residents have been massively affected by COVID restrictions. Rules change constantly.  This can affect your visit (if a visit is even possible). Contact the social worker to schedule a visit well ahead of time. Be sure to leave your phone number...they don't text.  It's been hard to get people on the main phone number...try not to call during a shift change. . Keep trying the main number and then be  forwarded to the social worker's number or number you may have.  If your friend/loved one is bed bound you may not be able to visit him/her at all. Ask ahead! A "comfort visit"  in a person's room may be granted on a case by case basis. El Jen has provided outstanding care for my friend for over 6 years. The facility is aging but kept up, it's clean and doesn't smell of ammonia (a sign that that urine issues are not being handled). Staff gets high marks from my friend who's there.  I loved meeting with him   in the "rose garden" a large, grassy, shaded enclosed yard used for outside visits. If you convey stress about how, where and when you can visit during COVID, your contact with staff is likely to be strained and less effective. They have lots of people in their care and special conditions take time.  Your patience can pay off. I personally think it's one of the best rehab facilities in Las Vegas and highly recommend it.

Normally I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this is just so unprofessional. Today I went to visit my grandma through the window in rehab and as I was leaving I noticed a bald man in scrubs who I assume is a worker there,  making out with a women nearly eating her face! I find this extremely unprofessional because if my assumption is correct and he is a worker, I wonder who is taking care of his patients when he is out there dealing with his personal business.

My mom was a resident for a few years.  The care provided to her was amazing up until she passed away.  The staff were responsive to her needs, kept me informed, and answered all of my questions or requests.  The nurses and doctors ensured she received appropriate care quickly when her condition worsened and kept her comfortable in her last days.  The facility has always been kept clean.  Although El Jen isn't fancy from the outside, the family atmosphere is what makes their care top notch.

What a great facility. One of my family members had to get admitted here for some rehab and The social worker Mrs. Nicole Goldberg was so sweet and took the time to listen and care about what was going on with my family member. Really appreciated everything she did to help us get settled in and during our stay.

we all know that In a second your life can change and all of a sudden you need the help of strangers to care for you.  Well that happened to me.  I was so lucky that I was taken to El Jen Healthcare at 5538 Duncan Dr. Las Vegas Nv.  They did everything possible to calm my fear, and took care me like they were old friends.   The staff is amazing in patients and professionalism.  I can't thank them enough for taking care of me this week.  please  do yourself a favor and take the time to visit El Jen  and see for yourself the wonderful staff and beautiful place, because if something does happen where you need Healthcare there isn't time to look around....AND YOUR HEALTH DEPENDS ON BEING AT THE BEST AND EL JEN IS THE BEST.  5 STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. I have had three admissions to El Jen, one with my dad and two with my mother. We were extremely happy with the care they were given. On mom's first admission she had daily PT and the therapists very patient. Her last admission unfortunately turned into hospice care and the El Jen staff worked closely with the staff of Hospice Del Sol to keep her as comfortable as possible. My sister and I were given everything we needed and even had meals provided for us. The rooms were clean and spacious and had a non-hospital feeling. The staff made a painful time much easier.

My mom, Mary Jane, passed away November 20 at the age of 93. She had lived at El Jen since 2015 and was very happy there. I want to thank Carol Toomey and her dedicated staff including Scott, Margaret, Terri,Mark, Sheri and so many others who took such excellent care of her; always  treating her with dignity, patience, and kindness. I appreciate all their efforts and professionalism that often went above and beyond the call of duty. My mom was very happy there. Thank you.Kristy

This is a review my mother wrote but for some reason it won't show up on here... these people are awful. Not only is everything she says in her review 100% true, but when we got her into the new place we started cleaning her and we realized that what we thought were just age spots was actually dirt. She was filthy. She was also covered in bruises and scrapes everywhere. The nurses and doctors at the hospital and her new place were shocked by her condition and several were asking "who did this to her". When we told them, we found out that apparently El Jen has a reputation for in recent years for mistreating their patients. I wish we would have known this sooner. Now it's too late. The hospice people think she will pass today. Thank you for taking my Grandma from me, El Jen. Here is my mother's review:For the love of GOD, do NOT put anyone you care about in this facility. When I placed my mom here, more than 10 years ago, it was a nice facility where she got good care. The last few months she has been a bit afraid to stay there. She is 91, so I thought this was just normal apprehension as you get older. She is also bed-bound with severe arthritis so can't move about on her own. A week ago, on Friday, I got a call that her right thigh was swollen. They wanted to test her for blood clots, which came back as negative. They left her on Saturday and the swelling got worse, so they x-rayed it on Sunday morning. Sunday night they called to say that mom had a hairline fracture in her femur, and transferred her to the hospital. More x-rays were taken, and the films sent to a surgeon for evaluation. Monday morning, the surgeon came in and said how shocked he was to look at the films and see that this wasn't a hairline fracture at all but a very serious spiral fracture. He stated that, if she didn't fall, someone would have had to have twisted her leg to break it that way. Since she was bed-bound, they would have had to have dropped her, but there was no fall reported. The surgeon said that she wouldn't survive the surgery or recovery. The only thing left to do was medicate for pain. So now she is on a hospice, on morphine and methadone, and they say she won't live many more days. I am so BEYOND angry. These people basically killed my mother!

I wish there was a rating for lesser than a star. I cannot comprehend how this place has compiled a 4 star rating so far. Please, for the love you have for your loved one, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. This place will ensure a speedy death for your loved one. I am beyond disappointed, dissatisfied, angry, appalled, and so many more emotions with this place and it's so called staff. My sister was here for one week, and the "care" I saw their staff perform on her was horrendous. My sister had a nurse come to see her with the worst attitude ever, her name was Pamela. When we voiced our concerns to administration, they apologized and said they had spoken with her but she would remain my sisters nurse because they didn't want to fill out new paper work to change the nurse. That was unacceptable! No cleaning was done in the room let alone on my sister. She had two nurses that came in one male and the other female. The male nurse grabbed my sister like if she was a ragged piece of paper as he is wiping her down with no regards to her pain level. Another CNA comes into the room asking us what were they doing for the patient that day. Isn't it your responsibility to know before you walk in a room???This Nicole Goldberg whom claims to be the social services person for this facility was never seen. And speaking of never seen, the doctor that this facility claims to have never showed up to check in any of the patients there. This facility might not even have a doctor. The social worker, Joan Bautista by far has no understanding of what her role is. She may seem empathetic at first, but failed to do any follow up with my sister for a full week despite the concerns we had expressed to her about that facility. Why be a social worker if you can't care for your clients? I'm quite surprised that they have not been sued for medical negligence on any of the current patients. This facility is the worst, and they just want your money. So as a person that had first hand experience and was there the entire day and night and saw all the things I did, I warn you to steer clear. One day, someone will sue this place for the poor management, poor staff, and for all the negligence that goes on. Please do us all a favor and just shut down this place. You obviously do not care to make the patients your priority so why have a facility?!

All those terrible reviews are hogwash. I worked thier, and didnt leave ideally, but I'll say this that nursing home is good , the people in it and own it are good people and good to the people that stay thier. People have a sense if humor, are patient and you can find mistakes anywhere in anyplace . But they work diligently to correct and keep it a nice place to be and to work. And that's baloney about hiring illegals and paying them low wages. I know and I'm white citizen . They dont do that at all!

They have some great nurses and the CNA's in retirement are great. but the staff doesn't care enough for there patients. Rehab nurses are great but there cna:s are hard to find. Maybe out of 8 of them the day ones are really bad. They only have two good cna's that are good in the day. All the CNAs in the evening are wonderful. There are activities scheduled there and those workers are great. Unfortunately the social worker for Rehab isn't very good and doesn't know how to talk to the people and when you try to complain they don't want to listen to you. They also have a lot of people that work there that all wonderful but unfortunately the main staff that you need to speak to do not care for instance the social worker named Nicole. The social worker for retirement named Mark doesn't even want to listen half the time. The office staff of admitting is wonderful. Unfortunately they try to get you out of there when you're not ready to leave and that is a main concern. They do keep people there that should be gone and the people that need to still stay there they have leave. this place is getting worse wish my friend could get out but doctors don't show up and the elderly get horrible treatment bt]y they male nurses don't send your love ones there, you will regret it

i was there in rehab. Not good, food bad, 2 showers a week. No shampoo, bars of soap, tv's had only 6 channels and came in bad. slept on 3 different plastic mattress with lumps. I had broken ribs so it was a difficult sleeping condition. No activities except bingo. Rooms had one bath for two people and the bath is in one of the rooms, so someone has no privacy and interruption all the time, Morning and all night. The xray people did was wrong . insulin was ordered nevered used but was billed to senior dimensions. The staff is great with what they have to work with. It is the owner who are so greedy and really are not concerned with the patient,s happiness at all. I as a owner could never treat another human being this way. They took me in but really only because the owners wanted the money. I was there 7 days and never saw a doctor until the day i was discharged.

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS FACILITY. The Doctors are rarely seen and it's impossible to speak to them in person or on the phone because they are just not available. All questions and requests are routed through the nurses. My biggest complaint was that I requested a UTI test for my mother because I noticed a change in her behavior. I and my husband were both told that the test was done and that she was fine. Two months later my mother is taken to the hospital because she is in Septic Shock. Why? Because, per El Jens medical records department, she was never tested and treated for a UTI. The nurse lied to us. This can be life threatening for an elderly person. At that point I had to call the Elder Rights Ombudsman and they opened up an investigation. My mother was out of the facility at this point.More than once I cleaned feces off of the wall by her bed. They never used wipes or barrier cream. They didn't have in room trash cans for the disposal of diapers and instead would throw them on the floor and then into a trash can down the hall. This is a very, very unsanitary facility. I am not sure what Carol Toomey is doing with the money she gets from Medicare and Medicaid but it is not for the supplies necessary for the care of the elderly. After my mothers stay at the hospital she went to Lifecare Center of Las Vegas. It was an eye opening experience. It didn't smell like urine. The rooms were clean. The food was appropriate. They have a doctor on staff. When you call and ask a question, you get an answer. And they call you back. The outside facade of El Jen is very misleading. It is in a nice residential area. It's very quiet. There are bunnies running around the facility. It seems sweet and safe. It is neither. I hope this will deter everyone from using this facility. There are other options. You have a right to demand better even if you are on Medicaid.
