We moved our mother to MorningStar at Englefield Green for the final eight months of her life. Everyone on the MorningStar staff provided wonderful, loving care for her. She was treated with dignity, affection, and tenderness. The facility itself is modern, cheerful, and clean. Their kitchen prepares excellent meals and snacks for the residents and their families. If you find yourself in need of memory care for a family member, we can recommend MorningStar with utmost confidence.
1/1/2019What are a few important items that one would maybe not know about by just strolling through Morning Star- Memory Care and seeing the beautiful apartments of different sizes some appropriate for a couple living here, and others designed for singles? The three bullets below are what I have learned within the past 14 plus weeks of living here that I would not have noticed on a "walk through."•!• All surfaces cleaned and sanitized, use "HP202," a hydrogen peroxide/ food grade/ hospital grade cleaner with a single cap of Red Clover Tea added to absorb all odors from the room including the cleaning product. Further, that every nook and cranny is dusted from the ceiling to the floor as each room and hallway is cleaned. The "blue shirt" care giver people, include: those "working the floor"; the "Med-Tech/care managers" that have earned an A++ with their daily fully documented records and care; the nurses; and the people responsible for ordering new medications called in by physicians, ordering on-going medication refills, tracking them, and distributing these to the locked medication carts located in the hallways near residential apartments. These "blue shirts" take responsibility for taking and recording each resident's vitals. They also continually distribute snacks to rooms and take responsibility for room checks, hydration at dining room tables through ice water and juices. They work at distributing meals, feeding those residents who need assistance, showering and getting people dressed both in the morning for breakfast, and in the evening for bed. They change sheets and pajamas through out the night and attend to room calls for help going to the bathroom or any other need residents want or need help with. They also do laundry once a week for residents. So, one could say that "Blue Shirts" are miracle workers! This bullet is the best of them all and is my favorite: Every person working at Morning Star Memory, which includes the office personnel, works at being "enough" within themselves as individuals with no ulterior motive for "power". Instead, they foster a personal commitment to showing respect and giving encouragement for empowerment. The result; the overall goal for all is to treat everyone as an equal no matter what individual issues we each might have. Further, I want to note that I have been most blessed to have witnessed the most genuine love from families and individuals who come to visit loved ones, as well as beautiful caring between residents in the way of help or encouragement and witnessed miracles that allow hope, laughter, and courage because of someone's spontaneity and creativity. Obviously, my input here is just barely scratching the surface by not mentioning planned entertainment, planned activities, therapy, and more. I am most grateful to have been living here at time when I needed what "Morning Star - Memory," is.Respectfully submitted, Barbara Schroeder, Resident
The staff are wonderful and very caring of the residents. They truly love working with them and are so good. If there is an issue - any kind - they work to take care of it immediately or make sure those that can fix it, do so. Very receptive to ideas and enjoy "help" or participation in classes. My parents (both have Alzheimer's) are there and they get excellent care.
Morningstar Memory Care has done a terrific job of caring for my loved one during Covid. We had a move in during the Covid pandemic with no visiting until this week. Going in this week has shown me that care and concern for physical and mental health as well as hygiene and housekeeping has been top quality all this year of isolation from family members. They have been family's blessing for peace of mind.
My father-in-law was the first resident at MorningStar when they opened and I've had the chance to observe for several years him thrive due to the quality of care he receives. When it recently became necessary for my mother to be in memory care we were fortunate enough to get her into MorningStar. I believe that MorningStar is one of the best memory care facilities in the North West and I am grateful to them.
It is without hesitation that I write a 5-star review for MorningStar Memory Care. My mom has been a resident here for almost six months, and we say it has given her "a new lease on life." It's easy to make a good first impression, but over the months, MorningStar has lived up to its promise to be a place that honors God, treats residents with dignity, and invests generously in quality staff. The facility- WOW! I love how each room has it's own private shower and kitchenette. It gives the residents the feeling of living in an upscale apartment. Also, I like the layout where there's many gathering spaces throughout the building. My mom's room opens up to one of five living rooms, and it feels very homey with the fire place and even a pool table that's a lot of fun when grandkids to come visit. The food- Great, we love to go eat there too. We appreciate the dignity of how they take each resident's order and treat it like a restaurant experience. They are very welcoming to guests, so my mom can host friends for lunch. The activities- Top Notch. They bring in great musicians. Jen is creative and fun. My mom looks forward to the fun field trip drives throughout Boise.Care Staff- WOW! I am so impressed with how the staff has taken a personal interest in caring for my mom. For example, Marsha brought my mom her favorite drink from Dutch Bros, and Jessica does beautiful hair styles. They are creative and caring in handling complex situations.Nursing Staff- Wonderful at handling medication changes andcommunication. Kami Bellomy is an amazing Nurse Practitioner to work with.Thank you, MorningStar Memory Care of Englefield Green. You are a blessing to our family.
When I moved my mom to MorningStar Memory Care last spring, I had my reservations, but soon realed that they were unfounded. The staff is absolutely wonderful, the amount of love respect and care that they show to not only the residents, but also families and visitors is truely remarkable in this day and age. I would highly recommend Morning Star Memory Care for anyone looking for dementia care for a loved one.
If you are looking for an excellent and compassionate home for your loved one that needs a memory care then look no further. I have had my client at MorningStar memory care for the past eight months and I am impressed with all of the staff; from the executive director to the nursing & care providers to the administrative staff. Their level of experience, compassion and caring has far exceeded my level of expectations for facility care. They treat my client like he is a beloved family member. I have observed that treatment extends to all of the people that reside at MorningStar. Check out MorningStar Memory Care Englefield Green for yourself! They have space available in their home and in their hearts!
Morning Star is a truly quality senior living memory loss community. It was not an easy decision to move our mother but the human touch that I have witnessed has made all the difference. I want to move here! It is beautiful; clean; great food, lots of great activities which encompass every activity level. My mom particularly enjoys the many music concerts. This is a picture of my mom and one of my sisters enjoying a concert by a lovely harpist playing such tunes as Canon in D and Danny's Boy that brought many to tears and to singing along! What Spontaneous Joy! I'm very impressed with the staff. No relationship is easy, but the staff at Morning Star truly meet people where they're at, and look out for their residents and each other. Well Done! Lots of peace of mind here as I am out of town and am only able to visit every other month or so.
I have played for this facility numerous times as a musician. What I have witnessed, while I have played, are residents that are treated with dignity, staff that actually wants to come to work, a building that is designed to be "home like" but also safe for the residents, and a heart to walk with each resident regardless of their mental state. It is a precious thing to see life in all stages being respected and cared for in a dignified way.
Visiting a resident at Morningstar one day, we met Jen, the Activities Director. We asked her if our teenage son might play piano there to bring music to the residents, as a community service project. She was very open to the idea and welcomed us there warmly. Almost a year later, he has been playing there every few weeks. We've been so touched by the residents' pleasure in the music, and grateful for the opportunity to contribute. We appreciate Jen and all the staff who are so helpful to the residents and work to create an environment that is peaceful, caring, and vibrant.
We have a comparison of facilities as my husband was in another community before coming here. There is no comparison. MorningStar at Englefield Green is GREAT!!! The staff is wonderful and there are many more employees to care for residents than the other facility he was in. MorningStar at Englefield Green is highly recommended.
