So many bad thing to say about this place.. My mother was recovering from a stroke and was sent here directly from the hospital and right off the bat they didn't have a proper bed set up for her, which is ridiculous considering she could barely walk. A few weeks after we got settled in the social worker promised to help us get set up with Medicaid so we wouldnt be stuck with a huge bill after her stay, a couple months later we get tired of waiting and decide to take a trip to the Medicaid office only to findout that they had never even submitted the paperwork in the first place, leaving us with a $5000+ bill. The "nurse assistants" here are also very rude on more then one instance, when I would visit, I would hear them say something snarky whenever my mother would ask for anything. Once she asked for a drink and we waited for about an hour, we then paged the nurse again and was told that said she had better things to do.They also have a policy in which they recommend that any money or cigarettes left for the residents be left at the front desk. Which we had no problem with; however, on more then one occasion, money would mysteriously disappear or cigarettes would be given to other patients. We had to start requesting a receipt for the money and a wrote down whenever she would have a cigarette just to make sure they were not "miss placed" again.
I came here in November with a fractured pelvis and severly crushed/shattered femur. I am being dischatged tmrw morning. My stay here was fantastic.I was admitted in a wheelchair and I am leaving on crutches and soon to be cane walking. The therapy department had a plan for me to regain my range of motion, gain strength, and afterhours tasks to push the healing process.Bernice and her staff were wonderful. I had a few issues that needled addressing and they were immediately taken care of. I needed a desk in.my room and it was brought that day.I left here quicker than I thought. That was the result of the excellent staff. My medication wss changed to cater to my pain as a doctor would visit me upon my request. Many many of the staff gave me hugs as they said goodbye to me. This place helped me heal physically and emotionally. Highly recommended. Will miss everyone.
I have a family member who has been at Hillside for about 30 days, and I visit 4-5 days per week. I have not seen anything negative occur, nor have I seen anything dirty or unkempt. I'm retired from working in hospital quality and medical staff services departments, so I know what to look for. Hillside provides excellent care and the staff are experienced, knowledgeable, cheery, and polite. Very prompt response to any questions, needs, or requests. I regularly stay for meals with my family member and see the same quality care extended to all other residents. The food is very good and plenty is served. There are alot of daily activities and monthly field trips for residents who are able to participate. There are two common areas set up like a living room where residents can gather for games and TV. A kitchenette is fully stocked with self-serve between meal snacks and beverages for the residents. The entire facility is extremely clean and very nicely decorated. There are several outdoor areas for residents to enjoy, and the flowers and landscaping are lovely. I understand the Executive Director is fairly new, having been at Hillside for about 4 or 5 years. Obviously the Director and staff take pride working at Hillside and it shows!
