My grandmother stayed here after a hip replacement and the care was so poor that we took her home after 5 days to care for her at home. The facility was disgusting - the smell or f urine was very strong and my grandmother's shared bathroom often had urine and feces on the floor and toilet seat for days at a time without cleaning. Her first night there she fell out of bed at night because she needed to use the bathroom and her call button went unanswered for over 45 minutes; so she tried to go herself. Twice during our time visiting her roommate had to wait so long for a call button response that we helped her ourselves to use the bathroom. The nurses and aids didn't listen to us and while we did meet one lovely aid, the others were callous and rough with the patients. PT was a joke, he rarely came and his sessions were short and useless. I would never ever allow another family member to be placed here.
Administrator and DNS are terrible leaders who are are running the place into the ground. Not professional. There is no communication among the staff. The administrator never pops her head out of her office to see what's happening in her own facility. Not a "hands on" leader.Staffing is always short and only a handful of the workers are professional. Food is terrible.Housekeeping is doing a poor job of cleaning. This is use to be a 4 star facility at one time. You need better management to turn this place around.
I am still waiting for someone, Cassandra, to call me about my husband's missing clothes. I filed a complaint with them and they said they needed more time to look for his clothes. I looked in the laundry myself and only found one pair of pants and shirt. They even put my husband in a Johnny because they said he had no clothes! It has been over 2 months since I filed a complaint and requested reimbursement. I just found out that the eyeglasses that he came out with are not his. They were brand new!!! I am disgusted at being treated with absolutely no respect from the administration.Note: I have been contacted by the Interim Administrator, Mark Fuerstein, who actively pursued a resolution to my complaint. Mr. Fuerstein was wonderful, kind and compassionate. After listening to my complaint, Mr. Fuerstein was able to resolve this matter in a very short period of time. Thank you Mr. Fuerstein.
I could write a novel about my grandmother's experiences here, but I'll stick with the freshest memory: my grandmother was admitted into hospice here after being in and out several times (I will be having Words with my uncle about his choices, don't you worry), and every time I tried to call to talk to my grandmother, they failed to connect me. The one time the call went smoothly, they turned out to connect me to the wrong room! I had to fight for over a week to get to speak to my DYING grandmother. Then they told us she tested positive for coronavirus... and she was the only person in the entire building to test positive, somehow, as if the virus coalesced from the ether specifically to kill my grandma. And kill her it did. A week after we received the news, we were told she was dead. Now the facility is telling us they don't know where her possessions are. I wonder if they even waited until her body was cold before they packed her stuff up. I also wouldn't put it past them to have just thrown it all in the garbage. I'm amazed they didn't somehow misplace her corpse at this point. This is the kind of farcically inept facility you thought only existed in fiction, staffed almost exclusively by sociopaths who don't regard the patients as human beings, or the dumbest people in the business. Some of them are both.If there's any justice in the world, every single employee here who failed my grandmother and let her suffer and die will end up at GHCC in their final years. It's what they deserve.
I worked at Glastonbury Healthcare center. Every weekends it would be one CNA taking care of 30-40 people and when you talk about it the DNS she threaten your job. I was also told that they pay competitive rates. The CNA rate is $13.00 and when I speak to her and human services . she tell me if I wanted to leave I can leave.
The only reason this review has one star is because there were some very caring nurses, aides, PT and OT’s that were doing their best with what they had to work with. (You know who you are, and I thank you for advising me to hurry up and get him out of there, you probably saved my dad’s life)-My father was admitted after a hospital stay for rehab. He was quite disoriented when he got there due to being elderly and having slight delirium from being in hospital for a week. He kept trying to get out of bed (bed bars, alarms are not allowed in nursing homes any more) top administrator assured us they would change his bed to a “scoop” style bed, put mats down on sides of bed, and have 15 minute bed checks before we left for the night. When I arrived the following a.m. NOT one of the above was done. He went from being able to walk with assistance to bed bound and incoherent in 4 days.-Another morning I arrived and he had fecal matter stains all over his hands and under his nails, and had been laying in a soiled diaper for quite some time. They were about to serve him breakfast without cleaning him up first. I had to find the new morning nurse and show her his condition.-Due to low blood pressure drops he was not able to lay flat and needed oxygen. I arrived this morning at 7:30 to find him legs elevated, head of bed down and his oxygen cannula was off. His health had deteriorated so badly that we had to return him to the hospital immediately. Hospital found him dehydrated, under oxygenated, and in very poor condition. He is currently in a step down unit from ICU and hopefully will be able to recover from this.-I would not recommend this place foryour loved ones.Added 12/16-Unfortunately, my dad passed away today.**I find it interesting that the facility is contacting people to write a review-speaks volumes. I am looking forward to my survey from the state.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN GLASTONBURY HEALTH CENTER ! NEGLECT IS THEIR MOTTO!MY dad was diognosed with early stage of dementia and came to this facility after he fell from his bed at home and my mom called 911 .He didn't have any bone fractures , his blood lab came back normal , ex- Ray was normal too. The doctor in ER suggested to put my dad in Glastonbury Health Center for rehabilitation and phisical therapy for a week or so... All we wanted for him to get stronger with phisical therapy and take him back home. My sister and I were there every day and most of the time when we would come we would find our dad almost naked and his bed would be wet , couple times my sister would find door in his room shot becouse dad was screaming. His dementia progressed so fast in this place , he stoped eating . I spent Thanksgiving day with my dad and noticed that he wouldn't drink any water. Next day I called and demanded IV for my dad . The head nurse was extremely rude said they won't do it just becouse I said so. Finally they ordered IV and told me they were waiting for pharmacy to deliver it . 7pm - still no IV . I told them to call ambulance, but they wouldn't do it right away . They finally did it becouse my dad's heart rate was extremely high! In the hospital they checked his blood ,his sodium was extremely high , and x- Ray showed he had infection in both longs ! He didn't have it before he came to this facility! My dad never recovered... After a week in the hospital, they told us there is nothing they can do and Hospice was the only option. The social worker told us he could go back to same place, but it was different facility under different management. When we arrived there, we were horrified! It was the same facility! They put him in the same room, the same bed!I lost my dad on 12/5/2018 , he died in my arms . There were no condolences from them , not that I wanted anything from them . When person from the local funeral home arrived to take my dad , my sister and i were walking behind the stretcher that was taking our dad away , same head nurse was there, she turned her back to us .I hope my testimony helps you to make right desision .Just wanted to add to my review after I learned that Kevin Donahue, person who wrote his review right after mine , lost his father too on 12/16/18 after being in Glastonbury Health Center care . Please read his review before you make desision to put your parent in this place ! The owner posted positive reviews right after mine and Kevin's , and those are obviously fake! Two good people are dead becouse of the neglect in his facility and he is praising his team? "Great job 5 star Glastonbury Health Care team !" ? Really? 5 stars ? You must be delirious. Count how many people you hurt !I am so heart broken for Kevin's dad and missing mine .
My dad was recently discharged from Glastonbury Health Care Center and just before we left, I spoke with the Head lady to let her know how awesome his care was and how friendly the staff was to him. She had given me a call yesterday to write a review on google. I am appalled to say the least at the reviews given. My dad enjoyed his stay and Glastonbury will be our go to place if we ever need them again! I won't think twice about referring Glastonbury!
My mom has recently completed her rehab stay at Glastonbury Healthcare Center and I was very pleased with the care she received after her hospitalization. The nurses were all caring and attentive to her needs, the rehab team great and energetic, the administration approachable and involved with her care. She was discharged home in great shape and would certainly choose Glastonbury Healthcare Center in the future if she needs it!
I’m reading the recent reviews and feel compelled to comment because my experience with GHCC was very good! My mother went there for rehab after knee replacement. The office staff was helpful, the nurses were fantastic and the rehab therapists were the best. She did the exercises that she was supposed to do, went home earlier than expected and had a full recovery. I understand that grief is hard and people need someone to blame, but this facility does not have a separate ‘hospice area’, nor does it smell like feces!! I have recommended GHCC to family and friends, and would again.
Please don’t bring your elders or family here until a serious health inspection and staff revaluation takes place. Nothing is ethical there all the higher up (managers, hr, nursing directors) work together as one to keep anything other than their rules confined in the building and staff group so no one else finds out the wrong doings happening. Walking the halls when visiting my relative it smelled like patients were laying in their own feeces and urine. One time there was a bunch of ants crawling behind my granddads bed and was told his room was already cleaned for the day. I don’t even have a clue how someone can eat or even have the food they serve on a daily basis it’s horrific. When people say how bad this place is managed and running it’s 120% true. I can see there are good staff trying to actually do the job right or improve the wrong. I feel like this place has so much potential with newer management... but right now, don’t even step a foot in there let alone bring a family member there.
