My friend moved to Sheridan at Green Oaks Independent Living during the pandemic. Besides the stress of the pandemic, she was also moving under other difficult personal circumstances. Living in another state, I could not be with her at this time and was very concerned about her transition. Well, I was simply amazed by the professionalism, kindness and get-it-done attitude of the staff and the wide range of services that were available to her. Her move was efficiently facilitated, her furniture nicely placed in her new apartment and all her things unpacked and put away. What I thought was going to be extremely hard for her to manage was handled with ease. Once she was settled, the staff made sure she felt welcome and her needs were taken care of. Having transportation to all her medical appointments and assistance with any handyman-type tasks in her apartment were also a huge plus. She seems very pleased with the quality of the food, but is also happy to have her own little kitchen when she feels like doing a bit of cooking. All in all, she now has the benefits of living on her own, without the worries of feeling isolated or without support when she needs it. I can't say enough good things about what I've observed so far, and I'm looking forward to a visit when I'm finally able to travel. Kudos to all the staff at the Sheridan!
Our loved one resided on the Memory Care unit. Due to Covid No one could visit for about three months. During that time his GPS was not functioning for about 10 days. In that time some questionable things took place to our loved one. He also fell multiple times as he could not summon help. When he did have his GPS and used it, it often took 15 to 30 minutes for a staff member to arrive. (I had heard other family members complain of this as well.)The manager, Jeremy, was always in a rush, constantly blew our family off, was difficult to reach, And told us he had 40 other families to deal with. However, there were some exceptional staff members that clearly had our loved one’s best interests at heart and they are aware of our extreme appreciation for them. Two days before our loved one died a nurse came in and tried to feed our loved one. She said he was doing great (which he wasn’t) and told us all to go home. This caused his spouse to second-guess a very difficult decision to put him on hospice classification. I know her intentions were good but very unrealistic. In his last days, with family present, our loved one went many hours without being repositioned.Overall it was a very disappointing experience. I will say that the unit was always clean and smelled good.It could be an awesome place but there’s a lot of work to be done. At this point I would not recommend.
My mom received amazing care in Memory Care for the last year of a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Her days were filled with activities, the staff was so kind to her, she laughed and smiled everyday, and her room was wonderful. My family and I would visit all the time and never arrived to find my mom alone or sad. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be when we could no longer care for her at home.
My situation is unique in that I am only 60 years old but was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease over 15 years ago at the age of 44. As such, I have dealt with a lot of Assisted Living facilities and personnel. Bill at The Sheridan went above and beyond to help me narrow my search. Not once did he pressure me to make a decision, nor did he get frustrated when I asked the same question four times in two days! He was always polite and cordial, managing to be both professional and friendly at the same time. If his assistance is indicative of the rest of the staff at The Sheridan, you have yourself a winner!
The staff at Sheridan are the best. They go way beyond expectations in caring for our mother and attending to her special needs. Everyone we encounter is so pleasant to deal with and we always look forward to running into staff as they make us all feel like family. Great place, great people. Five stars.
Staff is nice but food is monotonous and not that good. They only give you a 600$ Food budget a month and most of meals are 12 to $20. Clearly you aren’t going to be able to eat 3 meals a day there. Green Oaks has better food, it’s unlimited and you don’t always have to be worried about going over budget.
Just want to say how wonderful and caring the Staff has been and is during this crazy pandemic. They are making every effect to keep our family members safe and healthy. They are going above and beyond delivering food, beverages and crafts to the residents to keep them from feeling alone in this crisis. Couldn’t be happier with the choice we made a couple years ago!! ❤️
