In a word, superb. Excellent, caring, well trained staff of caregivers. The entire staff is wonderfully helpful, friendly and caring. Beautiful facility. Beautiful residents. Activities abound. Great food. Moved my 96 year old mother here from the Chicago area, fully cognizant of the risks posed by such a huge lifestyle change at her age. By the first week, she had acclimated to her new apartment and surroundings! And now, a year and a half later, she is happier here than she has been in years. Cannot speak highly enough of The Montecito Santa Fe.
HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES & MGMT!!Started off good. Shortly after I began working here I learned of the abuse that was in the news about the recent/former wellness director of this facility. I began training as a med tech only to find that employees were not counting the carts, morphine was missing from a residents supply and regulated medications were being left out in the open in the residents rooms. As a med tech we have a 1 hour window before or after to administer a med. If it's due at 8 pm you can administer at 7-9. Med techs were not allowing other meds to exit the system and were giving medications too early. Employees often talked about their own recreational drug use out in the open. It was clear to me that employees were not sober at work. Many either seemed high or were always sick and calling in. Their were MANY MEDICATION ERRORS that I would find in the book daily. Forgetting to administer meds, giving the wrong day or at the wrong time. Employees were regularly EXTREMELY LATE as well. Employees would often take their lunch break during a med pass too. This leaves NO ONE on the floor to answer calls and residents would be forced to wait long periods for help. At one point I was on the floor BY MYSELF trying to pass meds, take calls, and get residents to breakfast. THIS IS ABANDONMENT! This took place because one of those drug using employees who openly admitted to drug use decided not to come to work and had NO ONE to cover for her. I was often finding residents wearing the same clothes for 2 or 3 days. Me and one other person who actually had integrity would take care of them. One person was so bad that his sheets were yellow from urine, his clothes were not changed from the day before and his brief looked like it had 2 days worth of urine and feces in it. It was absolutely DISGUSTING. I would not trust these people to take care of ME or someone I LOVED...THAT IS FOR SURE. I brought all of this to the attention of the new wellness director, the executive director, and the head of HR and they (MADE UP LIES ABOUT ME) to try and intimidate me from moving forward to report what they are doing here. If you don't believe me look up (Wellness director - montecito, santa fe). You will see a news story covered by all the BIG NAME news stations covering how the director of wellness physically SHOOK AND DRAGGED A WOMAN out of a chair so that this place could make room for a $ spending person at their bar. The resident (who by the way has alzheimers) did nothing wrong. She was just in the way of them providing a seat for a $ spending customer. (I recieved confirmation on this from a current employee). This is no place to send a loved one. I walked out AND QUIT. I refuse to work for WICKED people like this. I have God given INTEGRITY and will not be a part of this FILTH!! Below is the link to the whole story...pressreader.com/usa/sant…
Ate in Garbo's at Montecito. Maybe those who reside there get decent attention and decent food but that was not my experience. we waited a long time for a staff person to notice us and seat us. the young waitress was sweet but not remotely knowledgeable about the food. I ordered an entrée called "drunken steak" to be done medium rare. this was undoubtedly the worst dish I have ever had in my life: I couldn't find much steak and the few pieces were well done and covered in a disgusting sauce of mashed beans and feta cheese. I don't know why I ate it but I did and was punished later with several trips to my bathroom. Never again.
I started in 2018 till this month of this year. i Was harassed & bullied by the “ superiors “ along with my manager, executive chef Kira Lewis .They slandered my name after years of dedication. I went to the HR as well as the Director many times to talk about whats going on but got called a liar & nothing was done. They don't do anything to help when it is needed. !! HOSTILE environment!!
I stayed 3 days visiting the facility. Excellent food catered the wedding I attended. The front desk staff really came through for me after I accidentally left my medication in the guest suite. The manager efficiently returned it by overnight delivery. Very grateful to Wendy Walters, Linda Krauss, Tammy, and Rachel. 4 stars only because Housekeeping had a hard time keeping enough light bulbs in the apartment.
Wait staff in restaurant makes fun of residents until they cry. Head nurse is the only one certified and is sicker than the residents. Nurses refuse to help certain residents and will let them call for help for hours on end. Chris, the supervisor of the housekeeping dept, is never there and the girl who covered for him just quit due to the hostile work environment he created. Hired his wives cousin and said cousin got coworker pregnant on premises. His wife then harassed the female worker and shows up to work every other day. The female worker was fired and no action was taken against anyone else.
