Our 95-yr-old Aunt (who is a widow and childless) has lived at Sunrise Belmont in the reminiscent wing for two years now. During that time, she has received outstanding, consistent care. She is well-groomed and well-fed. Her studio is spacious and clean.The communication with staff has been excellent which gives us peace of mind, especially now during the coronavirus shutdown. Though we can't visit during this time, the FaceTime calls initiated by staff are appreciated.We are so thankful many of the Sunrise caregivers are long-timers. Their experience, dedication, and patience shows. Our Aunt is wheelchair-bound, so the extra care needed to keep her functioning and healthy has been amazing. Grateful for their attentiveness and kindness.
My dad has been living at Sunrise for 5 months now, and we couldn't be happier that we found this perfect place for him. As my husband puts it, Sunrise is like the "cruise ship" of assisted living. The place is clean, and everyone is friendly and helpful. When you are on the premises, you wouldn't know that you are in an assisted living facility. We are lucky that an opening for a studio opens up after we were on the waiting list for 3-4 months. The Sales Director Cindi Duncan was very helpful and helped our family get my dad into the facility as soon as something opens up. We are blessed by the help from everyone at Sunrise who assisted my dad's smooth transition into their facility.
Following a life altering fall, becoming wheelchair bound 24/7, my 85 year "young" mother was unable to return to her own home of more than 60 years. I had the emotionally heartbreaking task of locating an assisted living facility for my mom and best friend. After visiting several facilities which I often left in disbelief or in tears, I was contacted by a Care Service that initiated a tour on my behalf. Unlike other Yelp posts I've read regarding Sunrise of Belmont , I can only share extremely appreciative compliments toward everyone in every capacity. My mother requires assistance with nearly every aspect of her daily life and has been so well cared for from her immediate caregivers who make her fell safe and loved to their van driver who my mom adores. Now a resident of six months...while the initial transition was quite tough as would be expected for a previously independent person, my mother and our entire family have come to recognize the extraordinary type of individuals that take on such work in caring for those who are no longer able to care for themselves. My worst nightmare has shifted to a positive experience for my mom and our entire family. We are so thankful for Sunrise and all who keep our mom safe and loved.
For anyone who has had a family member or friend that needed assisted living, but the resident had trouble adjusting, the staff at Sunrise of Belmont tries to work through the challenges. I can't say enough about the caring staff and management of this community. Too many times, the caregivers, dining staff, and everyone involved with a resident, give their all, but from the resident, they don't always find themselves appreciated for what hard work they do. I give 5 stars to the care staff who went over and above their duties to help my client. You know who you are! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I would be honored to be cared by you.
I must agree with much of what is said here, even the two reviews Yelp has listed as 'not recommended'. (You can read those by clicking on that line.) Both my parents are there now but planning to move after being there 5 mths. In writing this I acknowledge that my mother is very difficult to please and have tempered her complaints in this review. Things appear by my few visits (I live out of town) to be well kept up. The caregivers have been very friendly when I've visited. My mother complains constantly that they do not respond quickly to my father's call button and that they have often left him sitting at the end of an activity and just waiting there. He is mobile but has dementia and doesn't move on unless directed. Neither of them likes the food AT ALL. Constant complaints about it being cold or of poor quality and they often turn to ordering the hamburger because it's reliable. Care Managers and Executive staff are not warm or interested in offering family members any assistance, feedback or even returning calls or email. There appear to be not enough caregivers for the resident number. Activities have often been cancelled.Initially my parents thought a new Sunrise opening nearby might be better, and placed a deposit there. The deposit check was cashed and then my mom decided that her issues are not with the building or location but with management and she wants her deposit back. I have made it clear to the Sales Mgr (at the new location) that she's changed her mind and I've received 3 emails from her offering to lower the cost. When I repeated the "no, just refund", she stopped replying to email. I called today and spoke to her partner "co-director" who can't process the refund because we were working with the other woman. Then I got a call an hour later from the Director of Operations who wants to know what's wrong and if he can help. Yes, he CAN help -- by processing the refund that we've asked for some 4 times now.We have not had a positive experience here and though it looks lovely on the surface, I'd encourage folks to look very deeply at the care, or perhaps see if they can arrange a "respite care" visit for say 2-3 weeks to see if their family member likes it there.
I have worked at several assisted living facilities, all of them stellar, in my opinion & I find it a privilege to work for this Sunrise facility that is equal. This staff is highly trained in each of the area, admin, Care Mgrs., Nurses, Kitchen, et al. The Life Enrichment activities are based of the science of what seniors need and desire. The building is in a stunning Victorian style and the common areas are both beautiful and spotless. In addition, our residents, that we treat as family, can enjoy our great Bay Area climate for either our indoor or outdoor porches WITH rocking chairs. The respect, kindness, and joy we extend to our residents we extend to each other as employees. I wouldn't hesitate to let my parents experience all the joy in the building were they to need it.
