I was transferred to Solaris Coconut Creek last week for post op rehab. Getting medication is an ongoing daily exercise in frustration. Ring the nurse bell and wait often multiple hours. One nurse told me I was out of meds! How can a medical unit not have prescribed medication? I have one leg fully non weight bearing so am dependent upon staff. Apparently under staffed on weekends as there is no help available for even basic toilets. Patients who are not mobile are put in adult diapers and pretty much ignored. This leads to UTI’s and pressure ulcers not to mention extremely unhealthy and uncomfortable conditions for the patient. I came here expecting PT. M-F it’s less than 30 min per day and on the weekend less than 10. If I were recuperating at home, my insurance covers 1 hour three times each week. The limited number of hour’s provided in this rehab facility won’t get me rehabbed in any timely manner. I have been waiting since I got here to see a dermatologist for a possible fungal infection on my foot. There is no set schedule for visits and no one can tell me when this doctor is likely to show up. It’s Sunday evening and I have been waiting 4 hours for pain meds - multiple calls to an aide who says nurse knows and will be here. At this point I have no recourse except waiting. Leaving AMA is not an option, as much as I would like to leave, since that would invalidate the home health care I will need. Shift has now changed and incoming nurse and aide have no idea what I am waiting for.
