They steal pain medication from patients. They yell, scream and cuss at residents and their families. They are a garbage facility with garbage staff. They treat the patients like dogs, refusing basic care. Even made fun of my elderly grandmother for being blind. I wouldn't send my ex mother in law there, and I hate her. They should be reported to every state board and shut down. They also have bed bugs and roaches.
I cannot visit my mother because of the quarantine and when I asked to speak with her on the phone (every day for the entire month) they told me she is non-verbal but will not give me details about when she became unable to speak or what I can do to communicate with her. If they truly care about those they care for, this would not be my experience. How alone and frightened my Mother must be. Please don’t let this happen to members of your family. Move them while you can!
Currently an employee here and i will say my boss is one of the best ive had in a long time. The residents are an awesome part of this job as well. I love going in every day and seeing the residents i clean for. They make my whole day. However unhappy with a few things but the good outweighs the bad!
Our family had a horrible experience with Oak Manor. I'm disappointed and appalled at the lack quality of care and attention received at this place. They charge an astronomical amount of money to stay there and yet they have no activities for the residents. (I'm speaking in the skilled nursing area - East Wing). These old people sit by themselves in the hallways in their wheelchairs with no one talking to them and nothing to do. No tv, no cards, board games and no one changing their adult diapers. They smell like urine. The nurses stand around talking about personal issues. Under no circumstances would I ever leave another loved one at this location for rehab care. There are many other great Nursing facilities around the area.
Oak Manor was a good place when we first arrived with our beloved parent. The staff had longevity, worked well together as a team, the place was clean, staff responsive and meals inviting. Within the next 9 months the place quickly deteriorated as the CBAs became a revolving door and the better Nurses left. The air conditioning frequently broke and if it happened the residents would suffer until the weekday. The management was apathetic and got worse when it was turned over to the younger generation and the clique that were high school buddies a decade earlier. Every week, especially in the evening you would see residents with ice packs or coloring books in the hallway under observation from falls. Too many were scared of their CNAs and a couple of Nurses were not aware they were being watched as they belittled Well meaning CNAs that had too many residents to care for since the inspections were over. The vocal and best CNAs that reported the favorite slackers were bad listed. Not a place I would take anyone I cared for. There were repeated outbreaks of flus with frequent turnovers. So much potential, lots of lip service and reporting through the chain was in vain and met with reprisal.
Very well run rehab center with caring skilled therapists! The place is kept very clean and up to date with all equipment and therapies. If a family member needs therapy I especially loved PTA Janelle. She really cared and spent time with all her patients making sure they were happy and progressing well.
Did not have a good experience at this facility, and my mother was in and out of rehab centers for months so I have a lot to compare with this one. After arriving, she was not given her evening or morning medication. Caregiving was minimal, and many times she was left in the bathroom over thirty minutes. One employee actually removed her wheelchair from beside her bed and placed it in the bathroom to keep her from moving about despite the fact she was mobile and not hooked to a security monitor. When her roommate died the body was left in the room with my mother for hours. The rehab portion was fine, but the care of patients is very lacking. We finally left the facility and went elsewhere. I would give this place s zero if I could. Horrific.
My 92 year old WWII DAD went into this facility for rehab after a broken hip....went thru the surgery beautifully...had a swallowing problem...need thickened everything...1st day....walked in and someone had served him with a cup of iced water and straw....that was a no no..2nd day...bed alarm sounded for 15 minutes..awaiting a nurse to check on dad.. notta.....3rd day....dad was doing great....After visitation with the family I wheeled dad back to the nurses station...parked his tried brakes..afterward wchr armed and ready...advised we were leaving... 6 hrs later I received a call asking me if I had received a call from the facility?????? No I hadn't! !!! Advised dad had to stand up and fell and broke his shoulder...same side as hip....No rehab....where were the nurses...supposedly close to dad at the nurses station...I was told dad's wchr alarm was sounding but nothing... phone call to me??? 6 hrs later....nothing on my cell phone log...or answering machine at home....my dad passed away on 7/8 2016.. I miss u dad....wanted to give a -0 star...but not an option
I am so pleased with living at Oak Manor. It is a beautiful, happy place. The staff members are industrious, kind, and very responsive to the needs and feelings of residents and other staff members. The food is excellent; the activities are fun and well planned. I feel safe here, and because the community has been created to offer just about all modalities of care… individual through hospice…I hope to live out the rest of my years on this campus.
