I attended the 4th of July BBQ at Morningside of Williamsburg with a friend who is a resident there and it was great. The staff catered to all the residents in the courtyard, where they had the BBQ going and tents set up for an escape from the sun and music. All and all a great event!
My grandfather died a few months ago, but throughout his time at Morningside he was treated well. In his last weeks of life, they did small things that made a difference, like opening the blinds, and even cracking a window when the weather was nice, when he was bedridden in his final days. There were multiple times when I came to visit and he was out in the living room, participating in an event, like hearing accordion players. I still recommend Morningside if you have a family member who has memory care issues. It was a good place for my grandad.
Just love this place! Great outdoor patio for the residents, their family and friends. The staff is so friendly and helpful they make you feel right at home! The dining room is quite elegant with a menu fit for a king! Piano night is provided by one of the local singers. Special events and activities are also provided for all residents. We were all invited to the open house for the rehabilitation center, a pig roast with a live band. Great event! Looking forward to many more! We are happy we made this choice for my great aunt, she feels very comfortable and welcome there.
If you see my record for reviews I am pretty kind. My mother wa there from May 2016 to August 2016 and I took her out before they killed her. Donna the Director of Nursing sat down with my sister and I to tell us that my mother was dying and only had days to live. "She squirles her food and we cannot get her to drink". I go into the room and my mother is crying and tells me she doesn't want to die. In short, she didn't stop eating, they stopped feeding her. Donna made calls for her to go to a hospice house. A specialist evaluated her and quickly reported she was in no way ready for hospice house. My sister tried to speak with the Director, Lynn Irvine and she told my sister, "I cannot focus on this right now. We are being interviewed by Hampton Road Show." I took her out ASAP and asked them to contact long term care with her exit info. Nine days and five phone calls later and I have a mother trying to recover from the damage done of not eating for days and bounced check because Morningside seems to pride itself on incompetence. They are part of Dominion Village so I cannot imagine that they are much better.Shortly after I posted the review I was contacted by Lynn Irvine the Director. She was very concerned and seemed to take my feedback very seriously. She assured me that changes were in the works and had a genuine passion for seeing a new path for the senior living community.
My Aunt and Uncle are new to this facility. I heard good things from my cousin, their daughter. I googled for info. and a phone number. What all I searched was very comforting. I'm hoping I can conveniently still keep in touch with my Uncle. My Aunt is on memory care floor. I live out of state and can't visit them. They are special people to me. Thank you for taking good care of both.
I have had the pleasure of attending several events at Morningside and each one has been even more inviting and welcoming than the previous, with lots of smiles and a compassion for thier residents. To observe the relationship is quite heartwarming and gives affirmation that it is a wonderful place that deserves recognition and I do highly recommend.
I am a regular visitor of Morningside of Williamsburg, I have a cousin who currently resides their. Although her care needs are high, they take wonderful care of her. She is confined to a wheel chair, but you would not know that because of her care. She takes part in several activities that are provided, and is always very well dressed. Being a senior myself, it is comforting to find a place where a person can go and age with dignity and grace. I come to either lunch or dinner about three times a week and the food is top notch. Even though the Administration staff is quite busy, they always make time to come to the dining hall and chat with the residents. They know each individual so personally, that they make you feel like family.
I have a great Aunt currently living at Morningside of Williamsburg and I recently went to visit her for the first time while I was in town. I could not believe how amazing the community was. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff and directed to my aunt's apartment. She was currently in the dining room, eating lunch, and I was impressed to see the Chef, come out to make sure everyone was doing ok. I got a chance to speak to some of the staff and found out that a great amount of them for there for over 10 years. They were familiar with the residents and their individual needs. It was the highest quality care, I could have ever imagined. What put it over the top was the family friendly environment they create, They offered to serve me lunch with my great aunt and informed me about the private dining opportunities. All and all such a great experience!
Through my former job as activities director for a local senior center, I was familiar with many assisted living facilities in the area but not Morningside. Since Morningside is close to home, I checked it out when my husband needed more care than I could provide at home. I looked no further after being here. He has a lovely room facing the atrium. He is allowed to have a birdfeeder and flowers in the garden area a step away from his door. He felt at home from the start. The staff is excellent. He has made friends and feels comfortable here.Call for an appt and Chris Vazquez will be glad to show you around.
Last year I toured the community with my brother in law looking for a place for his mother. Christopher had given us the tour and made us feel like this could be my brother in laws mom new home. Although we were looking into the far future, Christopher took the time to discuss our options. The staff is so welcoming! We even got a chance to meet a few of the management team members. As we were leaving Christopher said "I hope you choose to join our family". This meant so much to us bc decisions like this are difficult ones and it made us feel like this was the place to send our relative.
I was able to get a good sense of Morningside when I attended their Valentine's Day event. They chose a couple to be the King and Queen for the night. It demonstrated to me that the staff went to great lengths to ensure that the resident's have entertainment and activities to fill their day. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere as well. The staff that I spoke with were very welcoming and I left with the impression that they were committed to provide the highest level of care. I'm looking forward to returning in the future.
Well, what can I say? I've looked at a few places for my dad when he gets to the point that no one can take him anymore. And this place is tops on my list. First off, the staff I dealt with are great. The way some employees there speak with me and reach out to help me make decisions is unsurpassed--it's almost like they've known me for a long time and really care about what's going on with me and my family. The facilities are also impressive from everything I could see, the staff must be dedicated to maintenance and safety. You always hear horror stories of the nasty and unclean conditions that pose a risk to patients, but not here. No metaphorical (or literal) banana peels to slip on and break a hip. I'm sure my dad could fit right in and might even feel like he's on vacation.
I've been to Morningside a number of times and have had a great experience. The staff is friendly and courteous to residents, staff, and visitors. The building is clean and odor free. The grounds are well maintained with a beautiful courtyard for residents and their guests. The chef and kitchen staff prepare wonderful and well rounded meals and they offer a great dining service.
