Employee Reviews for Merrill Gardens in Henderson, Nevada
3 out of 5 stars. Based on 7 reviews
Overall, employees working for Merrill Gardens in the Henderson, NV area generally have positive things to say about the company. They mention that the pay is decent if you talk to the right people, and that there is a free lunch provided. However, they also mention that the turnover rate is high, the pay is not worth the stress, and there is no work/life balance. They also mention that the health insurance is expensive, the wages are low, and the communication throughout management is poor. Employees also mention that the most enjoyable part of the job is forming connections with the residents, while the worst part is the low compensation and having to wear multiple hats with no recognition or decent raise. Additionally, they mention that management is not great and that there are too many work orders for one person to handle. On the other hand, they also mention that this is the Cadillac of assisted living communities, that they promote and show true compassion and care for their residents and employees, and that it is a great company to work for. A typical day is serving others through 4 corners management style.Employee Reviews for Merrill Gardens
3.48 out of 5 stars. Based on 639 reviews
Cons:The biggest con is the lack of staff, it is hard to keep up with all the needs of our residents when we are so short staffed. Advice to Management:I think that more staff would be beneficial, as well as having a better system in place for communication between departments. Summary Employees at Merrill Gardens generally have a positive experience, praising the great team, awesome residents, and the company's mission focus. They appreciate the balance of the organization, the responsiveness of management, and the meaningful work. However, they do mention that there can be some old-school insistence upon things like not working remote, and that the benefits could be better. They also suggest that the company embrace the realities of remote work and offer tuition assistance to help employees improve themselves. Overall, employees find Merrill Gardens to be a great place to work with a family-like atmosphere and a welcoming environment.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you agree to our Partner's Terms of Use. After 3 years of rapidly progressing Alzheimer's disease and clinging to every thread of her independence, it was finally agreed that my mother may indeed be ready for assisted living. After extensive research, we found the "perfect" place. At The Palms at Siena on Horizon Ridge, we were courted by all the fluff and service of a retirement resort. They assured me that the new addition of the "transition" unit was the ideal answer. For my mom. They readily agreed to accept her 17 lb rescue dog, without whom she would not want to live. No problem.....They also lured us into a 2 bedroom apartment, noting that she might get a roommate much later down the line.Exactly 8 days later, I received a phone call notifying me that she had to move her furniture over to one side of the space. They were going to build a pony wall and that the dog was a problem.According to the contract I signed, "The resident has the right to be informed in writing, of any changes at least 30 days before the change. The resident also has the right to live in an environment that promotes and supports each resident's dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy and choice. The resident has the right to be treated with consideration and respect."REALLY???????How much respect and dignity is the resident receiving by being made to circum to yet another huge life change, before she has even had a chance to adapt to her new surroundings.PS, to rent an apartment or house anywhere that accepts pets, the tenant is required to at least show a photo of the pet. The Palms was in such a hurry to close the deal and have the contract and money upfront, they completely neglected to do their job properly. Within the week we moved her out and had to subject her to yet another change.Shame on The Palms at Siena and their mission statement!"Our mission is to RESPECT and GENUINELY CARE for each of our residents in such a way that allows them to SAFELY maintain appropriate control, choice and independence and enjoy the uniqueness of their lives
From the very first moment, I have been impressed. The General Manager seemed to be very clear on the programs and we were so impressed with her knowledge and professionalism and caring attitude. The staff seems to be very respectful and caring as well. We truly feel blessed with choosing MG for our mother.
Our loved one has been at Merrill Gardens at Siena Hills since mid 2018. In the beginning she was in the beautiful assisted living building, and in July 2019 she moved to the Memory Care Garden House. The staff are all the most caring, loving, concerned, capable, aware, tolerant, kind, gentle, human beings caring for human beings that anyone could possibly imagine. I've seen each and every one of the care-givers watching the residents constantly to make sure they are comfortable, not in harms way, and talking to them as if they were their own. Each of the residents is "included" in the activities by Julie LeGrand, the Activities Director, and the care-givers, filling their days with laughter, happiness, music & entertainment that they remember, therapy pets that bring light to their eyes and a smile to their faces and an obvious warmth to the hearts of these dear residents. Julie and all the care-givers bring a "quality of life" to all the residents that they could not possibility get anywhere else. When our loved one came to the Memory Care Garden House at Merrill Gardens Siena Hills she wasn't doing really well over all. Over the last 7 months she has always got a smile on her face and has a new attitude and quality of life, without question due to Julie and all the care-givers. We are constantly in awe of everyone associated with Merrill Gardens at Siena Hills. Our deepest appreciation to them all!
I worked with your Sienna Heights property in Henderson NV specificallyWith Lanie Spradlin. She was amazing. My mother is a proud lady who was very hesitant to move from her home but with Lanies help and support we convinced her to try. She developed an infection and was hospitalized the day before she was to move from Michigan. It looked like she would not be able to move. We received a lot of support and even a get well message from Lanie as well as a full refund , I did not expect. Mom id in rehab now and when back on walker has ask to go to Merrill ( major break through).Thank you all for being so great. We will be looking to find your next opening as soon as she is well enough to travel.Thank you all so much. Hope to see you soon .Bruce Bommarito
Mom's friend suggested we consider Merrill Gardens at Siena Hills so we went to visit and were warmly welcomed. Dawn did a nice job taking us on a tour and explaining the available options. The place was quiet and clean. The residents had nice smiles. The caregiver staff we ran into were very friendly and their longevity and experience were comforting. We were treated to lunch in their dining room where Ryland, our server, made us feel like family. We left with an overall positive impression.
We adore Merrill Gardens at Siena Hills. We met the chef and told him how wonderful the food is. We had trout and duck and steak. At an assisted living!!! Lanie is the world's best person and director. My mother is as happy as she can be. This is only 2 miles from where we live so it is most convenient. Everyone is as pleasant as they can be. We are more than satisfied. Thank you Merrill Gardens.
I'm a guest of a resident at Merrill Gardens. Food is great here. Service from waitress and waiters are poor. One in particular is a woman with reddish brown hair and stands at 5'10, my relative and I sat at dinner table and only one menu was brought out, then food becomes available and only my relatives arrived, 5 minutes later our salads arrived and shortly after that my meal arrived. Unprofessional by any standards. I brought my complaint to the desk receptionist and the matter will be attended to.
Merrill Gardens surpasses my expectations. It provides many services. Dining in a comfortable room and the food is regularly improved. Transportation is offered to residents going to doctors, shopping and other local venues. Housekeeping is provided once a week, including laundering bed sheets. The staff is friendly and all know your name. The residents are also friendly. You can develop friendships with staff and residents. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable.Merrill Gardens offers numerous activities to meet the needs of the residents. Movies, bingo, board games, exercise class, trivia/crossword puzzles. Also, once a week the residents are given mini concerts from professional singers and educational programs. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. Maintenance staff, besides fixing things, will help you hang pictures and other personal needs.I would recommend Merrill Gardens located in Henderson, Nevada to anyone who wants to live in a wonderful community.
My parent has been here for a couple years. Moving to Merrill Gardens as owners only upped the monthly cost which is now over $3000 a month (without any assistance needed). As others have said, the food is terrible, cold, institutional and they constantly run out of the basics. The management responses given to these reviews is to contact their Executive Director. How about just fixing the food? How many reviews does it take to just realize you have a problem???? Hospital cafeterias feed people better than this place. Unless they fix it I would say go to another Assited Living facility in Henderson where they truly serve wonderful meals.
