I feel very fortunate to have found a Wonderful home at Homestead Hills.I have made so many wonderful friends. The variety of activities provided is wonderful and I usually participate in most of them. Excellent exercise activities to keep us all fit. I Sincerely enjoy art activities since I have spent my career as an Extension Home Economist.I would like to commend Jennifer Brown for the outstanding job she does as she keeps us all busy and entertained.
I am a former employee at homestead hills. Started out working part time in assisted living and moved full time to memory care and I absolutely loved my job there. I had to leave because my was horribly sick during my whole pregnancy. I would still be there if all was well during that time. Definitely loved the staff, management, and residents. I would recommend homestead hills to anyone wanting to apply!
A Happy Couple and their Dog We have lived in and enjoyed Homestead Hills since November 6, 2019. We had been living in Columbia, SC in a gated community similar to Homestead Hills to be near our family 10 years earlier. When our family announced they were relocating to North Carolina. we felt like we were at the end of a pier with no lifejacket on! We had a decision to make! MOVE! In the year since the move, despite the Pandemic restrictions we had made new friends, love our house and there are so many activities to enjoy we can hardly keep up! Most our morning and afternoon walks (most days) around "the circle" are one mile each, and Bernie, our Beagle-Harrier lets us know he enjoys them too. We, as everyone, look forward to the days when we can learn more about Winston-Salem and its many wonderful experiences
A homeowner has the responsibility and expense of maintaining his house and its systems (including its major appliances), as, well as, the property where it is located. These obligations do not exist at Homestead Hills. Last week our clothes dryer malfunctioned. I called the office, and within an hour and a half, the Homestead Hills maintenance staff had determined that the dryer could not easily be repaired, and it was replaced with a new one. In the three years that we have lived at Homestead Hills we find this response to our needs to be typical. Addie-Lou & Hobie Cawood
my 5th visit to my Great Au times, they don't keep up the properties, Trees growing in the gutters, hedges overgrown, house keeping is non existant, gross dirty toilets just the beginning of the disgusting filth my Auntie lives in. I could do on and on, now I am finding roaches in the kitchen. No, no, no.
During this pandemic I have felt so safe under the leadership of our executive director, Jay Matthews. The outstanding services at Homestead Hills are: housekeeping, maintenance, wellness center, and activities. The Physical Therapy offered on campus has been very helpful to me, also. Most importantly, too: the people who live here are so friendly, kind, helpful, and on and on. I can honestly say that I have not had one minute of boredom here during the Covid, as there is always something to do. Come on over. There is a cottage or an apartment just waiting for you.
I have worked here for over a year now, and it's been one of the best experiences of my career. The community and its members are very supportive and the team members are always striving to deliver the best service. They have excellent benefits including PTO, leadership training, 401k match, and ELEVATE programs that support team member advancement. Homestead Hills is truly a family, and I look forward to working here to serve its members for many years to come.
Homestead Hills is a great place to work as a chef. The ability to maintain work/life balance with good benefits makes it superior to many other places in the area. The health insurance options, 401K, PTO, option for daily pay, and scholarship program are wonderful incentives to work here as well. I have worked at Homestead Hills for over 2 years and I wish I knew about this place sooner. I love the members I get to serve and cook for. We have incredible front and back of house teams, with a low turnover rate. Homestead Hills is a family and our coworkers are always willing to help each other out.
From New Bern, the colonial capital, to the Great Smoky Mountains, a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains, North Carolina is one of the most desirable states in which to retire. I chose Homestead Hills because of its convenient location and the well-designed facilities winton the secure 37-acre campus. Although I have been living independentlyat Homestead Hills a short time, I immediately felt at home in the welcoming and friendly community. The final deciding factor for me was the well-appointed light-filled Villa Apartments. I highly recommend this senior living Community.
Homestead Hills in Winston Salem, NC:I think it is a five star rating overall. The spring activities have been well planned and implemented. One of the most endearing activities was the Mother's Day Gram in May 2021. In this time of isolation with a few aches and pains, the residents were so very happy that they were remembered in this special way. The beautiful floral arrangements, balloons, and personalized cards to the residents truly lifted their spirits and made them smile. My sister Alice who is a resident was truly joyful to have received not one but two special arrangements. Thank you so much for your exceptional energy and caring when planning this special project. It was wonderful. With much appreciation.Caroline Lattimore, Ph.D.Durham, NC
After doing my research, Homestead Hills was the answer. That answer was not difficult as it offered all levels of care and location, location. Where else could you find everything you will need in such a convenient area?It was a fast move as my house sold quickly, but the staff here was so helpful in directing me so all bases were covered. My neighbors and other residents have made me feel so welcome and all is well.I am enjoying my new home very much and all of this in just 4 1/2 months. Boy was I tired, but that has subsided as I am trying to remember names with masks and now without. Thanks to everyone here - staff and residents - I am home. No more moves!
My late husband and I moved to a cottage at Homestead-Hills 9 years ago.The staff and my friends have been a blessing for me me and my familyduring these years. Management and the staff have been outstanding during the pandemic in keeping us safe and securing the vaccine for the residents. Downsizing and moving to a new environment is never easy, but moving here was one of the best life choices we ever made. Sandra Samuels
Six years ago my husband and I moved to Homestead Hills. We moved into a three bedroom cottage that backs up to big woods. He died two years ago but I love my house and plan to stay here. I have lots of birds on my deck bird feeders and sometimes see deer in the woods. Thanks to Jay Matthews we all received both vaccines by February when he arranged for CVS to come and give us both shots. I feel safe going to our salt-water pool, our exercise classes and other activities. Our social director, Jennifer Brown, has done an outstanding job, planning many fun and interesting activities. Our Wellness Director, Meagan Isaacs, plans and carries out many different exercise classes. I feel safe here and if something in the house has a problem, I usually get help quite soon.Homestead Hills has such nice people and I have many good friends here. It is comforting to know that we have a good Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing right here on our campus.Homestead Hills has been a good choice for me.
Homestead is a wonderful community! The residents and the staff, alike, have been delightful to perform to during their events. None Of The Above(NOTA), has received a warm welcome every time we have performed for the neighbors at Homestead, and enjoy the sense of family that we encounter. We look forward to the opportunity to do it again.
I have lived at Homestead Hills for eight years. I moved here two years after my husband died.My cottage is the perfect size for me and everything is taken care of; no need to worry aboutreplacing roof, AC, appliances, etc. Cottages even come with a golf cart to drive around the community.Executive Director Jay Matthews keeps the whole facility running smoothly; we are blessed to have him.We are also blessed to have our new Social Director, Jennifer Brown. She does a beautiful job with activities and decor. The Dining Director Betsy Johnson and Chef Michael work together to provide a variety of delicious meals to choose from. Maintenance and Housekeeping are also topnotch !The Wellness Center and Genesis Rehab provide activities to keep us moving. I especially enjoy the heated salt water pool for exercise. The whole staff works together to make our living here a pleasure. The residents are also a great asset. The friends that I have made here are like family.I am very happy with the decision I made eight years ago.
Beverly and I love it at Homestead Hills. As new residents in a continuing care community, we have found that our expectations have been met or exceeded. The staff has been very responsive from handling our enrollment, moving into Homestead Hills, and adjusting to our new environment.Their contacts and in-house staff made transitioning from our house to our cottage very easy. The cottages are very well designed and comfortable. We have found the food to be excellent and the opportunity to eat in the main dining area or having it delivered to our cottage to be a great choice. We are particularly pleased with Homestead Hill's management approach to the Covid issue. They are exercising all due diligence required but have a practical response to the type of restrictions imposed. It allows living here to be flexible and enjoyable.Although we are still new, we have met other interesting residents and have participated in some activities. Homestead Hills has a lot to offer and we are looking forward to our new lives here.
Since the pandemic began, it has been obvious how protected and cared for the residents at Homestead Hills have been. The staff has been unbelievably dedicated to our safety and well being in so many ways. Now, as we watch the news on TV and hear of local citizens spending hours on hold for scheduling, or waiting in long lines to get Covid 19 shots, we are even more aware. We were spared all of that, because our Executive Director, Jay Matthews, arranged with CVS to bring a Covid 19 vaccine clinic to our campus in early January. His actions coupled with the efficient organizational skills of our Social Director, Jennifer Brown, guaranteed every resident and staff member who wanted the shots could get them right here. No one had to do individual scheduling or travel off site. In fact, residents who live in cottages who could not drive to the on site clinic were provided transportation by our staff personnel. What great service and attention!Special thanks to Jay and Jennifer for overseeing and directing this very successful and major operation!
My parents became residents at Homestead Hills in the fall of 2013. They had looked at several other retirement communities before making their decision to move here. It was a great decision. The two bedroom cottage with an office gave my father a place to continue work with his business and the sunroom was my mothers favorite place to relax and read. It was perfect for their needs. The residents, many of whom they already knew and/or had worked with, were friendly and inviting. They enjoyed the lounge and dining with friends along with planned outings and other activities that were offered. When my mothers health began to decline Live Long Well Care, who is located on campus, was there to provide assistance. As her dementia worsened and a higher level of care was required she was able to move to the Skilled Nursing unit. Her care has been excellent and she continues to reside there with a smile every time I see her.My father fell and broke his pelvis last year. When he was discharged from the hospital he was able to go directly into the skilled nursing unit. There he received care and physical therapy which better prepared him to come home.I am thankful for their decision to live at Homestead Hills. I cant imagine a better place.
I have lived very happily at Homestead Hills for three and a half years.I was researching Retirement Communities when I attended an "Open House" here where this apartment was one of the show homes. It was so light and more spacious than most I had seen I knew I had to have it even though I was not intending to move at that time. It was a great decision. There is a very relaxed atmosphere here with incredibly friendly Staff and Residents. The Executive Director, Jay Matthews and the staff at Homestead Hills are doing a superb job in keeping us safe during this pandemic and our Social Director, Jennifer Brown is providing many activities if we wish to participate. Kudos to them all.It is a wonderful place to live.
Why not 5 stars? I've lived long enough to know that nothing is perfect. However, having said that, my husband and I moved to Homestead Hills almost 24 years ago. Regrets.....none! The people who live here are the friendliest you'll find anywhere. Management is very caring and protective, especially in times like these with the Pandemic and ice storms. I guess you could say that all these pluses would add up to 5 stars!Yes, I would definitely recommend checking us out.
For years I have visited many retirement homes. When it came time to make a decision about giving up our home, my husband and I visited a few more places. Homestead Hills always seemed to stick in our minds. We liked the quaint little community feeling – with brick homes, street lamps on metal poles, and lamps by each driveway. A big plus for us was the two-car garage which we had no trouble filling with all the “leftovers” from our home.We received a golf cart for transportation around the campus and to the dining room. The residents are among the friendliest people you will ever find. They quickly became like family to us.Our wonderful social director has kept us busy with a variety of fun activities, informative lectures and films. She even has taught us archery recently, and I enjoy the ongoing weekly line dancing and exercise classes. We have a pool and exercise equipment always available. Our current executive director is well respected and has done a super job managing the extra challenges of Covid 19. He and the staff, concierge, housekeepers and maintenance staff are just a phone call away.We made the right choice. I hope you do, too.
I moved to Homestead Hills almost 2 years ago from Raleigh, NC. I am in a cottage that is just right for me! I chose Homestead Hills because of the great location, the cottages, security and the size of the community. I have since realized how friendly and caring this community is. I have made good friends who have helped me make the transition and helped me learn more about all that Winston-Salem has to offer. My plan when I decided to move here was to develop relationships not only within this community but also in Winston-Salem. The pandemic has paused my involvement in WS. I have been so impressed with the way our staff has responded to the pandemic and has worked diligently to keep us safe and healthy. I am happy that I was here when the pandemic hit, feel safer here than I would have in Raleigh. I also have a dog who has been greatly welcomed in the community. When we walk, he likes to stop and visit with his new friends! What better recommendation does anyone need?!!
Homestead Hills has been home to my father-in-law for almost 10 years and the whole family is so grateful to have him in such a safe and caring and pleasant environment. He has lived in Winston-Salem all his life and when it came to moving Homestead Hills was his first and only choice over the other communities in the area. He lives in an independent cottage but before my mother-in-law passed she was a resident in the memory care and skilled nursing facilities for over 7 years so we have experience with most all of what Homestead Hills has to offer and have always been very impressed and pleased with the quality of care and service provided at all levels. Senior management is engaged, proactive and responsive and their handling of the pandemic and concerns for the health and safe of residents and staff have been outstanding at all levels and we are so very thankful to have the leadership of Executive Director Jay Matthews with the help of his talented and energetic Social Director Jennifer Brown. And the community culture is warm and friendly and welcoming to residents new and old and the facilities, programs and amenities are outstanding and beautiful. The food is quite good and high quality and the kitchen staff is attentive and accommodating. And the maintenance staff is top notch as well and very responsive. So if you or someone you love is considering options for a continuing care community our family enthusiastically recommends Homestead Hills.
