3.3 out of 5 stars. Based on 47 reviews
Employees of Colonial Assisted Living report a responsive management team that is willing to address staff needs. However, the job can be challenging due to the nature of the work. Employees report a learning experience for those with a strong willed work ethic, but also mention that skills and talent can lose hope in the environment. New leadership is strongly recommended. Employees also report good people, decent hours, and the ability to take time off whenever needed. However, they also report unorganized management, bad communication, not enough staff, and giving info last minute. Benefits such as free lunch and dental insurance are appreciated, but coworkers can act like they are working in a factory, being mean, rude, spiteful, and vindictive. Management is advised to take care of those who volunteer for overtime and those who show up for work, and to seek out better benefits. Employees report feeling appreciated and supported, but also mention that they have a hard time turning off work and finding balance. There is a lack of PTO and sick days, and the building in West Palm Beach is over 100 years old and in need of repairs. Interacting with residents and putting a smile on their face is a pro, but employees are underpaid and overworked, and there is a lot of drama in the work environment. The owners are appreciated for their support, but there is a lack of structure and communication across the organization, and employees are fired on a weekly or daily basis.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you agree to our Partner's Terms of Use. This place is disgusting. They try to impress u when they give you a tour and talk the talk til you unknowingly agree to trust your elderly relatives in this horrific facility. How do I know.? I worked here and now they want to try to shut me up about it.Think again. They just want your money. They were in the news for the abuse the residents had to endure. Don't trust these liars!!!!!
Ignore the positive reviews!!! Everyone was asked to go online and give the facility a good review. Including my mom and sister, which killed me when I read it!!! My mom died of Covid from the negligent staff in this facility. From the very beginning of the pandemic, my mother never left this facility. A healthcare worker from outside of the facility contacted me and stated my mom had not been feeling well for days and was concerned. It was not the nursing staff that contacted me!! We called and had my mom sent to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Covid from her chest xray before her Covid test even resulted. She suffered for 11 days before she passed!!!!!! I later found out they took other residents out to vote 9 days before my mom went into the hospital. Who takes the most vulnerable population out to vote during a pandemic!!!!!!! I found this out by pictures and videos they posted on Facebook!! Some of the photos were removed after my mom's death but I took screen shots of everyone!!! I saw Employees and Residents in their facility van with no mask on! Pictures of workers with no mask on!! They also had group gatherings with pizza and games inside the facility. Staff painting residents nails with no masks on (staff and residents)!!!!!! In August 2020, I went to the facility and saw the workers inside the facility walking around with no masks and I questioned one of the nurses and she informed me "the masks make my lips hurt" !!!! Really!!!! I immediately informed the owner. Clearly, PPE guidelines were not followed or enforced. My mom past away November 21st, 2020. My aunt was a roommate with my mom at this facility. I moved my aunt out in December 2020. After my mom passed, I saw the staff in full PPE!! Why did it take my mom's death for them to start following the guidelines!!!! My aunt became Septic several times at the facility due to neglect of letting her urinary catheter back up. I wonder now if she should of even been in this facility with a urinary catheter???? In December, after my mother's death, my aunt became Septic and had to be admitted. I refused to have her transferred back to this facility!! She had lost 20lbs and had become so weak. The staff never informed me she wasn't eating. Someone other than the staff informed me. It sickens me how both of my family members suffered due to neglect in this facility. I am heartbroken and now live with guilt for not being able to keep my mom safe
I am so excited to join the Colonial Team at Ft. Lauderdale. The building is so beautiful. The residents are adorable and the staff is so welcoming and caring. The holiday decorations are up and the residents are looking forward to our holiday celebration. So many new changes...new roof is going up.
During my stay at Colonial the staff was very caring and attentive. Nurse Alexa in particular came in and immediately setteled into her role as DON addressing the needs of the residents. She was always available to answer any questions that we had. Even after my discharge she was available whenever i called back with an issue. She is an asset to the company. I thank you all.
This is another great place within the Colonial Assisted Living Facilities...Lauderdale Hill is another great place to place mom. No doubts, no questions asked, the team has become an exceptional team of care on all aspects.... Food is great and always with a nice touch to fulfill the needs of our loved ones, activities: Keeping up with the good mental exercise and mobility with care and guardianship. Management: Ever since a saw a Mr. Allen Masconi stepped in to the facility, things are in order, teaming and accountability shines!!! The staff also is of great effort , all of them put their strength to make this facility work.... a thumbs up for everyone there and to the owners who also are making this possible....Viviana

My father recently moved to Colonial and I don’t anything negative to say about them!!! They are so attentive and friendly!!! The decision to place my dad in a assisted living facility wasn’t a small pill to swallow and staff especially Liz and Ben have been more then just staff to us but more like family!!! Keep it up!!! 😍
My wife Lizzy is the front desk receptionist at Colonial Assisted Living so I know first hand how much the staff at Colonial care about their residents. Between Lizzy,, new ED Linda, DON Joann and Marketing director Ben all of them go above and beyond in making sure the residents are happy.
I have worked in over 100 residential care facilities throughout my career. It’s rare to find an Assisted Living Facility like Colonial at Ft. Lauderdale. Their staff is amazing and will do anything to ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Each resident’s quality of life is a priority. The owners are so passionate about providing a compassionate and safe environment for all. Its obvious they have succeeded by the positive attitudes of their staff, the quality of the facility, the food, the upbeat atmosphere and great energy in the building.
My dad lives at Colonial Assisted living at Fort Lauderdale and I can honestly say Lissette , Ben, and the staff treat my dad like family! I couldn’t recommend more a place for your loved ones than Colonial. Especially with Covid-19 they maintain excellent protocol and you can tell they care for the well-being of their staff and residents.
