At our Memory Care and Senior Care community in Vancouver, WA, we provide a unique combination of housing, personalized supportive services, and health care designed to meet the needs of those needing help with the activities of daily life. At Windsor Gardens, we pride ourselves on being able to serve those residents dealing with memory loss, such as Dementia and Alzheimer's. We offer a wide range of services specifically designed to help these individuals live their best lives possible. We understand that not every senior requires the same level of care.

Dining

People with dementia are more likely to have poor nutrition and weight loss. We use mealtime as an opportunity to offer healthy menu choices and create a sense of belonging because it's important for people to have access to nutritious food and feel like they belong somewhere. Our award-winning Clare Bridge dining program offers dementia-friendly menus with familiar and easy-to-manage selections, small dining rooms with consistent pre-selected seating and personal dining assistance as needed.

Overall, employees who have worked for Brookdale Senior Living in the Winston-Salem, NC area have mixed reviews. Many employees enjoyed their time at Brookdale and appreciated the great management team and communication between staff. However, there were some negative experiences reported, such as management playing favorites, family members working in every department, and unfair pay. Employees also reported feeling disrespected and that the job was unprofessional from the start. Despite these issues, employees said that it was an okay job as long as they stood their ground on what they would and wouldn't accept.

Employees of Brookdale Senior Living generally have positive things to say about the company. They appreciate the free parking, paid orientation and training hours, and nice residents. However, they have noted that the health insurance is expensive and the deductibles are high. Additionally, CNA's PTO for the first year is nearly nonexistent and the pay deposit system is unusual. There is also a lack of work-life balance, as employees are often called in on days off due to staff shortages. Employees have also reported that management does not advocate for them and that communication is not always good. They have also noted that the pay rate is low and that the facility is often understaffed. Employees have also reported that the security system is an issue and that the training is too automated. Advice to management includes improving communication, fostering staff development, enhancing benefits, and stopping taking credit for work that the front-line workers conduct.
