Employee Reviews for Brookdale Senior Living
3.06 out of 5 stars. Based on 1000 reviews
Employees of Brookdale Senior Living generally have positive things to say about the company. They appreciate the free parking, paid orientation and training hours, and nice residents. However, they have noted that the health insurance is expensive and the deductibles are high. Additionally, CNA's PTO for the first year is nearly nonexistent and the pay deposit system is unusual. There is also a lack of work-life balance, as employees are often called in on days off due to staff shortages. Employees have also reported that management does not advocate for them and that communication is not always good. They have also noted that the pay rate is low and that the facility is often understaffed. Employees have also reported that the security system is an issue and that the training is too automated. Advice to management includes improving communication, fostering staff development, enhancing benefits, and stopping taking credit for work that the front-line workers conduct.Healthcare Nearby

The Brookdale Assited Living in Pocatello is a great example of staff working diligently each and everyday to be of service to the residents. That is their job and they genuinely love what they do. Brookdale corporation has done a FABULOUS job making certain that each Brookdale community has everything it needs to protect their most valuable asset ....the residents and staff. During this tenuous time of COVID-19 the focus has been solely on protecting them all. Brookdale also insures that the residents are well fed, cared for and with proper social distancing and masking up still manage to continue important social enrichment for the residents. Proud to be associated with Brookdale.
I highly recommend Brookdale Pocatello. My mom has been there now for 7 years and it is home to her. She has built friendships with many of the staff and they are good about always going aboveboard to help her. The place is always clean and doesn’t have a institutional feel to it.
The decision to sell ourHome after my husband passed away and move into an assisted living facility was extremely difficult. Our home was the family hub. A place where our children, children-in-laws, grandchildren & great grandchildren gathered regularly for any and all occasions. Brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends from all over the US could always visit. My roots were deep at our home place. But with declining health and physical limitations I knew changes had to be made, both for my safety and for the peace of mind for my children. So the search began. My daughters and I toured many places, but when I walked into Brookdale I knew this was where I wanted to live. The feeling in the air was happy. Many activities were going on. Some folks were working on a puzzle, there was a card game going on, someone was playing the piano, and another group was visiting and laughing. Someone even yelled out hello to us and waved. That was 3 1/2 years ago. The social activities are so fun. The friendships formed are life long, and we receive around the clock care. Actually after a lifetime of caring for others I am now being taken care of. Our director, Anna, provides a phenomenal crew, Kim, accounting, Teresa, admin assistant, Sharon, Sales, and Charlene, activities; Along with a full kitchen staff, A nursing staff, a maintenance crew, housekeeping, and super caregivers. Living here opened a whole new rich chapter. In my life. Thanks Brookdale, Debbie
Of all the assisted living facilities I have worked for this is by fare the best. I am the activities director and even with The present covid19 I find things for the residents to do from in room country store to making stepping stones and many other in house activities . Our staff truly care about the residents and work hard to see them healthy and happy love my job ,residents, and co-workers.
I would not reccomend this assisted living to anyone because since they got new management the place has gone down hill. The old management use to give me updates and call when there seemed to be any issues with meds or any updates with drs. The new management are rude and all the CNA's that use to work there have quit. I use to think of this as a great place for my loved one. If at all possible ask the residents how they like living there before you put your loved one there. This is for the chubbuck brookdale assisted living
My Mother just made the transition to Brookdale Pocatello, I can not tell you how much Sharon Nilson helped make this move not only affordable but also went above and beyond her job to make this move comfortable for my mother. Sharon and the rest of the staff have been warm and kind, like a family. Thank you Sharon and all the staff at Brookdale.
My father spent his last few months with the staff at Brookdale. He suffered from dementia and incontinence and when he was not sleeping he could be a serious grouch, but they loved him anyhow. They would smile every time they saw us coming and give us updates on his condition daily. I don't know how these nurses do it, they show suck love and respect for every charge in their care. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone looking for the best care for a loved one.
