    Community Overview

The Terraces is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) situated on a sprawling 22-acre campus, encompassing two full blocks. As a nonprofit entity under the HumanGood organization, it offers a range of living options including 209 independent living apartments, 49 assisted living apartments, 25 support studios, and a skilled nursing and rehab facility with up to 63 beds. The community is designed with a low-rise architectural style, with the tallest building being three floors and others featuring two floors or ground-level access.

    Environment and Amenities

The Terraces prides itself on its extensive gardens, fruit trees, and outdoor spaces conducive to walking and socializing. The community offers 14 different floor plans for independent living, ranging from one-bedroom units to two-bedroom apartments with a den and a detached garage. Amenities include weekly housekeeping, Cox cable, internet, utilities, a fitness team, meal credits, a main dining room for sit-down meals, a bistro for casual dining, activities, and transportation services.

    Care Options

Residents have priority access to higher levels of care, with the option to transition as needed or to age in place with the assistance of the community's wellness team. The wellness team can provide minor care services such as showers and minor wound care, and they are the first responders in case of emergencies.

    Safety Features

Residents are provided with pendants for emergency assistance, and pull cords are installed in bathrooms. The community has a wellness team for first response and works closely with the local fire department. Security measures are being enhanced, including the potential addition of a second security person.

    Resident Support and Transition

The Terraces offers support for residents transitioning into the community, including the services of moving coordinators. The community also provides options for respite care in assisted living for short-term stays.

    Pet Policy

Pets are welcome at The Terraces, with a two-pet minimum and a requirement for pets to meet with the director of residential services to ensure friendliness. A non-refundable fee is charged per pet, and up-to-date licenses and vaccinations are required. The community also features a doggy run area.

    Communication with Families

The Terraces utilizes an in-house channel and app to communicate with residents and their families, providing updates and information about community events and activities.

    Transportation Services

Transportation is provided within a 10-mile radius for doctor's appointments, with the driver waiting for residents during their visit. Additional transportation is available for grocery shopping, entertainment, and other activities.

    Dining Experience

    Review Summary

The following is an AI generated summary of the reviews of the community from across the web.

Reviews of the senior living community highlight a mix of experiences, ranging from highly positive to critical concerns. Some residents and visitors appreciate the community for its engaging activities, supportive environment, and attentive staff. They mention the importance of participating in community life to avoid loneliness and highlight the facility's ability to provide a safe, happy, and peaceful home. The leadership during challenging times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, is particularly praised for its effectiveness and care.

However, there are significant concerns raised about certain aspects of the community. Issues include poor telephone etiquette, unprofessional behavior from some administrative staff, and serious allegations of neglect and mistreatment in the skilled nursing facility. Concerns about the handling of residents' valuables and potentially exploitative financial agreements have also been raised. Despite these issues, some reviews commend the physical therapy team and the overall quality of care provided to residents.

On the positive side, many reviews celebrate the facility's upscale, resort-like living conditions, well-maintained grounds, and the personal touch of staff members who remember residents' names. The community is described as clean, beautiful, and supportive, with a wide range of classes and lectures available to residents. The leadership is noted for its competence, supportiveness, and quick problem-solving abilities.

While some reviews criticize the management and express concerns over the treatment of residents and staff, others highlight the great work environment and the friendly, nice nature of both staff and residents. The community is recommended by some as a wonderful place to retire, with a strong sense of family among team members and residents alike.

In summary, the senior living community receives a mixed but overall positive set of reviews, with many residents and visitors finding it a joyful, supportive, and engaging place to live or work. However, there are areas of concern that potential residents and their families may want to consider.
