Additionally, employees report that the reputation of the facility is bad in the community and that the care provided to residents is borderline neglect. They also report that there is no vacation time, that superiors are biased towards certain employees, and that there is poor decision making and inability to follow and enforce regulations due to inappropriate behavior with select employees. Employees advise that only those focused on addressing work protocol and blind to superiors personal interests should consider working here.Employee Reviews for The Goodman Group

This is alarmingly lower than the average nursing home ratings in the state. This health inspection rating is likewise below the state average. It's nestled within the top 40% of facilities in terms of nursing aid staffing hours per resident per day, offering 2.37 hours which surpasses the state average of 2.35. Similarly, it presents exceptional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) care, with 0.96 staffing hours per resident per day, in contrast to the state's 0.83, indexing it among the top 40% of similar facilities. Furthermore, Registered Nurse (RN) staffing hours per resident per day are at a significant 0.81, which is greater than the states' 0.67, catapulting it to among the upper 30% of care facilities. Also, certified staffing hours per resident per day stand at 1.77, outdoing the state average of 1.51; this puts Sabal Palms in the top 30% of facilities. However, it’s noteworthy that it places in the bottom 40% when physical therapist staffing hours per resident per day are considered, providing just 0.03 hours in comparison to state's average of 0.09.Covid Data
The Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation nursing home is in a concerning position with its vaccination rates, landing in the bottom 20% of facilities when it comes to having residents and staff up to date with their latest vaccinations. Its resident vaccination rate is significantly below the state average, sitting at only 38.9% compared to the state's 52.9%. However, it is the staff vaccination rate that truly emphasizes the issue. Boasting a meager 3.8% staff up to date vaccination rate, Sabal Palms is vastly underperforming compared to the state average staff vaccination rate of 20.2%. These figures position the facility in the unfortunate bottom 20% bracket in terms of staff vaccination rates, signaling an urgent need for improvement in both resident and staff health protection measures.Quality Measures
Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation is a nursing home that prides itself on its noteworthy record in preventive health measures, boasting a pneumococcal vaccine administration rate of 98.27%, surpassing the state average of 96.7%. However, the facility also grapples with certain healthcare challenges. In the arena of ulcer prevention, Sabal Palms falls in the bottom 20% of facilities with 11.51% of its residents experiencing this issue, a number slightly higher than the state's 9.04%. Similarly, in terms of antipsychotic medication administration, it ranks in the bottom half of facilities with 14.18% of its residents receiving such medication, compared to the state average of 10.24%. The home also struggles with a higher percentage of residents showing depressive symptoms at 3.83%, against the state's 2.58%, placing it in the bottom half for this metric. Finally, the facility is in the bottom 40% in terms of residents whose need for daily assistance has grown, with a rate of 17.18%, noticeably above the state's 11.84%.Emergency and Hospitalization Quality Measures

Hospitalization rates per 1000 days are 1.99, placing the facility in the lower 40% when compared to other facilities: a figure still marginally lower than the state average of 2.12. However, on the bright side, their rate for outpatient emergency department visits per 1000 days stands at 0.63, emerging in the top 30% category, with less frequency than the state's average of 0.79. The facility ranks even better with an impressive figure of 9.47 for the percentage of short-stay residents who had outpatient emergency visits; this puts them in the top 40%, performing better than the state average of 9.97%. Unfortunately, the facility finds itself in the bottom 20% for the percentage of short stay residents who were rehospitalized after a nursing home admission at 30.93%, surpassing the state average of 25.54%.Healthcare Nearby

Sabal Palms utilizes their LPN staff as Nurse Practitioners & Physician Assistants. Placing them beyond their scope of practice endangering their patients. My Mom went into Acute Congestive Heart Failure within 4 days of admission & was never seen by anyone other than an LPN who diagnosed her with anxiety. Luckily her daughter a nurse picked up the respiratory distress & my Mom was readmitted to Morton Plant for CHF.
My family and I had an absolutely *horrible* experience at Sabal Palms Rehabilitation Center! My father-in-law has had multiple strokes and is considered "full-assist" so he needs just about around the clock care and supervision. He has a tendency to try and get up and walk around and has had 3 falls so far due to being left unattended (2 at Encompass Rehab and one in Morton Plant Hospital) so my sister-in-law, husband, and I spend as much time with him as possible. Upon our initial visits we were told that they would work with us regarding our visitation concerns, as their policy is one person per day, only for one hour and only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday (which is ridiculous in itself, but I digress...) once they had us in the door - aka payment - the talk of flexibility quickly halted. I can only assume that they thought we wouldn't bother trying to transfer him since it can be a real hassle and they will usually charge you a transport fee to do so; they actually waived that fee in the end once we told them that the decision to move him was final which also makes me think that may have been just another tactic to get us to keep him there. It's a beautiful facility but it's not worth the risk and putting your loved one in a nursing home and only being allowed to see them 3 times a week is unacceptable - bottom line - especially when they are sick or newly disabled and need you the most. I highly recommend staying far away.
I came here to see my aunt and to be honest with everyone on here you shouldn’t put you your loved one in any facility because all of the staff is under paid and overworked due to covid the better you treat, pay and talk to your staff the better the care everyone who works here deserves respect from the CEO to the house keepers and CNA’s this is what’s missing too… The food is good here by the way I think if they would pay the staff what they pay agency staff they wouldn’t be short staffed and take better care of everyone but that can be said for all nursing facility’s I know this as a fact

I don’t recommend this facility for rehab care. The staff is rude, the food is awful. I saw a roach in the bathroom. My roommate was not respected. There was one person who was kind, Willie. They were very rude to my roommate a elderly lady , very sick was not shone any respect concerning her cognitive condition. Was criticized for her ability to respond.
I have been a nurse in pinellas county for over twenty years ..There is not a building in Pinellas i would put an animal in..But Sabal Palms and no i am not a current employee ..in fact Mark fired me many moons ago ..but the care and compassion is there and trust me ..The staff take very good care of the Residents . SO REGARDLESS OF A few bad reviews Sabal Palms can take care of any family member of mine ..Generally the bad reviews are guilt driven for having put their family member in a facilty to begin with ..so pubic understand this from a medical professional..word of mouth is huge in this industry and alot of us healthcare professionals have nothing but praise for the palms of largo KUDOS for being above the industry standards ..xoxox
If I could give no stars that would be my pick! This place picks and chooses who they will take into their facility. Payor is a big thing. It’s all about the money to this facility. I tried to get my mother into this place for rehab she was denied because of her payor source (one they accepted)and the fact that she was a former drinker and smoker. If they only had taken my mother in she still be alive today. Instead they turned her away. I give all advise before placing their loved one in places like these. Don’t just look at a facility’s cleanliness that could be a mask of how residents are truly treated. Look at the residents, are they well kempt, are they happy, smiling, seem to enjoy being there. Also speak with staff, find out how many falls they typically have due to understaffing, ask what the CNA-resident ratio is and the Nurse-patient ratio. This facility may look nice inside but don’t let it fool you. This facility has many many problems and I definitely would think twice and gather as much information as you can before making this very difficult decision. This place gets 0 stars from me if it allowed, and remember to ask! ask! ask!
My mother has been at Sabal Palms for about 3 months now.Aside from a few of her belongings missing even though they had been tagged and her food sometimes being too salty because she can't have salt she has high blood pressure, she seems to be happy.I hope she gets good care this is the third facility I have put her in to get care for her Alzheimers.Very hard to find good caring facilities. Many of them have money top priority and not so much on the patients need.
Mom was recently moved in the Sabal Palms Long Term Care. She was apprehensive as was I. But mom had adapted well thanks to the caring staff. She is showered more at Sabal than at home. She has gained 9 lbs and gets blood drawn every Monday to monitor her bleeding stomach. I was suffering from guilt for having to put her here but they invited me to a monthly caregivers luncheon where I got to hear from others who understood what I was going through. Mom is very happy here and I can see it was the best decision for her long term care.
