Employee Reviews for Primrose Retirement Communities in Rapid City, South Dakota
2.33 out of 5 stars. Based on 3 reviews
Overall, employees of Primrose Retirement Communities in the Rapid City, SD area have mixed reviews. Many appreciate the challenge of learning and meeting the needs of prospective residents and their families, as well as the positive commitment of frontline employees. However, some find the operational focus of the company to be at the expense of sales and marketing, with inexperienced employees often put into sales positions. Additionally, the salary/sales/commission structure is disjointed, with different plans for different sales people. On the plus side, employees appreciate the flexible work schedules, especially for students. The hardest part of the job is said to be the emotional attachment to residents who pass away or move on.Employee Reviews for Primrose Retirement Communities

Employees of Primrose Retirement Communities generally have positive things to say about their coworkers and the residents, however they have many complaints about the management, pay, and benefits. Employees appreciate the family-like atmosphere and the core values of the company, but they feel that pay is poor in comparison to the market and that there is a lack of appreciation and gratitude for staff. They also complain about the lack of privacy with management, the high medical costs, low PTO accrual, and the lack of competitive wages. Employees also express concern about the high turnover rate, the lack of boundaries between supervisors and staff, and the lack of support for staff development and resident-centered care. General Staff Rating

Activities and Services Rating
This facility is a GOOD place to live. Our residency dates from July 2018. We have experienced both Independent and Assisted Living. The entire experience has been outstanding. The staff are second to none. There is excellent leadership. The entire staff are courteous, efficient, and loving in the performance of their duties. Their service extends beyond mere duty and stems from the heart. They make one feel “at home.”The facility itself is well-built with all systems working efficiently. It is also well-maintained. Noise does not filter in from other apartments of hallways. Single garages are available at additional charge. Washers and dryers are provided as well as basic cable TV. In short, the rental covers virtually everything. The food is always good with a varied menu. For anyone whose needs match what Primrose provides, it is a wise choice. We visited several retirement facilities prior to choosing Primrose. Immediately upon arrival here it felt like “family.” Interaction with staff and residents confirmed this. It is large enough to provide for programs and good staffing, plus being small enough to yield a home-like environment.Alvin L. Morgan
