Great OT, PT and Case Worker support. However, the nursing care at INOVA Loudoun is abysmal. Do not put a loved one there if you cannot be there to attend to their needs. Call buttons go unanswered and bed alarms are ignored; subjecting incapacitated patients to the constant sound of alarms. Requests are also ignored. I had asked the supervising nurse if something could be prescribed to help calm my mom down. She was very agitated and was sharing a room with my father. Nothing was done. As a result my father spent a sleepless night being woken up by my yelling mother throughout the night. He called me in the morning, a total wreck, begging me to get him out of there. I spoke to an administrator about what happened and she said she would look into the matter but I was never informed as to the reason why my mom did not receive the help she needed. To top it all off, one of the weekend nurses was extremely rude when I came in to retrieve something my father had accidentally left behind after he was discharged. The way she spoke to me was very upsetting. The last thing someone dealing with ill parents wants to be confronted with is a hostile care giver. I am normally a very easy going person and it takes a lot for me to complain, but because of what I experienced at this facility, I feel compelled to warn others to stay away from this place.

It is my honor to work here with a lot of the amazing, hardworking and caring nurses and staff. Although the building is not brand new, but it is definitely full of love. It is always very clean and pleasant. We are not perfect but we all tried very hard to get patients better. Patients are getting so much opportunity to get better. Car stimulation, lite gait, stimulated apartment, virtual reality, all new innovated ES, just name a few. I think we are one of the very few facilities that has so many updated and new equipments for our patients. Therapists are all passionated, motivated and fun to work with, too. This is a second home to me and to many of my colleagues. Will continue to provide care to our patients and residents  every time and every touch.

We liked it at first.  clean, tidy, lots of staff.... but... it appears to be a façade.   We visited a few times a week, but when we showed up unexpected one evening we found mom alone, unfed, unchanged and thirsty. They came to take her dinner tray without even trying to feed her.  Another unexpected evening visit found her in a dark room in bed at 7:30.  She began crying when we got there.  She had not been sleepy, had not wanted to be put to bed for the night, but she was. Lights out. TV off. Alone.   She was powerless to do anything about her situation that night as the staff refused to listen to her when she told them she was not ready for bed. She said the aide with the loud voice told her she HAD to go to bed.  period, end of discussion - before 7:30 at night. She was also thirsty and hungry as we got her snacks and drinks she devoured them.   Imagine being hungry, thirsty, thrust in to bed, in a dark room for the entire night before 7:30.  She would have been there that way for at least another 12 to 14 hours before being fed, or getting a beverage. Then dehydration seemed to be a recurring issue.  When we were gone for 10 days, she lost weight, was dehydrated, disoriented from being dehydrated.  We decided to take her to ER ourselves, she also had a UTI.  A few days on antibiotics and IV fluid, she was like new, but still underweight.  Upon her return to ILNR, she began becoming more disoriented and sleepy again, that is when we learned after demanding to see her case paperwork she was being given tranquilizers on a daily basis, (prescribed for an 'as needed' basis, not daily) then we learned from another family that grinding up pills is a common practice.  So grinding up tranquilizers just  knocks the patients out. Her medications had been changed without telling us and some medications discontinued with no explanation.  All impacting her well being. One medication was changed to another one that is not recommended for her because of interactions with her other medications - they changed it without asking us, or telling us.  When we found out and told them about the drug interaction warnings they seemed unconcerned, finally after 3 conversations they changed back to her original medication - but why change it in the first place and why should it take 3 conversations on drug interactions to get their attention. Other families shared with us that if you are not there to feed your loved one and they can't feed themselves - they are not going to get much nutrition.   As we began to notice more, and then talk with other families what we learned was disquieting. Aides getting loud at patients telling them they had to go to bed at 8 PM. Aides demanding dinner trays when patients were still eating, not even half way through a meal.  Then we heard the horror storiesof mix ups in medicines, treatment.  One patient that NEEDED his oxygen was moved for something, then returned to his room, but they didn't hook his oxygen back up, until a day later when his oxygen levels were lowand they could barely wake him up.  Another shared with us their parent's apparently unmanaged pain levels... until they ascertained on their own that their parent was not actually getting all their doses, but the paper trail said they had gottenthe medicine a few times a day. Management will placate you but if you push them, they do nothing, and become uncooperative.  No one seems to talk to one another. Information does not seem to get passed from shift to shift, or no one looks at the notes.God help any patient there that does not have family or friends to watch out for them on a daily basis.  They are not going to thrive. We finally took Mom out, got home help, and home therapy, and she became more lively and engaged, gained some weight back and no more dehydration or UTI. It is sad that the nicest thing you can say about the place is that it doesn't smell. It looks good at first glance, but that façade crumbles after a few days.   We know no place is perfect, but their lack of caring, nutrition, compassion was appalling. Their lack of communication with family and with their own staff is unconscionable. Evenings seem to be the worst. Yes, there were good staff, very nice staff, but they are not the majority.  Many of their staff act like they are warehousing inanimate objects rather than caring for fragile human beings. Bottom line, if you can be there every day and oversee most of your loved one's care - it is clean and tidy. If your family member is completely dependent on care, and you can not be there several hours a day, consider home care or a different facilty.

The staff were all very nice. My mother really liked them and all of the therapists she had. But I had to go out of town and when I came back my mother's health had seriously declined and they told me I needed to transfer her to a nursing home. They hadn't bothered to call in the doctor to examine her. When they did, he immediately sent her to the ER for a CT scan, which revealed she had a serious infection in her brain. So I'm doubting the skill level of their nurses if they didn't even consider calling the doctor.

Wonderful staff and facility. My father has been there over a year now and we love it. Monthly there is family buffet for residents and 2 guests which is a wonderful way to get to spend a nice lunch with my dad. He has been in a few different nursing homes over the years and this one smells that best -- weekdays and weekends. Those who have had loved ones in a nursing home know how badly they can smell and sometimes even worse on weekends when administrators are not there. This place smells fine even on the weekends. It is amazing what a positive difference that makes.

My mother has been a resident at Inova Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for just about 1 year. She is extremely happy. The nurses are caring and the support staff are excellent with the residents/patients. I had one issue with a staff member. Once I contacted the person in charge the staff member was immediately contacted and sent back for more sensitivity training. There are lots of activities and celebrations. My mom is happy and well cared for. That's all I can ask of any place.
