The Arbors at Lakewood deserves a million stars! My aunt has been here almost five years and the peace of mind I have knowing she is well cared for from 1,000 miles away is priceless. What others have referenced is true - the staff is amazing. Many have been here for years and years. The parent company, Americare, is also interested in feedback and does an annual survey. I have seen my feedback produce improvements - ex. a few years ago I suggested they should update furniture and it then happened the following year. I've said many times to CC Kirby, if I need a memory care place when I get older I'm coming here. CC is the best and is definitely part of the reason her team stays here.
When you make the decision that assisted living or memory care is needed for a loved one, it can feel overwhelming. I went through this with my dad a few years ago. It was a sad time, because he had been very independent until that time, and now I was going to have to make decisions that were the best for him and I worried.I visited a number of care facilities, and I have to be honest, at first glance Lakewood didn't seem as "nice" as some of the others. Their lobby isn't as fancy as some in town. It wasn't bad, but just not quite as fancy. Then I met the staff. That is what really set Lakewood apart. The staff here is truly amazing. They care for each resident as a member of their family. They know their likes, their dislikes and really treat my dad as a "best friend".This work is demanding, and turnover in the industry seems high, but not at Lakewood. I don't know how they find these angels that work there, but many of them have been there for years and years. Fu - the manager of the facility, started as a chef for them, and worked his way up. Many of their folks have. While my dad has been at Lakewood, he is happy and content. I always ask if he needs anything, and he replies "Anything I can think I need, the folks here have already got me."At the time you're going to have to make this decision for a parent, you'll feel a lot of stress, and you won't be sure you're making the right decision. You cannot go wrong with Lakewood. They are truly amazing people doing amazing work and I'm so grateful to have found them.
Making a decision on an assisted living location was not an easy one. From the moment I walked in to Lakewood it felt homey. Jan walked me through the facility and answered all my questions. I met with Amber and Cici who both were very helpful. My mom has been at Lakewood and for about a year and has several new friends in both locations. She is always commenting on the staff. She is involved in all of the activities and stays very active. Lakewood and The Arbors is like family to her, we love the staff and cannot say enough good things about them.
We have been so pleased with the care that our mother has received at the Arbors. The staff is very kind and attentive; they have gone the extra mile to provide interesting activities and celebrations for special occasions. We are so grateful that we chose the Arbors and strongly recommend it to those in need of placement for family members.
My Mom wanted to move back to Missouri from Colorado where she had been staying in assisted living near me. From the moment I reached out to Americare, I was impressed. I immediately received an email, then 5 minutes later a call, then 15 minutes later another call. They were prompt, kind and considerate. They worked with me diligently to find the right place for Mom. It was almost too good to be true so I was a little nervous loading her up and moving her back there with nothing but the internet as a reference. Once we made the long drive and went to the facility to complete paperwork, I was not disappointed. The administrator and his staff were so completely wonderful. I didn't think I could be more impressed than I already was, but it happened. I don't like being so far away from my Mom, but they made it so easy and I was at peace when I had to leave her. She's very happy there as well. It's been almost a month and she just reported she's still happy with the decision. What a wonderful caring community they have created. I would highly recommend this company for anyone, but especially my loved ones!
Conservatory of the Ozarks music students enjoy performing for the residents at Lakewood. The activities director, Mary Kay, really goes above and beyond to make every performance special for residents and students. We have performed there several times and enjoyed their lovely little performance area.
Lakewood is a very pretty and happy community. Amber, administrator, does a wonderful job. She is very sweet, kind and caring and sets the tone for Lakewood. I am always confident that any of my clients I refer to Lakewood will be well cared for.Jo BonseeCare Transition CoordinatorSutton In-Home Senior CareSpringfield, MO
My parents have been there almost 1 1/2 years. It's a small facility, so everyone gets to know each other really well. They go to different outings, have entertainment come in. My parents are happy here. There are two raised flower/garden beds that my dad tends to. Lots of outdoor seating. I wouldn't want them anywhere else!
Just left my Mom at Lakewood because she wanted to move back to Missouri and I had her in Colorado with me. Everyone was so nice, concerned, accommodating, considerate and caring from the chef to the DON and the administrator, etc, etc. It was hard to walk away and head back to Colorado, but I know she's going to get excellent care at this facility. What a blessing you all are to us! Thank you for being amazing!
I have been playing the piano at Lakewood for several years. I enjoy not only the lovely folks who come to hear me play, but I appreciate the warm welcome I get from the staff as well. It is easy to see that they are compassionate about their work and caring to the residents. The atmosphere is always so cheerful.
