This little building has gone through many changes in the past 2 years. I am pleased and blessed to be leading this team into the future. This is one of the best teams I have had to pleasure of leading thus far. They care for the residents of our Hillsville community like they were their own and you can't teach that. Through the trials and changes with COVID-19, this year, they have stepped up, gone above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure they were here for those that needed them most. Thank you to the team at Hillsville Health and Rehabilitation Center for you selfless acts of kindness and your ever caring mentality as you care for those that once cared for us.
Staff are caring and dedicated. Everyone tries their best. When you have 60 rooms and limited allotted staff it makes it challenging. Then you have some patience who are not happy no matter what. I don’t know how they do it. Food is an issue but it seems to be getting better. Dad says it’s better than when he first came. A few patients need to be in more controlled environments because they yell all the time and make it hard on the more normal residents but it isn’t their fault. There are a few patients the staff need combat pay to deal with because they are just so mean and demanding and it’s very visible. The nurses seem to help the cna staff in days. Not so much in nights when I’ve been there. I’ve seen the director working in a hair net helping with trays so it seems they all pitch in. God bless them all and hope they are there when I need them for myself.
This facility provided great care to my mom. The staff were dedicated and loving. They tried to help me and her adjust to her illness and end of life. They have a very hard job and get very little thanks but deserve a ton. I understand they are going through some leadership changes which I hope only help improve their conditions. We received nothing but respect and quality care.
I saw evidence of serious negligence in situations with a diabetic, who also had other medical issues and was transferred here as a holdover place which multiplied into days getting my brother home. Completely inappropriate in people skills and negligence of helping someone who was wanting to be home( times limited due to being sick) but couldn’t be released because of this facilities lack of priority in making sure my brother was as comfortable as possible through the days (which were very FEW) remaining for his quality of life. Instead there’s only visions in our families minds of pure negligence.
If the residents got the same attention as the nurses and CNAs cell phones do, they'd be happy and taken care of! I witnessed 5 of the staff standing around in one hallway, all starrings at their phones! That might be alright if they weren't busy but I saw ONE woman running around serving the residents DINNER , handing 1 tray out at a time to a very crowded hallway of residents who were waiting to eat! Is social media / texting so important that they couldn't spare a few minutes to help get everyone thier food while it was fresh/hot? And this is a RECURRING event I see every time I am visiting this facility! (2x a week for the last month) This was just the lastest of incidents! Am I wrong in the assumption that their PROFESSION is to take care of those unable to take care of themselves both in brief and permanent situations!? I want to make this clear, I know NOT ALL the staff has this lacking of compassion and this isn't directed towards those individuals. To them, I say "Thank you and keep up the good work!" I will be talking with family and having our family member moved to a better facility, asap! For anyone who is looking for such a facility, I'd highly recommend taking your loved one elsewhere for their care / treatment!
