Well now where do I even begin I have a lot of great pleasures with hidden valley center of oak hill wv. What a place more important to me was the staff whom became a second family to me and helped me work on getting back to being myself again witch was a job to say the least but so many of the staff some I still chat with sometimes daily and I often wish I could offer them help like they helped me I went to hidden valley after falling breaking my back and dislocating my neck and was paralyzed waist down I could feel but couldn't move my legs couldn't stand nor walk didn't know if I would ever get to use my legs again but with help and hope from some awesome people like several from hidden valley and pushing myself to never give up and still with help from even more awesome people im walking again i use a cain most the time and I hurt daily and still not 100% but I'm working on it getting better takes time and with help from amazing people like those at hidden valley it sure makes it easier and I'd like to say thanks to everyone at the valley I sure love miss and thank you all every last one of you Becky Pugalee Tanya ford Jennifer O'Dell Trista. Liz. Jenny Dewey sam and jen from therapy there'll. Kara Ariel Newsome. Samantha jo Sabrina. Kathy chris ruion id have to look on my phone but I have names to so many more Tammy Nelson. They keep popping up in my mind but needless to say there is so many wonderful people that I can mention from hidden valley and other places I have been but hidden valley sure has helped me when I say that its the staff at places like this that can really make a difference in someone's life and hidden valley center and the staff has helped me very much for that my friends thank you so much and God bless each one of you.you all are AWESOME im forever grateful ❤ ♥ ..oh yeah I forgot something COVID SUCKS!!!
My brother was moved here a few weeks ago and already can tell such improvement! Staff is amazing. He is now feeding himself and gaining weight. Therapy has him walking and definitely more mobile. His social worker is a complete blessing! The receptionist are always imformed, caring and so helpful! They care about his physical and mental wellbeing.
I have been visiting a friend at this center for a while now. I Usually visit during the evening when I get off work, Around 3 and sometimes stay until after dinner around 6 or 7. The things I see going on there is truly upsetting!!! I would not recommend this center for an animal. The staff sit behind the desk from 3 until it’s time to serve dinner. Call lights multiple call lights are going off. While no one moves. I’ve heard staff use horrible language. I’ve even heard some staff members says I’ll help them when I feel like it. I don’t understand how this is allowed to happen. I’ve seen them eating behind the desk while patients are screaming HELP ME. Four hours is along time for a staff member to be sitting behind the desk. No one has been checked on for hours. I have noticed a few staff members who seem to actually care but not many. There’s this skinny older lady who I see running her butt off and this young man who usually wears grey but the rest needs fired needs to never be allowed to work in a place like this. The rudeness I get if I ask for water or ice is heart breaking.
After my father fell and broke his femur we found a bed for him at Hidden Valley and we thought he was going to a good place They promised aggressive physical therapy to get him walking again. This did not happen - he deteriorated even more in the month he spent there. I only saw him go to rehab 3 times while he was there. I was there quite often and I normally never even saw a person come to check on him. He was rounded up with all the others and put in front of a TV each day to keep them entertained. Even though he couldn't feed himself at the time his food was set on a try on the other side of the room where he couldn't even get to it. Collected and then I was told he wasn't eating. He remained dehydrated the whole time he was there. Often he didn't have anything to drink near him or anything in his room. When they fed him in the main dining room they only gave him about 15 minutes to eat. He has always been a very slow eater. I never saw the doctor once. I really don't think she even checked on him. They even talked about a feeding tube. He was discharged because his insurance said he wasn't making enough progress. He left in December 2019. He had 4 new bed sores and his right heal rotted off. In three weeks at home with my sister and her husband he is now able to sit up in a wheel chair, feed himself and drink by himself, and help somewhat to get into the wheel chair or the potty chair. All but 1 bedsore has cleared up. His heal will take a longer time if it ever heals since he is diabetic. He is actually using his arms to move himself around on the bed at home. Hidden Valley was a very clean facility and some of the employees seemed to care. Nevertheless, you could normally find the nurses and caretakers sitting in the office playing on their cell phones. Overall, I am not sure if this normal for nursing facilities but it should not be normal - not when they tell you it is $455 a day to stay there.
My mom was a patient here twice. Both times the staff was very attentive and caring. There were some nurses and CNA's that took care of her the second time that we remembered from her first stay there. I live out of state and being away from mom most days was very hard. I couldn't have asked for a more caring staff to look after her in my absence. That included everyone from nurses, to the receptionist, physical therapy, office staff, laundry, etc and especially the Admission Director Angela Bloomfield McGrady. Everyone was always helpful and upbeat. I can't imagine the toll it takes on ones heart to work with the sick and suffering all day, every day but these employees never let it get them down. Not only were they there for my mom, but they also helped me and my dad along the journey. I will be forever grateful to everyone at Hidden Valley.
My great grandmother was in this facility and the staff and administrator were awesome. I have visited her at different times and for me, there was a difference when shift changes. My best hours visiting were of course every visit but the staff were the best doing morning/mid day. I did visit a few times in the evening and the staff were not so polite and helpful. Not even the nurse!!!! My Nana loved her wound nurse, he was sooo very nice and gentle with her. If she was here with me today I know that she would still love it there. I give this facility a 5 star and it was very clean.
From the Rogers family I want to say thank you to the staff for the care u gave my mother. you are a very good place that I will always recommend to anyone. The negative post I'm reading is prolly people whom didn't visit there family and they prolly couldn't do better there. Thank you all an I appreciate the good care my mother received there. Love u all.
I am a CNA at this facility this is my first job professionally taking care of elderly or disabled people,I have taken care elderly people in a home setting for many years off and on I enjoyed it but I have to say this genesis site hidden valley has given me fulfillment in what I enjoy doing. I’ve been here for a year now I love a lot of things about this facility like it’s a moderately small place so it’s more homie than hospitality. It doesn’t have that nursing home smell that I have smelled at so many other facilities. Our housekeeping dept is just amazing they always keep our place so clean and smelling nice. Also every place has a chain of command even ours but everyone from the administrator, HR, the DON and our nurses help with meals, residents requests, and other things just like we (the cna’s) do. No one is above meeting our residents needs here. I have such amazing co-workers/friends as well I have learned to lean on them for support at work and home Bc they are just honest to god good caring people you wouldn’t believe the hugs and smiles I see the cna’s giving to our residents. We spend the most time with the residents I am so lucky to spend time with all these great ppl here I love my residents so much I always try my very best to take care of there needs big and small and to always be here for them through thick and thin it’s important to me if they are happy or not and it’s important to my coworkers as well so if I had to choose a genesis site to work at I believe I’ll stay right were I’m at bc I’m happy here with everyone (coworkers/residents) I care about. There is good and bad everywhere but I see more good here I definitely recommend genesis hidden valley center
I have worked at hidden valley center for many years. I have also worked at many other facilities. But let me tell you hidden valley center is by far the best place to work!!! This building has amazing team work. My co workers are amazing. Not only do they help me in any work related task. They also help me in personal ways as well. We are a family and treat each other as such. I’m very lucky to be apart of the hidden valley family. Our facility truly loves our residents, we go above and beyond to make sure they are in a home environment. Our activities director is truly amazing she spends a lot of her own money her free time on our residents. I could go and on about the activities she does for them. I can honestly say that this building and everyone in it will love you family member as their own!
A wonderful place to work. This place goes above and beyond to make sure the residents feel at home and cared for. This is my home away from home, and the residents are as close to being my family as my real family. I've seen alot of uncaring facilities over the years, and Hidden Valley center is not one of them ❤
