Employee Reviews for Five Star Senior Living in Cumming, Georgia
2.12 out of 5 stars. Based on 8 reviews
Overall, employees who have worked for Five Star Senior Living in the Cumming, GA area have mixed reviews. Many have enjoyed working as a cook because it gave them a creative outlet and they felt their work was meaningful for the residents. However, they often felt understaffed and had to take on extra responsibilities without being compensated. Communication could be better with some things and there is a lack of accountability and high turnover. Employees also noted bias, racism, gender preference, and a lack of knowledge and ethics from corporate regionals. Additionally, staff was often running short of employees due to high turnover, making the workload heavier for the few employees that were working there. Employees advise management to reward their good employees, especially their managers and EDs, and to always remember that they are serving a population that are living their final days.Healthcare Nearby

My father has been at Gracemont since May and I have been quite pleased with the care he is receiving. My interactions with the staff have always been warm and friendly and I know they care about my father and all the other residents. During these challenging times I feel he is safe and taken care of.
I wouldn’t put my worst enemy here, they have no staff, the head director Kimberly is very rude has absolutely no compassion, The state needs to be notified and will be!!! I suggest before you put a loved one here I would research and investigate and there’s my very best advice to find the truth!
I like Five Star very much at Gracemont Senior Living..Dawna is so very helpful she is great.I love the indoor pool Before the Covid I used to go 3 times a week and do my water aerobicsI also miss Happy Hour it was so much.also miss being able to go to the library. Being home so much I enjoy reading. Also neighbors are very friendly.I also love the size of the Villa I am in. Used to have people over frequently. Also he cleaning gal that comes once a week, does a wonderful job.Its nice having the front porch to sit on and visit with people as they walk by.Also enjoy sitting on the back porch porch.Occasionally Gracemont has outdoor music for us and also an ice cream truck that goes by Thoroughly enjoy these activitiesAlso have a nice library. Will be happy when that open up
My husband Michael Carlton King has been fortunate to entertain the residents at Gracemont several times for some of their special events. We absolutely loved performing for this group. The residents were so appreciative and we had so much fun. The community is absolutely beautiful and the staff, especially the Management (Dawna) has always been incredible. They were very kind and accommodating. The extra bonus has been they have always offered us the ability to partake in the food being offered at these events and it has been amazing! The Chef prepares "first class" fare. I still remember the fabulous spread they had at The Taste of Tuscany and the Thanksgiving Dinner was as good as any of the homemade dinners we have had over the years. We always look forward to my husband entertaining at Gracemont (and we always come a bit early to eat the fabulous food)! When the time comes, this is exactly the type of place we would love to be able to live. We perform at over 35 Sr Communities in the Greater Atlanta area and Gracemont is far and above one of our favorites.
I visited Gracemont with a small group of women. We were greeted at the front door and entered a beautiful establishment. We were introduced to the "kitchen" staff who then graciously served us lunch. Delicious! We were taken on a leisurely tour of the facilities, no rushing and all our questions were answered. My favorite part was the tour of the independent living units. Again, the staff patiently answered all our questions. I would highly recommended this place. Staff is personable, professional and fun-loving. Quite an experience.
Food quality and service for my mom has gotten worse and worse to the point its inedible. She now has to shop and cook her own mills meaning during Covid she has to leave her apartment when she is supposed to be quarantined. Multiple attempts to discuss issues with the staff has gone unheeded. Not one response has she received. I do not recommend this facility. Rent keeps going up but quality and service gets worse and worse. All residents have complained but no responses.
On a recent visit to Gracemont, I met the staff all of whom were so pleasant and knowledgeable especially DAWNA WILLIAM SON, Who were so gracious and showed me the independent living condos. Very impressed! DAWANA Is a very good ambassador for your company and you should be honored to have her represent your company
My husband and I have toured this community and attended several functions. We were incredibly impressed with the independent living villas- they are stunning! The dining staff (Manny) were attentive and the food was delicious. We met with the rehabilitation department (Payal) who gave us such helpful advice and toured with the sales director (Dawna) who was very knowledgeable, friendly, and provided excellent insight. This is a warm and inviting community! Definitely our first choice for Senior Living.
Posting on behalf of my parents who have lived in Gracemont for over a year. My father is president of the Resident Council (Mr. Singletary) and has tried very hard to work with the facility management and ownership. He has given me the following list of resident grievances:The local management agreed to take care of these items but then corporate refuses to talk to the resident council.1. Took 6 mo to get bulletin board2. Windows in Dining Room 9-11-183. Lake slope 9-11-184. Servers needed 9-11-18 (one of our current servers does not speak or understand English)5. Trees along Jot-Em-Down Rd 2-176. Holes by driveways 10-9-187. Benches around lake 11-13-188. Took 4 months to get coat rack9. Paint Road Drains 12-11-1810. Bus leaks 12-11-1811. Fence in front of clubhouse12-1812. Grab bars in all units 9-1713. Tables and floors in dining rm 9-1714. Swimming Pool 10-9-1815. Rec area outside 11-13-1816. Raised Gardens 11-13-18The company has no problem cashing our checks in a very timely manner but have no desire in providing 5-Star, heck, any star service in a timely fashion. They do not honor their word or care about us as people. We are nothing but dollar signs. Items 3, 6, and 12 are resident safety concerns. Due to the lack of service and integrity, we cannot recommend Gracemont Senior Living Center.
My parents are there and are very disappointed in the lack of follow through on many requests that have been promised but never delivered. My father is president of the resident council and has striven to make the property a safer and more enjoyable place for the residents to live. In my humble opinion, the rent checks are at the top of the priority list, not the elderly.....
Everyone is very caring. They really go above and beyond by showing so much compassion to my loved one. I definitely would recommend Gracemont to friends. They offer so many different activities which is nice because it is geared to attract different residents. Anytime I have had a question the executive director is easily accessible and very helpful. Also, the campus is beautiful and well maintained.
