I truly cannot believe how incompetent and unprofessional this rehab center is. My mother has had nothing but trouble since she moved in four days ago. She is in Stage 3 kidney failure and could not even get them to consistently bring them water until I talked to the director. They would throw a diaper on her without checking to see that it was covering her properly. They would leave her call button and phone where she could not reach them, and even threatened to take away her phone because she was complaining to me too much. They told her she did not push her call button hard enough when I called the director because of that threat, because she also had been waiting two hours after OT to be moved back into bed. That is not accurate. My mom is familiar with call buttons and knows how to use them - it's just an excuse to cover their own butts in front of the director. I have had to threaten to call the police, which I probably will have to follow through on because no one will get back to me.
Well, first of all, I do think the staff are ok. Always very nice. This is an older facility, so yes, the rooms are small. My main complaint is that my Mom has been in this facility recovering from a UTI after a hospital stay and she's been there three weeks now. However, in that entire time, I have only been able to speak to a social worker once for an update on her care plan (i.e. finding out when she can come home) and a nurse once, who couldn't provide that information. I have no idea how she's doing or what they're doing with her despite multiple calls/voice messages left with the nurses and social worker staff. I am writing this in the hopes they see my review and someone calls me back! Leaving family uninformed is inexcusable.
Mom is finally enjoying life. My mom had lived alone for many years and she was alone last March she became critically ill. After a long stay in the hospital and rehab, we started looking for a place where she could come out of her shell, meet people and enjoy life again. A Place for Mom recommended Churchman's Village Atrium and after meeting Sydney, touring the apartments and meeting residents, I was excited for mom to move in! She has really thrived there, I no longer have to worry about her eating right because the meals and menus are great, I don't have to worry about her falling with no one there to help her. She's made friends, goes on outings. Best of all, my handicapped brother stays on the weekend sometimes and the staff and residents are so nice to him. I live in NC and she didn't want to move out of state because of my brother so this has been such a load off my mind knowing she's well taken care of. They have great activities including family game night! Where we all got together to compete! Hilarious! I visit often and the staff and residents make me feel right at home too!
My memories of Churchman’s Villiage will last with me for the rest of my life. Great cared I received and unbelievable respect from every one that worked there. I also met friends and always felt relaxed. Thank You for support Churchman’s Villiage! Love You Guys! Amen
The place changes management more often than most folks change underwear. It's filthy the bathrooms, are disgusting. and their phones, for elderly, hard of hearing, patients, are horrible. Half the time they dont work. They have one tv in the rooms for 2 patients to share.. its awkward. I believe they are in definite need of an update. the call bells are not answered,
I have been coming to visit my neighbor. The facility seemed very clean and orderly. Good check in methods. Friendly people greeting me. My neighbor states that she has been in other facilities and she states that this facility is her favorite by far. she states that the staff are amazing and very attentive. She gave a shoutout to CNA Michelle on day shift and Flannie in the evening. stating that they are very attentive, personable, and are always willing to help her out even when they are not her assigned aide. She gave a shout out to Nurse Linda and Tamika stating that they are always friendly and will go over the care and answer all questions. She states that the rehab department is the best part. They give advice and show you the proper way to sit, use your walker, and how to navigate turns correctly. They even have a good fall program. She hates to say she needs the program but she is 85 and falls can happen. She feels more and more confident to return home each day she works with Radika and Jasmine! We will recommend Churchman Village to everyone! Thank you for all that you do.
I am upset that I had to rate this facility with a one, it is more like 0 stars. This facility had good reviews, however since my mom has been there it has been hell! The staff are unprofessional, no one answers the nursing station, they do not follow the individual plan, do not take your concerns or complaint seriously. Please be aware that this facility is not good for a person you love. You cannot change incompetence or poor professionalism, even after you complain. I have reported this agency and will continue to find a way to get the word out about this horrible nightmare of a facility. They should be ashamed!
Words cannot express the gratitude towards the Churchman Village and their rehab center. Churchman Village provided my mom with excellent care. Our family, thank you for giving her the love and attention she needed. From admissions, nurses, therapy, social workers, activities, financial staff, front desk clerks, your attention to me mom's needs were above and beyond!!I will never forget mom telling me that your staff loved her!In these trying times and dealing with Covid-19, you took all the necessary precautions to ensure everyone's safety! Thanks again from the bottom of moms and the families heart. We will definitely recommend this facility for rehab and for long term.
My mother was discharged from Christiana Hospital to Churchman Village for their rehab services. Her care has exceeded me and my mother’s expectations. Great caring staff and one of the few facilities in NCC with no COVID-19 cases. My mother greatly appreciated the special care provided by the following staff:Radhika – Director / PTJasmine, Kim & Ellyn – OT Dept.Pooja, Beno, Carina – PT DeptJennifer – Speech Therapy
It is the only facility that myself and my family will go to for rehab. The therapy team is wonderful. They really work to get you back to being independent to go back home. The nursing staff are responsive and do care about your needs. The staff are caring, compassionate, and kind.
I have been the mailman for this retirement home for many years. delivering here is my favorite part of each day. the staff is always so welcoming and you can just feel the positive vibes though out the community. There is some type of activity going on here daily. Bingo, musical entertainment and even a car show just to name a few. Evett seems to be the residents favorite. wherever she is there is always a crowd. She really seems to enjoy her work. she takes the residents out on trips to all sorts of places. I see her playing games with them and even doing there nails. It wasn't always this way. when I first started delivering here there were many vacancies. once Sydney took over as director everything changed for the better. She filled the place up and has maintained a near full occupancy though out her tenure. Sydney seems to genuinely care about the residents happiness. they seem to be very comfortable about approaching her with issues and from my bank of mailboxes I can observe her weekly meetings were all the residents gather to express any concerns they have. When I reach that golden age this is the place I would want to be.
Our mother has been a resident at the atrium for a few years now and she loves it and so do we. The atrium has provided incredible peace of mind for myself and the rest of my family from many of the worries we had when mom was living alone. Sydney has done a great job providing resources when we need them and communicating with us in many different instances. Jisel has become really close with my mom and is super helpful to her. I would recommend the atrium to anyone looking for support for their aging parents. Thank you to Sydney and the team for all you do everyday!!
My mother, in her 90s, moved into Atrium more than a month ago. Atrium is perfect for my mother. Everyone, from Sydney, the Atrium Director to Susan, the Activities Director has been extremely helpful and most importantly so very friendly. The other residents are also very kind and friendly to us. That was what appealed to my mother and myself when we first visited Atrium. Mom is enjoying the food activities (band concert one evening for example) and the hair salon. With everyday since Mom moved into Atrium, I have seen a positive change in her--it has been such a joy for us all that she is happy with her life! From Katie who makes her bed each morning to Julian who is with maintenance, everyone makes Mom feel that she matters to them and that they care about her.
Bravo to Team Atrium! My parents are residents and are incredibly impressed with the team’s care during the Coronavirus Outbreak. Team Atrium has taken steps to make sure residents are safe (including delivering meals to their rooms) and are going over and above to keep residents’ spirits high. It means the world to me knowing that my parents feel supported and protected. Bless all of you for your dedication and kind hearts.
