  • Exclusive Interview Insights

Our team personally reached out and conducted an insightful interview with this community on Dec. 13, 2023. Here's what we learned:

    About the Community

The senior living community in question is a short-term rehabilitation center with approximately 60 beds available for those in need of temporary care and rehabilitation services. Additionally, the community offers long-term care with around 70 beds for residents requiring extended support and assistance with daily living activities.

    Specialized Care

While the community provides long-term care, it is not specifically equipped to handle dementia patients at risk of elopement. However, they do have a "little wonder guard type thing" for some level of monitoring.

    Availability

As of the conversation, there is no waitlist for admission into the community. There is one male bed open and five female beds available for new residents.

    Pet Policy

Pets are not allowed within the facility, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all residents, especially those with allergies or aversions to animals.

    Room Requirements

According to the State of Illinois requirements, each resident is provided with a bed, a small closet, and a dresser drawer within their living space.

    Transportation and Moving Assistance

The community does not offer transportation services as there is no van available. Additionally, they do not provide assistance with moving into the facility.

    Dining Services

There are two dining rooms within the community, located in the "new town" and "old town" areas of the I-shaped building. Meals are served three times a day: breakfast from 8 to 9 AM, lunch from 12 to 1 PM, and dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The community also accommodates vegetarian dietary needs.

    Staffing

The community is staffed with approximately five nurses per shift, with three shifts covering the entire day. A medical director is also on staff to oversee the medical care and needs of the residents.

    Safety and Security

For the safety of the residents, the facility's doors are locked from 8 PM to 9 AM. To gain entry during these hours, visitors must use a phone to call in. The community does not provide pendants or emergency call lights in the rooms.

    Resident Concerns and Communication

If residents have complaints or concerns, there is an administrator available to address these issues promptly. Additionally, the community has established a hotline for immediate assistance. Communication with families is facilitated by two social workers and through care plans that are set up for each resident, in accordance with state protocols.

    Staff Contact

Denise, the receptionist, serves as a point of contact for the community. With her experience and knowledge of the facility's operations, she is well-equipped to answer questions and provide assistance to residents and their families.
