When my father found out he had cancer, he moved from the mainland to Honolulu. Three years later he and my mother thoroughly investigated all of the assisted living facilities on Oahu; they decided on Arcadia because of the services, ambience, and staff. My father never got to move there, but my mother did. The staff is incredibly kind to her, I get called whenever she has a fall or other incident, and the building is impeccably clean and well-decorated. It's nicer than my own home! There is a clinic for regular visits (or you can continue to see your own doctor or use both), a floor for acute care, and a floor for long-term care. They have their own gym, pool, library, DVD loan, storage facility, garden that you can work in, and probably other things I don't even know about! There are a variety of health classes, classes for continuing education and entertainment, presentations, performances, etc. Shuttles take the residents to local grocery and drug stores, and the Handi-Van will some pick up residents when scheduled. They even have extraordinarily clean guest rooms that family and friends can rent for a fraction of the cost of a local hotel. The staff seems to genuinely care for the residents, and gives them the respect that they deserve. It is likely because Hawaiians tend to believe family is very important and that those older than we are should be treated well. My sister and I thought about moving our mother to the mainland, but couldn't imagine a place where that kind of cultural belief is present and practiced. The only reason I am giving Arcadia 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think they should have a staff gerontologist who sees all of the residents. Other than that, I am extremely happy with Arcadia, and I can rest at night knowing that my mother is in their capable hands.

Arcadia really is very nice retirement residence. My mother-in-law went there for a rehab stay in the Arcadia Health Care Center and had a great experience--with a high level of staffing care--wow! When she entered Arcadia she could not speak, swallow or walk--after a nice stay, great therapists and caring staff she can now speak, swallow and walk with assistance. It was such good experience that when she got home she wanted to go right back! Thanks Arcadia! Tom

Arcadia is a phenomenal retirement community! My Mom and Stepdad moved in there in 1994. When my Stepdad fell ill, they cared for him until he passed. My Mom is now 98 and doing remarkably well. Arcadia cares for their residents, keeps them safe, and goes the extra mile for them. Their fast action when covid struck protected so many. We’re so fortunate to have them taking care of our Mom!

I just wanna say WOW! I came to visit my aunt in Arcadia. But this is not the reason why I'm writing. First I wanna thank this young man of the name "Jos"? He humbled me and my family. We was on our way to my aunt, when we step in the elevator! Me being me I ask this young man! "Visiting grandma!?" (Joking) and he response! "I wish! I wish one day I can give her this! & visiting her here!" I was speechless also my wife with teary eyes. We couldn't tell him, how touching that was too us! Due to he was in a rush! Saying "Goodnight have a wonderful evening God bless!" My wife & I are so thankful our aunt is in a environment that's so kind. We thank you Arcadia! And your hard working wonderful workers like that young man. Till next time.

I am a lyft/uber driver and I pulled into this place to pick up a resident. The sign out front says no u-turn but if you are picking someone up it forces you into a u-turn. The security guard waved myself and my passenger over to the side and proceeded to scold me for making a u-turn into the building and stated that if I did it again they would turn my license plate info over to the police and prosecute for trespassing on private property. The resident was embarrassed and extremely apologetic but in my opinion the security guard should be spoken to about their people skills. This was uncalled for and the residents have every right to be picked up and dropped off by whomever they please.

The good: the staff is very loving. The bad: the communication between staff and residents' families and between departments has gotten abysmal in the past year and a half. And several key staff members are severely underqualified for their positions. Things do not get done in timely fashion, and sometimes safety issues are involved. My theory is that when they opened their second facility, a lot of their best people left to go there.I have a relative there who I think should move out, if only all her friends weren't living there.

I've never been to the place, I actually live in South Florida. I just had to write a quick review because when I called in (multiple times) a woman named Tracy has the happiest, most cheerful tone I've ever heard. Especially for someone working. Her tone was so amazing to me, it made me happy. Give her a call, tell her Jason from Florida said Hi!
