I went in to inquire about care for my uncle... there's a lot of activity going on for the people living there... It was immaculate... And everyone I talk to it was informative and very courteous

Please explain to me why it took my Grandmother to be infected with Covid 19 by a staff member for us to find out that they aren't testing their staff on a regular basis? At this time only the licensed care facilities of American House are testing their staff. Why? Are the more independent but equally as high risk people not as valuable to American House? We missed out on the last year of holidays and birthday with my Grandmother. She's the last grandparent I have left. We have done everything we can to remind her that she is still loved while she has endured a year of strict isolation and for what? For an employee of American House East 2 to not do their job, not wear a mask, and infect my grandmother! She is not the first person in American House East 2 to be infected with Covid 19 while not leaving the building either but on my life, she will be the last.

My 94 year-old father moved into American House II (Roseville) May, 2019. We had toured several facilities and selected American House based on the location, helpful staff, nice room, activities, and the facility amenities. We were not disappointed. The staff got to know him personally and were caring and most helpful. We highly recommend it!

My mom loves it here! It was a hard decision when my mom decided to sell her home, my dad had passed away and she spent a lot of time alone. We were worried about how this would affect her health overtime. When we toured american house, my mom sat in on lunch and made a few new friends. She came for bingo one night and won! She decided to move to american house and is truly the happiest she's been in years.

I entered to AHII in August 2012. It was the best decision I have made. I met some of my friends here, I couldn't be happier! I joined the choir here, that was the second best thing I did. We meet with other American house residents and sing together in he choir. There are many daily choices of activities to do. There are a variety of daily meals. It is wonderful having a chapel here. I do not drive and I do not want to trouble others with driving me around. Having a corner store and a beauty salon in here also helps a lot. I feel good everyday.

Theft is rampant by staff. Management is incompetent and dangerous. Do not put your loved one in there if you value their well-being

I worked for this American House for a year and a half. The facility itself is nice, and they offer many activities for the residents but management is horrible. Residents themselves have told me how downhill the place has gone since the current director and head culinary chef (kitchen manager) took over. The work you do for the low pay is unbelievable, and the kitchen manager has no idea how to run a department. Short staffed, they have no regard for things that happen in personal life with children or family. I had a death in my family and was written up for missing work, i have a 5 year old son (children get sick at times) was written up for absences due to my child being ill and not being able to come to wk at times. It's their fault they have nobody to cover shifts because every person that was hired in there for the hear and half quit immediately. The kitchen manager has teenagers cooking at night because they don't have a night chef anymore because she left as well. Daily residents complain about the food service. Night shift doesn't do a proper job of anything and the manager doesn't do anything about it. My advice to anyone looking into this place for a loved one would be to go to American House East 1. My residents loved me and I was told on a daily basis by them, that I was the best worker they had. I am so happy I made the choice to leave here and get different employment. The only thing I will miss there is the residents. The loss of good employees is the result of inexperienced, poor management. Get it together East 2!

American House East 2 is the most amazing place! I cannot say enough great things about the staff and the level of genuine care they give my father and everyone there! They treat everyone here with the highest respect and dignity.I never imagined how wonderful this place really is, so clean, fantastic activities, great food and again, wonderful people who work there. We could not be happier! I can honestly say that for me and my family, we HIGHLY recommend American House East 2!

I can’t say enough good things about how my aged aunt was treated at American House East II in Roseville, MI. The staff there was particularly patient and supportive as my aunt settled in. They kept me informed when there were things I should be aware of, and during several medical crises they were understanding, emotionally supportive and especially kind to my aunt and to me, her caretaker. Darlene Beckman, the Executive Director was particularly helpful: she made herself available every single time I needed something and she was always kind and always patient ... with wise suggestions. This made a big difference during several emotionally demanding incidents.
