I’m very surprised by the numerous positive reviews here, as they certainly do not reflect our experience with this facility. Accolade is severely understaffed right now, whether due to the holidays or to a more general problem, resulting in the serious neglect of my mother during her abbreviated stay for rehabilitation following a broken leg and surgery. My mother had to wait sometimes up to 2 hours or longer for a response upon pressing her call button. At times she had no other choice than to soil her diapers or bedding, and when staff finally arrived, they at least once shamed her for not “holding it”.When I visited her on Christmas morning, I found her on the floor next to her bed, and not a single staff member in sight available to notice that she had fallen, let alone help her. Once she was back in bed, we could hear a patient in a neighboring room yelling for help repeatedly, as she too had fallen. In addition, the medical director took it upon himself to change the dosing regimen for a Parkinson’s drug ordered by my mother’s longtime neurologist, essentially reducing her daily dose by half, and very suddenly. This seemed not only irresponsible to do without first consulting her neurologist, but potentially dangerous. The rehabilitation therapists (PT, OT, etc.) were great, but unfortunately we were too concerned for my mother’s safety and well-being to leave her here for the few hours of therapy per week, and are therefore seeking treatment elsewhere.
Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living has been the source of my elderly father's care for the past many months. This is our first experience in dealing with a skilled nursing facility and while it's been a learning process, the administrators and support staff have been wonderful to work with, always treating us with respect, and showing kindness and compassion towards my father.I firmly believe that contentment and satisfaction with a skilled nursing facility depends on family being fully involved in care decisions, while exhibiting patience and understanding, since staffing can be limited at times (especially during a pandemic) and all of these homes have to deal with the balance between what families want for their loved ones while maintaining the rigid requirements of state regulators.Everyone we've communicated with at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living has been courteous and responsive to our requests.Dad is always clean and presentable, he is well fed, and since he's immobile, they take the time to make sure that he's out of his room throughout the day at various times to spend social time among the other residents. I also appreciate the way the staff shows humor to my father, since he has always been one to joke around with people. It makes his days brighter. You've all made his new temporary home, a place where where he feels comfortable and taken care of and I'll always appreciate that.
My mother is a resident at PSL. The overall care and concern for her has been great. Since March of 2020 with the covid restrictions and guidelines changing daily, it hasn't been easy for anyone. Jordan and his staff have been very creative with ways to allow us to keep in contact and up to date on the day to day things my mom enjoys. I can't thank them enough for going above and beyond at times to allow her to be apart of milestones and memories involving her grandchildren.
My 87 year old Dad recently stayed at Accolade on Fulton in Paxton for rehab after a hip replacement. The entire experience from admission to checkout was fantastic. All employees that we encountered were caring, kind and effective. Physical therapy was wonderful, Dad loved the food and cafeteria staff, nursing/CNA staff were outstanding! Thanks so much for helping Dad walk again!
My father stayed at Accolade for approximately one month for rehabilitation after hospitalization from a fall. The release from the hospital happened rather quickly, late on a Saturday afternoon. However, the staff at Accolade responded well and were able to make him comfortable, even with such short notice. Unfortunately, he went into hospice care late in his stay at Accolade and died shortly after entering hospice. We found the staff to be very supportive, responsive and they did everything they could to make him comfortable during his last month of life. While this was not the outcome anyone wanted, we were glad he was in Accolade's care at the time. The staff was very clear about his treatment, they were quick to reach out to us and keep us informed, and they did a fine job of explaining the expenses and insurance coverage for his stay -- ahead of time. We recommend you ignore the mediocre Medicare ranking and go to Accolade for the care, which was excellent.
My 90 year old mother came to Accolade during the pandemic after breaking her hip. As the family member attending to the situation from afar, I was pleased with the attentiveness and care given by all, from the front office to the business manager to the nursing staff to the activities staff. As mom recuperated, she enjoyed the food, participated in activities, and was generally well cared for. Under the difficult circumstances of lockdown, it was reassuring to know her physical and social needs were competently met.
PSL was a godsend for us when our mother needed more help than what we could provide her. She transferred in during the COVID crisis and they were very interactive with the communication between her and the whole family since we couldn’t see her in person. I highly recommend PSL for anyone who needs their services for their loved ones. K. Duffin
My mom was at Accolade on Fulton for 3 weeks for rehab and had great care. Jordan, the activity director, set up straight talk so she would have a phone while she was there. Thank you Jordan! This was crucial for my mom because she has low vision and we couldn’t visit because of Covid. She was scared and confused and everyone there was so nice and treated her with the utmost care. Anyone that came into her room would dial my number so she could talk to me. I could hear how the staff would talk to her roommate and it was always sweet and caring. One night was particularly bad and Shawna was there to settle my mom down. Thank you Shawna! Idk names, but thank you to her rehab team as well. I highly recommend Accolade on Fulton.
My father was at this facility recently and I can't say enough good things about it. He loved the food and raved about how nice the staff was. He said that the Activity Aide, Audrey, was very helpful in helping him make phone calls and be able to communicate with family. This is the only place our family members will go when they need rehab!!
In July of 2020 our mom was admitted to accolade senior living on Fulton street in Paxton, IL. She had suffered a severe stroke after living a very independent lifestyle and always maintained contact with what seemed hundreds of friends. We were very concerned about her adjustment to being placed there for therapies, along with the strict rules of visiting her with the COVID pandemic. As it has turned out, we are very happy with her stay at this facility. All of the employees at this facility are absolutely wonderful with helping mom and making sure her needs are met. The hardest part has been our fear of not getting to see her due to Covid, but Jordan Duffin and many others have devised a way to make that happen. He has arranged visits for us and moms friends from the beginning along with adhering to the strict Covid rules. It has been great and we are so grateful for the hard work he has done to make this happen. Thank you so very much Jordan! You are the best!
The nurses are the best. They are kind and caring and always ready to care for the residents. They interact with the residents as if they are family and not just a resident. I've been here about three weeks and have witnessed them caring for the people around me as well as myself. My mom was here before I came and she feels the same.
My grandma was only there for 21 days and was supposed to be helped with gaining her strength back. This place is a joke. When we visited her the Director just stood beside her never giving us private time to discuss anything. We decided to remove her from the location and when she came home she was soaked with urine. She had yeast infections all around her body and was never bathed. She just recently passed about from getting shingles from this place. This place should definitely be closed and I feel bad for the people that doesn’t have any family members to check on them.
My ex-husband is in one in Paxton and I think that it’s wonderful there caring and thoughtful they do the best they can to make sure that he’s comfortable and happy and when I call the courteous and they give him the phone as soon as I can I recommend them very highly Phyllis Morris
Everyone that works at Accolade has treated our son wonderfully since he was admitted by his wife in January. It was hard for him to be away from his boys and in a nursing home at age 31, but his progressive form of ms had him needing 24/7 care. The entire staff has made our son, along with my husband and I, feel like part of a family. They have gone out of their way to interact with him so he wouldn't feel so out of place among the other older residents. They have a very clean facility with lots of activities and a variety of foods to eat at mealtimes along with individuals that perform the therapies he needs. We never worry about how our son is being taken care of when we can't be there. We would definitely recommend this facility if your loved one needs a place to stay.
I would definitely recommend Accolade healthcare Paxton Senior living. The staff there is very friendly and they care about their residents. My mother has been there for about a year and a half and I am pretty much there on a daily basis, so have witnessed this for myself. The facility is kept very clean, And while the staff is professional, one gets the feeling of a family Homelike atmosphere.
