Care Staff Rating
Zero stars. Some of the staff is pleasant and caring others not so much. They don’t answer phones or return phone calls.Belongs get lost or stolen. Those found sit on managements desk. There is a severe lack of communication between nursing staff, management and the doctorThey didn’t follow pain medication protocols prescribed by the doctor.Overall pretty unhappy with our mother’s experience in this place.
The facility itself is very well run. The nurses, CNAs and other staff are all very caring individuals. My complaint with the facility is the actual doctor that was assigned to our mother. My sister and I still aren’t quite sure how our mother’s doctor was switched to Dr Candy Turner. It is our understanding that her speciality is geriatrics. Our mother had an almost 35 pound weight loss over a 4-5 week period. We requested Dr Turner do blood work and see what was going on. This did not happen. The home also recommended that our mother receive physical therapy as she was becoming very unstable on her feet. Dr Turner was very hesitant to order physical therapy. We finally demanded a diet change, dental exam and physical therapy. This did seem to help for a few weeks. Fast forward to just before Thanksgiving 2020 at which time my mother suffered a mini stroke. At that time she was moved to “comfort care”. We could tell that our mother was in severe pain but all that was administered was Tylenol and Advil, orally. Our mother was non-responsive and could not communicate with us. Our mother ended up passing scared and in severe pain after repeated requests for narcotic pain medication. Dr Turner did not treat our mother with care and compassion and it is our understanding that our case was not the first time this has happened. The facility itself I would rate 4.5 stars. Dr Turner needs to change specialties if she cannot care for our elderly with dignity, compassion and respect. She doesn’t even get one star.
