My parents have enjoyed 8+ years of experience living at Walker Place, which is nestled in a South Minneapolis residential area near Lake Harriet. It offers a safe, relaxed, & homey environment. As Mom & Dad needed additional assistance, various levels of care were provided, allowing them to remain healthy & independent. There is great rapport between the staff & residents. The staff is very respectful, caring, responsive, accommodating, encouraging, & communicative. During the Covid-19 crisis, the staff bent over backwards to maintain the health & safety of the residents. It was a remarkable all-hands-on deck effort from every single staff member - from maintenance to care providers to kitchen staff to management personnel – everyone pitched in to make it work. The social interaction among the residents provides a wide range of life-experience stories they share across varying fields of interest – music, art, ministry, historical, sewing, public service, business, etc. – which are fascinating & inspiring. The facility organizes many activities & encourages participation – recreational, educational, cultural, spiritual, and just plain fun. They work diligently to prevent isolation. There are Guest Rooms available, which is very convenient for out of town visitors. Also, there is a community room residents can reserve to accommodate a large family gathering. The experience has been very rewarding for my parents & our family.
