Review Summary
The following is an AI generated summary of the reviews of the community from across the web.
Touchmark is described as a great place to spend retirement, likened to "a cruise ship on land" by one reviewer. However, opinions on the facility and staff are mixed. Some residents and their families praise the caring nature of the staff, the outstanding in-home care services, and the professionalism and compassion shown towards residents. The community is described as friendly, clean, and supportive, with a strong emphasis on maintaining residents' dignity and independence.
On the other hand, there are concerns about the management and the consistency of care, particularly in the Memory Care unit. One reviewer expressed disappointment with the abandonment of an "eyes on residence each hour" policy, leading to periods where residents were not checked on regularly. This, coupled with ineffective call buttons, raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of residents with memory issues. Additionally, there are criticisms regarding the assisted living activities being repetitive and boring, and some dissatisfaction with the kitchen staff's ability to follow special diets.
Staff experiences also vary, with some employees praising the work environment, the support from management, and the relationships built with residents and their families. Others, however, describe a hostile work environment, understaffing issues leading to compromised resident care, and a lack of proper management response to concerns raised by both staff and residents.
Despite these criticisms, many reviews highlight the positive impact Touchmark has had on their lives or the lives of their loved ones. The facility's dedication to enriching the lives of residents is frequently mentioned, along with the beauty of the property and the quality of the people associated with Touchmark.
Reviews
My mom is at the Touchmark at Fairway Village. Touchmark is a huge corporation, and likely uses a uniform contract. Do not sign the forced arbitration clause when signing the contract. Forced arbitration favors the corporations who hire them. It usually costs hundreds of dollars per hour plus fees. They have you sign your rights away when signing the contact to delay the process and void the time period in which you can file a lawsuit. They don't duly inform you of arbitration terms, so read carefully. Another evil corporation that preys on the vulnerable, and uses stall tactics and a contract to act with legal impunity. Touchmark makes little and glaringly big mistakes that have truly shocking consequences. Do not come here if you need medication, as they lose it without telling you. They lost four of my mom's medications for a long period of time, without saying anything, while being paid for medication management. Six medications should have been refilled, her heart medication was expired, and they did not refill it. If anything bad happens when you don't have your medication, good luck. Ironically, generally nice, pleasant atmosphere. Flawed corporate policies, or simply piss poor follow through. Understaffed. My mom waits 30 minutes when she pushes the emergency button. One time they made an excuse for delay, and then never returned. Twice last week she waited for an hour. A little like living with "big brother" watching you. Condescending attitude. Touchmark treats some residents like children. The older and more vulnerable you are, the worse it gets. Exorbitant prices. $412/mo. for medication given twice a day. Touchmark's sales team quoted 1 care point $103 for medication management, which is incorrect. Touchmark uses personal, sensitive information against you. Touchmark uses a lot of cya without a real apology for obvious mistakes, negligence and incompetence. They like to have residents' families solve their problems for them, all the while they are still getting paid a premium price for shoddy, downright mediocre service. This is the place to go if you have an ex-husband or ex-wife you want influencing and affecting your careteam, and the way the care team treats you. They take advantage of residents' vulnerabilities in order to achieve their means of over-priced mediocre care. Beware. They spike the care costs for any gels or creams to over $1,000+ a month. Ask your doctor before coming here for a moratorium on any alternative medication formats. They insist on holding and distributing your pain pills. An aesthetically pleasing environment in which to experience exponential price increases in your most vulnerable years. Akin to a 5 star hotel with thorns in the bed, sends you to the hospital, that made you sign a waiver of liability and 50% forced gratuity. Corporate greed is king here.
