I have gone to visit my relative in this facility multiple times. Each time she is completely drugged up, incoherent. She whispers in my ear "They drugged me". They accuse her of being non cooperative to justify what's being done. She is unkempt, sometimes sleeping on a plastic mattress cover. Each time I have to call help to get her awake and dressed, and cleaned up. They have her, someone deemed incompetent by the physician, signing for meals she gets charged for and doesn't eat. The meal comes to the room, gets put in the fridge, then tossed to into the trash can the next day. 3 employees whispered to me on three separate occasions that she had not eaten in 2 weeks, and yet she's being charged, and the added delivery charge. When asked if she can have protein shakes or Ensure, I was told she has to have a prescription for that, yet are giving her toxic sugary drinks daily. We have no control over this horror as her power of attorney seems to be complacent in all of this. Do not put anyone you love in this facility. It's a nightmare to see her in this poor and untreated condition. Her quality of life took a sharp turn for the worst since becoming a resident. Horrifying.
Today my mother and I went for a tour with Pam and Daniel. What a wonderful place and the best part is my mother loved it also. We had lunch with Bertha (nurse). The food was delicious and the service fantastic! Everyone so nice and kind! The Homestead was clean and had a lot of attention to detail to give that homey feel. For now this is our to go place for respite and will definitely be the place when my mother needs around the clock care. Fantastic!!!
I so appreciate the wonderful staff at the Homestead. My mom was there for 8 1/2 years. As the years went by, she needed more and more assistance. By the time covid changed our lives, she needed lots of help and she got it. There are so many people in the facility who are patient and kind to the residence. I could rest easily, knowing my mom was getting great care. Thank you staff!!!
I would to share my experience with the Homestead Staff and how wonderful they are with their current residents. This Assisted Living facility encourages independence and really supports their residents with whatever they need. I highly recommend Homestead at Boulder City for any future residents looking for a wonderful, safe, fun and caring facility.
Today (9/25/19). Went on a tour with my mother. We we greeted by Daniel (new administrator) and Pam (marketing and admissions) both so nice and professional. Had lunch with Bertha (nurse). Food was so good. Lunch crew was so accommodating and friendly. They have a salon on the premises which is so convenient. Wonderful, homey environment where all the residents seemed so happy. My mother really loved this place!
WORST PLACE EVER! Mike and Magaly play good cop,bad cop. Ask about the turnover. Talk to other families outside the building. Poorly managed , expensive, lack of care. I had a concern and went to Magaly who took notes never did anything. Mike Fox is a habitual liar and talks poorly about family members when they're not around. Had a nanny cam installed. WOW! Went to Lake View, at least they try!
The administrator, Mike, is a known liar with 2 complaints against him. The building has a D rating. They are always looking for a nurse. I feel for $4k a month they need to be shut down. The staff lie to cover for Mike. The residents are unhappy but scared to move. The HR person delivers lip services and empty promises. We moved family out! Turn over is crazy and we were told lie after lie. Watched staff make another resident cry. It's like Happy Gilmore ovr there. "You will go to sleep or I will put you to sleep" only this is not a comedy movie, this is real life and real people. Call HCQC and ask about rating or the adminitsrator complaints credential # 2606-AGC-29
My grandfather lived at this awful place for nearly 8 years. PLEASE, PLEASE do not send your loved ones here. They will tell you nothing but lies, and they will drug you loved one up so much that they become incoherent. They didn't even let us know when he was dying, and he had no family around him to say goodbye. Keep your loved one at home, and have care givers come in. If you choose to send them to this over priced nursing home, get a nanny cam!
Whoever the owner is down there Amanda... no your people don't have an open door policy. They don't care about residents concern. The hotline number they give out is wrong not wanting y'all to know at corporate what's going on. We had to look it up personally at home for an employee. You have elder abuse that is covered up going. Employer bullying by bosses and don't care about health of workers. I can go on about issues starting with pay issues as well. Your business does not care and a lot of nurses and bosses don't care. So until you do care don't say you do!
I am currently an employee with today being my last day. When I first started, everything seemed great. But I started noticing people leaving. Being that there's a high turn over, I've witnessed 4-5 girls leave in the three weeks I've been there. Red flag much?.. And I get it...they over work you and are going to implement a red dot system where you have no choice but to stay. I have a conflicting schedule where I can't because I have no one to watch my two year old and was told to figure it out at my orientation. Now that my last day is today, they are trying to withhold my my last check until next payroll, regardless of what the Nevada laws are which stated that someone has to be paid whichever is closer, in a week or next payroll. I am moving to another state and won't be able to pick it up most likely. I asked if I can have it mailed to my parents and was told that they didn't know if that was possible. To me that is an indication that they aren't going to pay me for the days I worked after the last pay period. Now last but not least. I was called a derogatory racial name (honky) by a black co worker and when I talked to magoli, she had the nerve to ask me what provoked her to call me that. Now I think we all know if I called a co worker the N Word, I would have been suspended or better yet, fired! There would have been now asking ( what provoked it) so if you want to work for a horrendous place, this is the best choice for you! And finally, a resident is now leaving the facility all thanks to me telling her daughter about her mother is not getting changed at night and nocturnal shift is ignoring all calls in memory care and assisted living. I accidentally brought a pager home with me that pages us when a resident need anything, and from 10-6 am calls were not being acknowledged. The night shift is incompetent, lazy, and entitled. If they can keep you there until 11pm for you to do their job, they will so they don't have to work. I was also told by a co worker that stayed until 2 in the morning that nocturnal shift was ignoring calls as well. I would bring you loved ones in at your own risk because management doesn't seem to care since the same night crew is still there neglecting residents. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star.
