As a result of the negligence of the staff my mothers health was gravely jeopardized. Because of this I had the NY state department of health investigate the gardens. The NY state dept of health findings were as follows: non compliant in 3 areas. 1. Patient care, 2. Case management, 3. Record keeping. My complaint # with the NYS dept of health was NY00250333. It is public record - I encourage perspective residents & their family to look it up (Mexico, N.Y. branch) Jan of 2020. To add insult to injury, the director of Administration Tina Whorrall was in violation of the law because she withheld the return of our deposit beyond the mandated time limit when I got my mother out of there. Only by calling the CEO of Morningstar at the time & reminding him that they were in violation of the law did he promptly fedex our deposit of over $3100.00. When I explained to him my investigation & that his Director of administration's violation of the law, he took it seriously & did he the right thing. I learned that a number of the staff were fired for what happened to my mother. For those considering placing a loved 1 in this facility , consider the following. My mother has dementia, she is also diabetic. When the care delivered to my mother resulted in a blood sugar spike of over 300 she was sent to the hospital. They put my 83 yr old mother (with dementia) experiencing a health emergency that could have very easily been fatal, into a cab not an ambulance. Worse, they sent her alone. Only after speaking with a very irate nurse in ER did I learn that they sent her via cab in the middle of winter with no socks, no underwear, no coat -& in a 1 pc thin nightgown, BAREFOOT! This ER nurse was furious as was I. when I tried to get answers from the staff Tina Whorrall had ALL of my calls directed to her alone. She was rude, unprofessional & violated the law beyond the fact that my mother could literally have died through their negligence. I got her into Seneca Hills manor. They are very good to her. When I asked them to provide an inventory of all of her possessions upon entry into Seneca Hills Manor, it was no problem plus anything I send her, they inventory. Unlike the gardens who refused to give me an exit inventory list, (another violation I believe) & a number of items I sent as gifts simply disappeared - bedding, furnishings etc. It was a horrible experience. As healthcare proxy & power of attorney for my mother I believe other laws were broken when Tina Whorrall discussed private info with 1 of my siblings who was not given the same legal access to info. The audacity was stunning. This vindictiveness from a director, unacceptable. Look elsewhere!
