Employee Reviews for Hawthorn Senior Living in Oxford, Florida
3 out of 5 stars. Based on 3 reviews
Employees at Hawthorn Senior Living in the Oxford, FL area have mixed reviews about their experience. Many find the application process and overall management to be easy and mostly nice. However, some employees have noted that the scheduling system is still done on paper and could be automated or online. Additionally, some residents have complained about the housing. In terms of the hours of operations, employees find them to be good. However, they have noted that the menus are repetitive and they have served the same meals multiple times in a short period of time. At the Steeplechase location, employees have noted that the new managers are by-the-book egomaniacs who like to threaten termination at the drop of a hat. Housekeeping is pushed to the limit with unreasonable standards and employees are expected to do more than just housekeeping. Employees have also noted that the managers don't always take care of issues that are reported and that corporate stands behind the managers and ignores evidence that employees may have against them.Employee Reviews for Hawthorn Senior Living
3.26 out of 5 stars. Based on 297 reviews
Employees of Hawthorn Senior Living generally report that the executive team is top-notch and care about their staff. However, there is a lack of transparency from upper management and regionals, and employees feel overworked and underpaid. Employees also report that shifts are short and the pay is low, and that they are often asked to do a lot of manual labor. Advice to management includes paying better, hiring more staff members, showing more compassion and understanding, and providing better technology. Employees also suggest that management should try to remember the why and be a blessing to someone each day.Healthcare Nearby

The Carriage House has very caring staff. Everyone helps each other and will go out of their way to make sure everyone is cared for. The kitchen staff make amazing food and make sure every resident leaves the dining room with a smile on their face and a full belly. Housekeepers make sure the apartments look clean and feel at home for each and every resident. Our management works hard 24/7 to make sure every resident has what they need and has much love and support. I give this place a 5 out of 5. I promise you this place is a safe and loving environment for anyone! Highly recommend!
The minute you enter The Carriage House the air of the building that you feel is light and friendly. It is a beautiful place and kept very clean. I met several members of the staff and the managers. All of them were friendly and helpful. I also had a meal and the food was delicious. The dining room was alive and each of the residents I met were warm and welcoming. Beautiful theater and other common areas for the residents. I thought the apartments were very nice also. Highly recommend this place for a better way to experience senior independent living.
We selected Carriage House for my MIL and have been very impressed by their attention and care. This is supervised senior living with meals and light housekeeping provided. It’s exactly what she needs and she will readily tell anyone that she is happy to be living there. We recently shared a birthday meal with her and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly, patient, and efficient with each resident.Safety protocols for Covid are in place. Transportation for the residents is easy and prompt. There are numerous activities for the residents. Our family is happy knowing that our family member is comfortable and safe.
My mother in law has been a resident at The Carriage House since 2015. Not only is she pleased to be living there, but also we as her children are happy with so many aspects of life at The Carriage House. The residence is clean and presents with an uplifting ambiance. The managers and staff are cheerful and very accomodating. The food is tasty, varied and well prepared. During the Pandemic the staff took the time and made the effort to keep the residents safe and healthy. Thank you for all you do.
My parents live here independently. Food is great, very well run, caring staff, managers live there. Shuttle takes you to doctor apts, walmart.... clean. Rehab has an office in building so does nurse practitioner. Hair salon and movie theater. They have an activity director and a large great room. When you need an extra, they bring in portable extra machines.
Property itself is very nice has always been kept up nice. Management is delusional and will not be scared to get in a full blown argument with your mom/dad. They have even been seen making scenes in the dining room. Very poor service from administration. Staff is great will do all they can to their ability to make sure everyone is happy during meal service. Excellent kitchen with excellent food. All the great 5 star reviews are from 2 years ago when PREVIOUS management was working there. I myself would not let my parents move there. There are many better places right down the street!
The Carriage House is first rate. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. My 89 year old mother has been there less than a week. She had been living in her own home in another state so of course she was scared and apprehensive. THEY BEND OVER BACKWARDS to welcome my mother and comfort her. Oh yes --- they go out of their way to ensure ME, too, that my mother will be safe and welcomed. In addition to the awesome staff, the rooms are comfortable, the facility is clean, the food is delicious and they have many activities for the residents. Moving my mother into The Carriage House was the right decision, with no regrets.
I recently took my mother into independent living at The Carriage House. Wow....no other words to describe this place! She was given a beautiful appartment with a balcony. The food is out of this world. The staff are kind and efficient and not forgetting - always with a smile. The managers Jennifer and John are absolutely exceptional and nothing is too much for them. My mother is very happy and comfortable there, what more can you wish for.
My mother-in-law only resided there for a relatively short time, but the entire staff from the top down are just plain Good People that really care about the well being and welfare of the residents. If you can't find an activity in which to participate there it is your own fault. They refer to themselves as the Carriage House Family and I truly believe that is the atmosphere of the facility. The food is good and plentiful and the staff is caring.
