When my siblings and I decided that our dad could no longer live alone, it was very important to find just the right place for him. We are all thankful that we found Sunrise! If Dad had stayed home, we don’t think he would have lived much longer. He wasn’t eating properly or taking his meds on time and didn’t have the socialization he needed. After being at Sunrise for a little more than a year, he looks healthier and younger than he has in a long time. He loves it there and loves the entire staff! Sunrise is a blessing to Dad and to all of his family.
Sunrise of Shelby is horribly managed, negligent in care, and certainly more concerned with money than their residents. I have praise for the front line workers that are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated by management. The entire facility is understaffed for about a year, as told to me , multiple times, by staff AND managers Karen and Mark. Yet, they still host tours for new residents while they are not able to keep up with the care that they are already paid to provide to current residents. They regularly serve hotdogs, pizza, and other prepackaged foods. They have bleached or lost many clothes. Their idea of activities are passing out a daily flyer or having residents watch Dean and Friends ALL DAY on TV. They claim to have personal relationships with residents and accommodate each ones needs. Yet, they cannot even keep track of Mom's hearing aids and phone. They put on a nice show with furnishings and descriptions on the website. But they do not live up to their claims. WAAAAAAY overpriced.
My dad was at Sunrise in memory care . The staff was amazing . No matter what time of day it was my dad was always clean and shaven. The staff kept the memory care residents engaged were very knowledgeable about what interested them . I felt like this was home and would recommend it
Today is the one-year anniversary of my dad's ( John Corazza) passing. Over the course of his illness, he had many short and longer stays at several SE MI care facilities and I can say HANDS DOWN, Sunrise of Shelby was the absolute best facility. The staff treated him so well..when he wasn't eating, the chef made a personal visit to try to find out how he could help, etc. This is one of many examples of showing how they care! Our extended family visited often, and at each and every turn, w were welcomed with warmth and compassion. Thank you so much. You all are the best of the best.
My Mom has been a resident at Sunrise Shelby for the past year. My siblings and I have been extremely happy with her care in these trying times of the pandemic. The protocols they have in place, though difficult have kept here safe. They have not had one case of covid 19 among the residents. At the same time they have endeavored to keep things as "normal" as possible. They have become my Moms family in our absence, and we really appreciate all they have done in these difficult times.
My father was a resident for over a year. Our experience was nothing short of excellent. The staff who cared for him were kind, thoughtful, and loving. He was in the memory unit, where conditions change daily and maintaining the highest quality of life for the elderly requires skills that were beyond our family; but not for the team at Sunrise. To those who face similarly difficult times, I wholeheartedly recommend that you visit and consider Sunrise. My family agrees and I am sure my dad would too.
Horrible place to work or send your loved ones I was there for about a month and I quit most of the staff are untrained and just rude and nasty to each other and residents this company will rather keep employees that they have had for years than to look into complaints from new staff I am a very hard worker and love caring for people but I refuse to stay somewhere that doesn’t take pride in caring for the residents and please family members talk to your loved ones and ask them how is the care they receive you may be shocked!!!!!!!!!! Especially the ones that can’t really care for themselves (MIDNIGHTS ARE TERRIBLE JUST ASK)
I worked there for 8 1/2 years, they hire inexperienced , ghetto, right off the street corner staff. Very high turnover with staff because there wages are below what other facilities pay. And the people that are writing reviews are the staff there.. funny, very very over priced for the care that your loved one would get. I wouldnt take my pet rock there...
I am so thankful for these people! My mom was here and I am so glad this was the place we chose. Most every person that works here is absolutely amazing and are always willing to help solve any issues or concerns. From the ladies at the desk to all the nurses and everyone is between, I am very glad that we had them on our side with my mom! Thank you so much for everything!!
