I am going home today, 12/17/2021. I have been asking about my transfer schedule for several days knowing the17th was the day. Plans need to be made at home so family will be ready for me. So finally at about 10:00 my wife got a call that I would be home in an hour. I had heard nothing until she called me. Pretty poor communication when one doesn't know what is going on. I had tried to tell the staff I needed to wait until after 1:00 pm. No one from staff would even come talk to me. The nurses, CNAs and aides are so overworked they are doing best they can. Definitely understaffed. Food quality and quantity marginal. Bright spot is physical therapy and occupational therapy. They deserve 5 stars!  The balance of the operation barely gets 1 star. Improvements needed in communication, food service and staffing level. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

My dad was here in the peak of the pandemic when there wasn't any vaccines approved yet, so to say the least we were pretty concerned given his state. I am super thankful to say he was there for 30 days and not only did he get rehabilitation and got much stronger but the whole facility itself was able to keep the residents very safe from covid. My family and I thought that was pretty amazing since all we heard about on the news was covid ripping through these facilities . They deserve a lot of credit and a round of applause. Thank you for caring about the well being of my father and all your patients.

I transferred to Arizona from New Jersey after many years in the industry.  I was elated to find that in the 2 years that Genesis had owned this building it had been completely transformed.  The building is clean, odor free, the residents have quality food, quality therapy and programming.  The New Medical Director makes sure that the patients are getting good care.  This building is Covid free for the last 5 months.  They take their precautions seriously and it shows.  The building has a memory care unit with a director who personally evaluates all incoming residents and decides on what programming would benefit them.  They also have a specialty of Parkinsons disease and work with the Barrows Institute in partnership for caring for these residents.  This is not the same center it was prior to Genesis purchasing it!  Since Covid is finally on its way out I can't wait to see what else we will be able to achieve.  But for now I am really pleased with my decision to join this center and be part of its achievements.

I visit this facility as a vendor (doing hearing testing).  When we show up the facility is ready and waiting for us and patients are all ready to be seen for their appointment.  It is such a refreshing thing to go to a facility that has it together.  The patients are always happy and seem very well cared for and the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful.

A one-star review is generous.  My 98 year-old Dad was sent to this facility after hip surgery and it was horrible.  He was sent over on Friday - but they aren't fully staffed on the weekends, so they stuck him in a room and didn't even start talking about any kind of rehab for the first three days.  They finally scheduled a meeting with us to "plan a rehab schedule".  All they really wanted to discuss was how long they would be able to keep him there, and how to work the system once Medicare cut off payment.  Since they weren't really doing anything to help him begin walking again, we told him we wanted him discharged.  They weren't happy - no more $$$ once he's gone.  We took him back to assisted living and had home health care come there to do rehab.  Batter and more focused.  I wouldn't send a loved one, or even an unloved one to this facility.

One star is a gift. One nursing assistant for 70 residents. People are sitting in waste for hours. This business reported to the state numerous times for abuse and neglect. Many nurses on programs for drug and alcohol abuse. Please do not bring anyone you care about here.

I went for a scheduled interview. On arrival I was told by the administrator I came at a bad time. There was no interview process being no nursing director. The floors were dirty and staff proudly displayed their tattoos. I'll keep looking. After 18 years experience in hospital ER ICU and Telemetry I have witnessed the lowest levels of nursing.

Absolutely some of the most incompetent staff I have EVER encountered. The patients are not in there by choice, & it seems that neither are the staff...or so they act. People that are sick, ailing, or dying are miserable already. Why would someone whose job is to make the patients comfortable feel like it's necessary to make sure those poor patients hate the rest of their life? I would absolutely NEVER recommend my worst enemy there!!!!

Horrible. One of my parents was there for PT and rehab after a serious surgery. They treated them like a dog. They don't answer the call light for over an hour or more causing patients to soil themselves when they're are not even incontinent! I'd give a zero stars if I could. It's disgraceful and such a horrible way to treat the sick and injured. Terrible place!!!!

I was there for 10 days and never saw doctor they were giving me way too much medication. They adjusted my high blood pressure medicine but didn't send me home with a new prescription. When I left the facility I had no idea of the company that would be completing my physical therapy. I was told to look them up or Google them.

This place is terrible! Do not send your family, loved ones or even enemy’s here. Currently stuck here after getting sent here from the hospital. I am paralyzed from the waist down and have to be moved out of bed by staff. Woke up last week at 1am to getting stung by ants. My bed was infested with ants and it took them 40 minutes to get me out of bed. I had dozens of stings all over my lower body. The staff here is apathetic at best and the communication between staff and patients is non existent. I have had to call the facilities Main number over and over for assistance and still nothing gets done. I have been waiting for over a week for the social worker to get back with me to try to get things ready for my discharge. No one will return my calls. I have tried over and over and can’t get a call from anyone up the chain of command. Like I said, do not come here under any circumstances!

Sun city is a great facility!! There is no where else I would rather work or have my family member stay; the care provided is impeccable and the facility is beautiful. The new dementia unit is top-notch and adorable! The staff are all great and quick to assist in any situation. The COVID-19 protocols are updated and changed promptly as regulations change, even offering vaccines to patients and their family members. The teamwork is evident and the workplace culture is great! The residents love the wide variety of activities offered, including communal dining. Their happiness is a top priority and it shows!

I had a loved one in care in this facility and i would like to say that the staff and the facility itself were run in a excellent manner. The staff were always attentive and immaculate as was the care my relative received. From the day to day nurses all the way up to the Executive Director everyone at this wonderful care provider exceeded my hopes and alleviated all of our anxiety about having vulnerable elderly relatives under care especially during this pandemic. Truly staff at such places are under appreciated.

I lost my mother Barbara Hatch due to her contracting covid-19 while at the Sun City Health and Rehabilitation facility (proven via hosp records). I might also add I worked there, and subsequently quit when my mother died, so I saw everything going on. My Mom was neglected, abused (emotionally and mentally) by a certain staff that I reported numerous times to DON (Director of Nursing) as well as CED (Center Executive Director). I have names, copies of text messages and snapshots of conversations to prove everything including one from CED saying we needed to stay on budget, so staff was cut. I had tried to resolve the issues of staff (RN's, NA's, Center Director Dr. and support staff) NOT wearing PPE correctly by speaking to the DON *AFTER* my mom had also asked her and staff to don gown/ gloves etc. I then was spoken to in my office by Center Executive Director saying the PT assistant heard I was telling people "he gave my mother covid and was mad". TOTALLY false, I never said that- and had no clue who he was even as I told CED- my mom was not even dx when I told staff they needed to wear PPE correctly. This was in Aug, four days PRIOR to my mother contracting covid-19, how would I have known where she got it from? There is so much more- PPE Not worn, mental abuse, (pictures of sores on my mom from her having two showers and three bed baths the WHOLE 3 months she was there (*I began bathing her after I worked all day and helped her) medication not given on time (3 hour waits some days for pain relief post full reverse total shoulder replacement ), NOR some meds ordered (I have Omnicare's full report) and being told to use a depend and that fluid was going to be restricted if my mom did not stop drinking so much (I was there when Dr U spoke with the RN in front of 4 other Rn's on this). My mom was fully cognizant, used a toilet in her own home and lived on her own, they just had one staff to help 19 patients- or staff was out all smoking together on the patio. My mom also did not receive ANY PT for 3 weeks- and she was a TFA (trans femoral amputee) so laying in a bed for three weeks, caused major muscle loss in her remaining leg. (Yes, I have proof of this too). I had to leave my home, driving to the center the last night I saw her in person alive and have her transported via ambulance (who also reported center staff was not helpful and had to take a report from me)- nursing staff that night did NOTHING to help *AT ALL*, though I called in one male nurse so he could see the soaked Depends and sheets that she was laying in as she spastically moved around. The CNA's were crying (two of them) saying that was not normal for my mom, asking what was wrong. I am sad I lost a great career, but more sad I watched my mom take her last breath- ALONE- via zoom, as blood came out of her mouth. I did not quit for 'personal reasons' as the center keeps saying. I quit because my mom (who ordered her Christmas outfit and the great grand babies presents via her tablet) died, horridly after being vented on her 75th birthday. I hope you guys realize you destroyed an amazing woman. Maybe next time listen when a patient (who retired from Boswell Hospital) tells you that staff should be wearing PPE correctly. PS_ yes that is staff writing "good reviews" to raise Google stars. Good catch to whoever wrote that. I am signing with my name, for I have no fear. I have solid proof of what I am saying. Genesis, you know how to contact me if you want to see what I am speaking of in my mother's case. She was billed privately (which is a joke), which was submitted to be paid via Insurance. As the bible says, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's" but I have faith that God sees everything. *Denise Childs*

Hi!After spending a month in a hospital, I was transferred to Sun City Health & Rehab for further recovery!I soon found out that this facility is professionally run, the staff is extremely friendly and all are well trained professionals. My room was spotless when I arrived and was cleaned every day as were the common areas of the facility! The floors actually glowed! My two physio-therapists were demanding but I could tell that they had my best interest at heart which made me bear down and do the exercise routines they had planned out for me!They were true professionals and knew what was best for me to do for my recovery. The nursing staff were also professionals and treated me with respect and caring mixed in with a little compassion! Their routine visits to check on my welfare were much appreciated!Overall, I give this facility a five star rating! It runs like clockwork. I knew when a nurse was coming by to check on my well being, when a doctor was doing his rounds, when the food cart was delivering breakfast, lunch and dinner and when the therapists were arriving! My utmost thanks to all!Oh ya, the food was actually good!

I would not recommend this facility! My father was placed there after a knee replacement and came out worse off than when he went in. They were suppose to do rehab at least twice a day and only had rehab maybe 2-3 times the entire time he was there (10days). My dad would push his nurse button to have someone help him use the bathroom and it would take them an hour to come. He actually soiled himself once because he couldn't wait any longer. They kept using the excuse they were short handed, but you cannot neglect people's needs and health due to a "lack of help" - then hire more help or don't take so many patients. They definitely made you feel that they were just trying to fill beds and make $$$. I regret to this day that we put him there and hope no person has to go through they lack of care that he received.
