Employee Reviews for Hawthorn Senior Living in Oxford, Florida
3 out of 5 stars. Based on 3 reviews
Employees at Hawthorn Senior Living in the Oxford, FL area have mixed reviews about their experience. Many find the application process and overall management to be easy and mostly nice. However, some employees have noted that the scheduling system is still done on paper and could be automated or online. Additionally, some residents have complained about the housing. In terms of the hours of operations, employees find them to be good. However, they have noted that the menus are repetitive and they have served the same meals multiple times in a short period of time. At the Steeplechase location, employees have noted that the new managers are by-the-book egomaniacs who like to threaten termination at the drop of a hat. Housekeeping is pushed to the limit with unreasonable standards and employees are expected to do more than just housekeeping. Employees have also noted that the managers don't always take care of issues that are reported and that corporate stands behind the managers and ignores evidence that employees may have against them.Employee Reviews for Hawthorn Senior Living
3.26 out of 5 stars. Based on 297 reviews
Employees of Hawthorn Senior Living generally report that the executive team is top-notch and care about their staff. However, there is a lack of transparency from upper management and regionals, and employees feel overworked and underpaid. Employees also report that shifts are short and the pay is low, and that they are often asked to do a lot of manual labor. Advice to management includes paying better, hiring more staff members, showing more compassion and understanding, and providing better technology. Employees also suggest that management should try to remember the why and be a blessing to someone each day.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you agree to our Partner's Terms of Use. I have lived here almost a year now and never looked back. The best decision I have made in quite some time. This is truly like a big family. Staff from management to housekeeping and everyone in betwen goes out of their way to help in any way they can without exception. Ms. Lauren Wyman was my first contact and she treated me like a daughter would, and still does. I can recomended this place very highly. Some of the friends I made have been here 8 and 7 years and still like it.
My aunt lived at Steeplechase for a long time. Recently she passed away and this past week going there to pack her things and get things situated was very difficult. The management at Steeplechase made it even more difficult. There was one person in particular Darcy who was a nightmare. It’s all sunshine and rainbows when our loved ones move in. They should be extra “empathetic “ when our loved ones pass away as well. I would never send my mother here and I’m only sorry to see this after my aunt passed away that the environment was this awful.
I visited my Grandma about a month ago and was able to tour Steeplechase. What a beautiful facility with very kind and caring staff! They truly treat her like she is their family. The staff was following all proper protocol regarding covid, wearing masks, social distancing and limiting guests. My Grandma really enjoys it there. They have done a fantastic job keeping their residents active and engaged during the pandemic, something that is difficult for many facilities to do! Thank you Steelplechase :)
My 87-year-old mother can't say enough good things about the care she receives from the staff at Steeplechase in Oxford. From the management team to the housekeeping staff to the high school kids who work there - everyone is very caring, conscientious and professional. During these especially trying times they have done everything reasonably possible to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents. Mom really enjoys the food, which is always served hot. My sincere thanks to everyone there for the care and friendship they have shown Mom.
I have been here since August, 2020. Widowed for 11 yrs & needed oxygen 24/7 since Dec 2019. It was time to get help with meals, etc. Steeplechase was the best decision I could have chosen. Management, waitstaff & most residents are great. Meals are very good. Other services offered are a huge help to those of us in poor health & elderly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for independent living.
I am an Assistant Manager here and I absolutely love my new family! This was a completely new career choice for me and I couldn’t be happier with my decision! From the staff to our residents we are surrounded by the very best and most caring, loving and compassionate people! Here is our over 100 year old helping me decorate our community tree! We love our residents!Come on out and we will introduce you to our beloved family!
Rented a Studio from Steeplechase and can not believe the kind treatment from my first e mail inquiring to arranging to move. Laura was the first contact. A daughter could not be more concerned and kind. Then there are James and John( hope I have names right) and their wifes who are all kind beyond..... much fun and laughing during the sign up process. Wonderful place, can't wait for two more weeks to actually move in. Visited with my grandaughter and she was impressed too. She works in a rehab/ nursing home and sees a lot of older people. Here everyone passing by seemed happy and cheerful. I think I hit the Jackpot 🙂
Never been there, and will never put a relative there. I got run off the road by a man on a cell phone driving the Steeplechase van. I called in, the receptionist blew me off saying "oh that's not our driver, it's just somebody who borrowed our van".OK, let's just assume that the receptionist actually knows who is driving their van that day (doubtful), do you really want your loved ones in a facility that just loans their vehicle out to any idiot?
