Employees in the Reno, NV area have mixed reviews when it comes to working for Holiday Retirement. Many employees appreciate the wonderful residents and free meal and uniform that they receive. However, they have expressed dissatisfaction with the management, citing that they are dishonest, lack integrity, and are more concerned with making money than the well-being of their employees. Employees have also noted that the turnover rate is high, and that employees are overworked and often don’t call in due to worries about what they will come into the following day. Additionally, employees with more experience are not paid as much as those with less experience. 2.81 out of 5 stars. Based on 1000 reviews
Employees of Holiday Retirement generally have positive things to say about their experience. They enjoy the residents and building staff, and appreciate the bonus structure and autonomy they are given. However, they also report issues with pay, long hours, lack of effort from upper management, and lack of growth opportunities. They suggest that management should improve benefits, hire and train good people, and be more realistic about rates. They also suggest that management should be more understanding of employees and show genuine care for them. Finally, they suggest that management should focus on the residents and staff rather than how much money they are making.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you agree to our Partner's Terms of Use. My family and I recently had to make a decision about where my independent but aging mom should live. Sky Peaks has a been a PERFECT solution. My mom is on a fixed income and we were amazed that she can afford such a nice facility. It kind of reminds me of an Embassy Suites in terms of layout. The all inclusive monthly price includes everything but her land line. Here's the list: three [delicious!] meals a day, all utilities, activities [you haven't lived until you've seen a pack of seniors Wii bowling!], shuttle bus, and housekeeping. Pets are welcome too! My mom has been particularly impressed with the 24 hour coffee bar and snacks. There is a manager on premise 24/7 and this team clearly has a great affinity for their job and the residents. My mom feels safe and cared for... it has been a huge relief to find such wonderful accommodations!
This facility has a high turnover rate for employees. I don't know why, but the lady named Leigh who was the previous activities director seemed to LOVE the residents. I loved her! She loved me (and my music) But the new director, Shannon, does not have good social skills, to say the least. After Leigh left I continued to play music there and I connected greatly with the residents. They loved me and I loved them. After the best solo performance I think I've ever done, Shannon informed me they were over budget and had to cut me back on pay and hours. The way she approached it was unfriendly and hurtful. I asked her if she has asked the residents what THEY wanted. Apparently that did not matter to them and their budget. Tried to call the Corporate office and they simply turned it back over to the local facility. Not good! I am awaiting a decision as to the resolution of this issue. Once resolved I will update this post. I will be honest.
Staff treat employees poorly. Management is lazy and will cut your hours or even fire you before Letting you know or telling you why. Residents get put last on their priority lists. All they do is complain about residents behind closed door. They give bird size food portions. Never send your loved ones here. This place is a nightmare.
The worst possible place for me. The.food is not yummy it's horrible, I experienced stomach problems 4 out of 7 meals. After 1 month stopped eating in dining room. Many things were misrepresented including available ttansportation, median age of residents and types and frequency of activities. The washers and dryers were so filthy I could not put my clothes inside. The "maids" appeared to have no experience with housekeeping so my " apartment" was never truly cleanPossibly worst of all was the wait staff. These people were rude, condescending and on several occasions actually mean. When a resident at my table expressed disappointment that the promised "entre" wasn't available for dinner the wait person actually said " yeah, well, dreams are broken every day here". I was appalled. I put everything I had into moving there but the environment was untenable. And, by the way, the staff and residents were openly bigoted. I left after 5 months with the feeling that being out on the street might be better. Do NOT send your loved ones here or choose this place for your retirement!
