WORST company ever! They were recommended by Kaiser hospital. There were two "Doctors" assigned who each came by, once, since January. Despite repeated phone calls the last three weeks of his life, that he was using more oxygen and getting worse, no Doctor came by, nurses kept same schedule of 2-3 visits a week and when he was dying, I had to call 911 and give him CPR. Very traumatic and not peaceful at all for him or us. Despite calling Hospice and putting the phone up to him so they could hear how labored his breathing was, we were told the nurse would be here in an hour and a half and no direction was given to us. The hospice nurse showed up in an hour and half all right, an hour an half after he died. Hospice is supposed to be there when he dies. None of that should have happen. Totally inept hospice that only cares about money and not the patient or their families. Lawsuit?
I am beyond grateful for Silverado. They helped my mom take care of my grandmother during this difficult time. They were very tentative and caring. If we had any questions they were always more than willing to answer them. Even after my grandma passed, they called my mom to check on her and our family. My mom is forever grateful for the staff from the administration to the nurses and everyone in between. We thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. Sincerely Torres Family.
I have been working here for over a year and see, firsthand, how amazing each team member is and how much they truly care. I got my start at Silverado Hospice and came back after 10 years because I knew they were committed to excellence. I am grateful to work amongst such loving people and am inspired each day.
Silverado Hospice was excellent in every way when my husband died. When he came home from the hospital, a nurse was with me for 3.5 hours making sure that he was able to breathe peacefully. I can't say enough for the initial social worker who listened intently, to the nurses who guided me through the end of life time for my beloved. I am uplifted by their expert help and guidance. Thank you, Debora
STAY AWAY IF YOU DONT WANT TO DIE RIGHT AWAY! Save your self the trouble and stay away from this hospice. The main factor they will consider for your care is COST. They won't give you any services that are necessary for life -like infection care! Extremely unskilled nurses and not even RNs mostly LVNs will visit just to show that your patient is still alive and breathing but checking vitals. Seems like they expect you to just be almost dead and unable to object to anything they do to do. They just want to push pain meds, almost injected my patient with air bubbles while changing the tubing for her IV!
Both my mom and dad passed away at Silverado memory care center. We also used Silverado Hospice for both mom and dad. The caregiving and detail to service and comfort was amazing. The nurses and head administrator, Sammy Hassan, also gave me their personal cell where I can call them 24/7 even when they were not on duty to make sure my parents were ok. My mom passed away few years ago, and about a month ago I wanted to talk to Silverado about possibly placing my dad in silverado hospice mode. To my surprise, Sammy drove all the way from Silverlake to Torrance immediately and spend few hours talking about my dad and help me through this tough times. My dad passed away last week and Sammy and his team was there again when I needed them.
I feel strongly to speak for the dedicated men and women of the Silverado Hospice team who helped our beloved 89 year old mother all the way through the end at the Monrovia Garden Health Center when she passed away on 04-29-2018. Our Mom did not suffer much discomfort due to Hospice skillfully managed medication. This was our first experience with Hospice Program. For 10 month, the Silverado Hospice helped us by beginning in searching and placing her at the Monrovia Garden. They also helped her weekly care, and immediately reduced her medication from 15 to 5. They not only held my hand, the caregiver, every step of the way, but also all became my best friends with loving compassionate emotional supports. I would not have survived as well without their all around assistance. We strongly recommend the Silverado Hospice to any terminal ill patients and their family. Trust me, as a caregiver, you do not want to travel down this road on your own. Dr. N Chien and his team are made up by many top notch Professionals, including nurses, nurse aids, social workers, and many unsung hero's in various capacities. Team leaders like, Helen, Tim and their members like Junko, Kara, Rose, Jesus, Lola.... (too many to mention) were not only thorough, compassionate, and easy to work with, but each of them went out of their ways to listen to our needs and to look for ways to work out any problems. The Team and team members together even send us a sympathy card after our mother passed. How sweet and thoughtful was that? I was also so touched that they even followed up with me, the caregiver, with "Bereavement Support"! Finally, I wish to specially thank Helen for being there as soon as we needed and at the bedside with us all the way through the end. I saw the tears in your eyes, while you made her as comfortable as you could did to ease Mother's fight for her last breath. I also saw you wiped your tears and ready to continue to help others with their final journeys. I salute you and what you do everyday! You have made the toughest journey just a lot easier (more than we realized)! Thank You all and God Bless!
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!! It's hard enough my aunt was in hospice but this company made it worse. Please save yourself the trouble and avoid working with them. Their customer care and overall system is the lowest management I've ever encounter. Traumatic experience with this company. Hope this helps!
I feel terrible that Toni G had a bad experience with Silverado. My family had the opposite experience last december when my father was in the hospital. When the time came to bring him home for hospice, we had no idea what to expect or what the process would be. We called several different hospices. The people at Silverado were great on the phone in our initial conversation. When the representatives came to his hospital room the next day, they couldn't have been more compassionate and explanatory. We knew nothing about the process, and they explained everything. The nurse in charge of his case, Lindsey Mendez, was beyond knowledgeable and capable. She ordered everything my father needed on-the-spot (hospital bed, medications, oxygen, wipes, you name it) and it all arrived within hours at our house. They also sent a nurse to the house named Samantha O'Farrell, who was amazing with our father. He was having an issue with his catheter tube, which even the doctors at the hospital couldn't quite figure out, and she identified the problem right away. The only slight issue we had was immediately rectified. One of the caregivers who came to our house to bathe my bed-ridden father lacked any confidence and seemed inexperience. We sent him away and called Silverado. They apologized and immediately sent a caregiver named Creche Shaw, who was the most wonderful, gentle, experienced bath-giver ever! I would recommend Silverado to anyone I care about. Bringing a loved-one home for hospice is extremely overwhelming. It's also very confusing, and the hospital was no help whatsoever. We were lost until Silverado stepped in and guided us. I wanted to write this review after he passed, but it was tough getting the words out right away. My family and I really can't thank them enough.
Do not use this chain! Horrible patient care! Do not leave your loved ones here! Why would you risk horrible care for someone you care about? My grandpa had the worst time here as she was getting sicker and sicker and she was unattended to for a long period of time. They only care about your money. If you love your close family members, explore other options in the area.
Silverado is a class act -They answer the phone on the first ring -They are incredibly professional and moreover compassionate and caringIt’s so rareEspecially during this time in LA.My husband and I are in Chicago and trying to manage everything from across countryWe had a horrible experience with another small hospice company -They were not professional and called us at mid nite one night and told us they were closing permananently immediately - abandoned my mother in law -Gave us no resources and they just didn’t careSilverado is exceptional !
