Serenity Living "A Touch of Home" As a Retired United States Marine veteran with 3 deployments to Iraq I would never think this would be acceptable in the United States of America. I would not recommend based on how they treat their workers. They have overworked my fiancé since the first week. She applied to work part time and was hired under that but has been filling in for months for workers that quit as they can not retain workers. She has been well over 50 plus hrs a week. She is the hardest working woman I know and has genuine love and compassion caring for people. She has done a fantastic job and has always gave her best. I wish they didn’t take her for granted and valued for all the hard work she puts in. I personally spoke to the owner tonight in person and expressed my concerns that my soon to be wife is exhausted and burnt out. She has not been heard as she repeated informed the management about her being hired as part time. She has been responsible for caring for peoples lives that couldn’t care for them self and it’s not healthy for the ones who have paid to be there needing assistance. He he said “that’s life” and dismissed the fact I was speaking with him on how important it is to provide quality care for the people trusting them. I was shocked at his respons. This place isn’t his construction company. And from the Leader/ Owner of this home he never showed concern and spoke like he was aware but wasn’t worried. The situation that i brought to his attention especially as he is the owner of 5 assisted living homes locally. His lack of care shown was very concerning to me. He said that he was aware of situation that was brought to him then owner’s attention personally. “That’s life” response is Unacceptable that he disregarded my fiancé as she was under a lot of pressure because of not being heard. The people needing the care deserve to have a more compassionate owner that acts concerned when he is being told the implications that could have on his paid customers. I said this was not sustainable and was stressing his his hardest worker out which effects all involved. It should be a big priority to value his employees when they are working 110hrs In two week span.when that wasn’t the hiring agreement. His employees care for peoples lives and he is getting paid for that. It’s unfortunate to see him blow off the problem and call me buddy when he needs to fix this. It was very sad and unfortunate that owner Completely dismissed concerns brought to him by his employee. I had to address him because of the people in need of care and I became worried as she was stressing about everything. A burnt out employee that has been covering shifts as full time rather than her part time job agreement. It has many times brought up. He should fix this asap. He owes his worker that he lost an apology for how he spoke to her in general. Myself personally would not bring my family members there knowing and seeing how the owner responded and showed he didn’t value her responsibilities of caring for people that pay his company. She has been going above and beyond her position of part time showing up with love and commitment to the residents. I also would not recommend anyone I cared about to go there. That’s my opinion in this based on these ongoing problems. Also hearing how then owner was completely comfortable speaking to his hired staff as is she was not value and replaceable. I am disappointed that this is a place in my home community. She had put her all into it and was spoken to as if she was a child. She has more years in the field then he does owning the facility. But its his company eveyone is able to fix and recover but you must Treat people with respect! “That’s life” response as in sick it up is concerning and speaks of lack compassion and care for others.
