Hospice is a time to celebrate life and all that comes with it, including death. Hospice care emphasizes making the most of life, rather than prolonging it. Please look at the second review. It was not Pruitt Calhoun Hospice it was a community in Rome. This is a remarkable group of people who have hearts of gold and true Servant's hearts. If you ever have a problem you can speak with the Administrator there and she will see it is fixed if it is fixable. They have a great staff as well and I don't believe it is fair to cause their score to be lower when the second review was not about the group in Calhoun.
The team at PruittHealth Hospice first visited, I thought, " Oh great. Here come a bunch of people I dont know, judging my family and myself. And harping on my passing, not really understanding, or caring if I live or die. " WoW! Was I surprised! Everyone is very friendely. My nurses, Miss Vanessa, and Miss Angie are such a wonderful people! Very sweet and caring, and do their best to make sure I understand my plan of care, answers all my questions, welcomes suggestions, and listens to my family. I thought they would be focused on my passing, but I honestly think they would cheer if I didn't need them anymore! Miss Natalie keeps us in stitches, but still remains the ultimate in professionalism. Thank you, everyone at the Calhoun Office. You guys are the best!!
Let me start out by saying this review is for the Rome location beside Mount Berry mall. My mother age 75 was transferred there from Redmond hospital for in-house physical therapy. She is a fall risk and was told not to get off the bed without assistance. I asked them for a walker to put beside her bed so she could get to the bathroom and they told me she couldn't have one until they started the therapy to see where she was at. That was fine. She was instructed to use the call button when she needed to go. She rang the button twice during the course of the night. The second time she was told by a CNA that they were short handed and couldn't run in there to her every 15 minutes. Long story short, they let her go all night sitting on the edge of the bed in pain because they didn't have any of her meds in stock! She told Neesa a nurse or aide there that her daughter would come get her in the morning, Neesa told her and I quote "Good because we didn't want you here anyway". I was very put off from the start, as soon as you walk in it smells like you are walking through a sewer. Carts and carts of poop and pee linens lined the hallways. In the room where they put my mother the toilet had poop smeared all over it. It looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in months. There was brown "stuff" all around the hinges of the toilet seat. I am so very disgusted and sad that my mother even had to stay that one night!! We went and got her first thing this morning. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's an afterthought to this franchise! Btw when you finally figure out how to get in the drive way of the facility, watch out for the pot holes! This place has been seriously neglected and I'm afraid the patients who are left there are treated the same way. I know some people have very limited options, but if you can, find another place to care for your loved one if you can't do it yourself.Sincerely...
