Poet's Walk is outstanding! My Mother has been here for about 8 months and I could not be happier about the care she is getting. My Mother has Lewy Body Dementia and the entire staff is highly trained on how best to interact and care for her as well as the other residents with different dementias and Alzheimer's. Everyone there is warm and caring to my Mother. And I mean everyone; whether they are a nurse, personal care assistant, front staff, cook, hairdresser or housekeeper, they treat her with warmth and caring and always make her smile. They know that each memory care patient has different needs and have their own program to help identify and tend to those needs (for example, who needs a hug, who needs some structure, who needs some music, etc.). I also like that they have a "Family Ambassador" which is someone you can contact with any questions, concerns, information, etc. and you can be sure they will coordinate with everyone else on staff. I have also been extremely happy with the nurses who communicate a lot with me and let me know if there are any changes or concerns with my Mother. There are also lots and lots of activities; when I go to visit my Mom, just about every resident is in the central living area doing activities, watching old movies, or just visiting. While they all have their own nice apartment/room, most of the time they are all in the central living area enjoying themselves. There are many, many more positive things I could say about Poets Walk and I am so happy that I chose this place for my Mom!
I went to apply as a RN and the receptionist was looking at me up /down asking me why was I there? I was sent by a good friend who informed me they needed help. I had my resume at and was ready to apply. The receptionist kept going in a side room while talking to me and came back to tell me they don't do walk ins. Her response to me was you can apply on indeed "if" we're hiring. Needless to say I decided I dont care to work with people who judge people by the way they look. Praying for those who have to deal with this type of behavior. I love being a care giving. I will gladly take my services elsewhere.
Decent food. Gentle care. But lots of unfulfilled promises. Overworked RN staff. Poor control of medications, especially "controlled substances". Don't be fooled by employees reviewing the wonderful place they work. Tried their 30 day trial period for 23 days. Now we're getting billed for $10,477.55 of undocumented charges. Still waiting for refund since June 10, 2021.
Granted I know the pandemic is hitting everyone, but I was treated horribly. The receptionist was taking a personal phone call while I waited 20 minutes just to ask for information and she got up and went to the back. Another lady looked at me with an ugly look and walked straight to the back without asking if I'd been helped. She also was saying something about employees being lazy, but clearly look at herself. You've lost my business and I will not be referring patients to you.
Poets Walk was the most kind and caring place for residents. They took the time to learn about mom, and found ways to interact her that gave her purpose. The activity directors created custom activities to engage each resident. I could not have given her a more dignified, social environment. She loved the onsite salon and nail polish activities. Her life continued to have purpose and she had fun while there. Mom made new friends and was safe. They took excellent care of my mom, and helped educate myself and my family about caring through the journey.
