My experience with Orchard Park is really great. Maybe some changes have been made since the last reviewers. Tim went in after a hemorrhagic stroke. The staff was really welcoming and attentive upon arrival. Each day there, he was a bit better. The wonderful Physical, Occupational and Speech therapists took a man who couldn't hold his head up or transfer without a lift, ate blended diet due to swallow issues, and needed two helpers to get dressed, or use restroom and you all helped him turn around and come back from the stroke more than we had anticipated. Any time there was a question or concern it was addressed in a timely manner. The staff worked very hard to be sure he was kept clean, meals were warm, and his requests addressed. Tim feels he really has some new good friends there. I would totally recommend Orchard Park and their wonderful staff. We want to thank Melissa the Director, the door greeters with their big smiles, the Social Workers (Elsie, you were great from the git go.) Summer, thanks for the guidance. The nursing staff and all of the Aids. I know he will miss each one of you. Thank you for being so instrumental in allowing Tim to improve enough to be home for the Holidays with his beloved dogs. He couldn't do it without each and every single one of you. Thank you from the heart!!!!

This place is terrible.  My mother in law went in 6 weeks ago for rehabilitation and is worse now then when she got there.  She is on her THIRD UTI and has 2 bed sores.   When issues arrived they didn't notify family and they had the nerve to take her phone away.  So sad to see she had to be taken back to the hospital again!!  A 1 star review is too kind.  She was sent there to get help and only got worse.  Absolutely sickening.  The state needs to get in there and see what's going on.

Do not even consider this as an option for someone you even slightly care about. You will be greeted by Madison as the admissions person and she is about the only good thing in this place. Don't let that deceive you. My MIL came to this facility after a long hospital stay for short term skilled nursing so she could return home. Orchard Park should not be allowed to use the word skilled or nursing in their description. It was a nightmare from the moment she arrived. I will give you only a few of the issues because the list is too long for a review.  She needed medications and they failed to tell the hospital that those medications would not be there until after midnight on her first day. One of those was a breathing treatment. When I called I was told "She's breathing!" When I explained that she had buzzed for a nurse to come over and over and no one came for well over a half an hour so what would happen if she stopped breathing, she replied, "We don't come in more than we have to and when meal trays are passed out they make sure they are all breathing. If its not during one of those times then she has a roommate!" As you can imagine that flippant attitude was the start of our nightmare. I immediately reported this to the social worker who then has an obligation to report. My gut tells me that report may not have been filed but I'll give them more time to file it!  We began to suspect that we were being told lies about her care and well being after watching  them all day and then getting reports that didn't match what we saw. The BP machine would show low BP so they would take it by hand and say it was fine ( when we got to the ER it was matching the machine). They couldn't even do the most basic things such as measure her drainage as required by the doctor that released her to skilled nursing (and I reminded them daily). They assured us they were but then two medical assistants who normally drained it slipped up and told us that none of them ever do it. They told us this as they were about to dump it without measuring and I stopped them. I made them get the nurse who told me she had measured an early bag. If one person is doing it and two aren't you can't possibly have accurate numbers. This, on top of so many other things sent us over the edge. While there complaining about this lack of care, she was again delivered a regular meal with a ticket that said low sodium (the required meal plan for her) along with salt packets. Yes, I have attached a  picture to prove it. This disregard for her health happened daily right in front of us and they always found a way to cover it. On this same day, we lifted her pant legs to our horror to see water retention like we had not seen before. We immediately called her real doctors and told them and they suggested we get her to an ER. We immediately scooped her up and left. Upon arrival at the ER the nurse and doctor both told us we had an ethical responsibility to report this facility. We are in the process of doing that. My MIL was admitted back to the hospital after leaving this place and we were told we were lucky we took her there when we did. I promise you, this is not a good place if your loved one needs more than a bed, salty meal,  and tv (the tv is pushing it since they refused to give her a battery for her remote until the following day). Please trust me on this, no one should be subjected to this lack  of care.

My 98 yr old father was sent here after a week in Allenmore hospital. Allenmore would not exercise him because they were concerned about being liable IF he was to fall so he lost most of his muscle strength to and mobility to walk with his walker. When he went to OP, he was unable to walk, get in/out of bed, slurred his speech among other things. He was placed in the East wing of the facility. The staff was a tremendous help. Melissa, the Admission Director was always pleasant and willing to help and even went out of her way to help setup an area for my dads birthday party. Bev, the Asst Business Office Manager was remarkably patient and full of knowledge and very helpful getting my dad set up with Medicaid. Angie C., Phillip Z., Margaret and Sheryll O. are great nurses and very knowledgeable and helpful. Jane in PT, did a great job with my father as well. After about 2 months, my dad was speaking clearly, able to get in/out of bed on his own, walking around 200' with his walker (with Jane next to him) and Jane even spent time with us, walking us through how to transfer him in/out of my Explorer the easiest way. We have unfortunately been to a couple care centers in the area over the past 10 years and this one, in my opinion, is the best ones we have been to. It doesn't smell, the floors are clean, the have different areas to sit and talk in, the grounds are well maintained. Even April at the front desk always greeted me with a smile and a cheerful, "Hello". Hopefully, we will never need to go back to a rehabilitation facility but IF we do, I will look/request here first.

My mom is there as a temp rehab resident after a major surgery 3 months ago in which this has been her third care facility since. Everyone here has been so accommodating, her level of care has been top notch.  She wasn't high maintenance, but if her call light was depressed for any reason they were there very quickly. The facility is clean and her wing (for temps) was quiet, and they make you feel at home.  I had a couple other options, but I'm glad my mom ended up at this one.  I could come and go as i pleased even late, so it was convenient.  The rehab/gym room was organized and clean, with everything needed to get residents there strong enough to go home.  The couple things I would change is adding a recliner in the rooms (or as an option.) I visited her every day almost all day at times and the chair there is uncomfortable.  I did buy a lounger camp chair which helped, but a recliner has always been available if a frequent visitor needed it at other facilities.  Also she had passed her PT/OT with flying colors fairly early but had to stay weeks longer due to a fistula and TPN so she needs to be urged to get up which I do when I can be there while unhooked from her IV. Her pains started up, that weren't there when she *had* to get up to exercise (and progress reported) so I know it's from her laying there.  I think encouraging capable temp residents to get up some even if it's not in the gym could be an added benefit and less need for hot patches. Lol I was a little confused on how to monitor her progress.  Other places, a doctor would come in almost everyday to check on her so I could get an idea of discharge planning and what my level of responsibility would be once she's home. I didn't know taking her to a doctor for follow up was possible myself/or necessary since it was always done for her (or my dad who was in and out of care/rehab homes for months after a stroke) since we couldn't take them anywhere ourselves.  Also i wouldn't be able to since her doctors are 2 hours north. So just a heads up to anyone who was clueless like me. Other than that, I can't complain.  It's nice and quiet, and welcoming.  Many food/shopping options a short drive away (and Whole Foods/metro market ) and a 24 hr fitness which i belong to that was just 10 min south in Lakewood. Although she's ready to go home (and so am I), it'll still be pretty sad to leave.  At 86 she can complain and will in a heartbeat to me, but she hasn't had many here.

I went in to pick someone up. The 3 staff were quick to offer assistance, friendly and smiling! When I returned to drop the gentleman off, staff greeted him in a friendly, caring and sincere manner. The staff in two areas really set a comfortable, caring and professional atmosphere. I carried stuff for the gentleman to his room, the rooms are spacious, bright/cheery, clean and attractively decorated/furnished. WOW!!

The gal at the front desk was awesome. Very helpful and accommodating. I felt welcomed for sure.My mother-in-law has only been in the facility for two days, so I am sure I will be providing another review regarding her stay and how she was treated after she comes home. Initially she is pretty happy with the daytime staff, and has not had the same opinion of the nighttime staff so far. Will follow up after her stay and let you know how her overall experience was. If it's like I was treated at the front desk all will be good. Thank you.

My grandmother stay has been so much more then I ever expected. She came in extremely weak, I thought she would never be able to return home. The nurses were extremely compassionate and gave us hope. The therapy department gave her encouragement and worked with her daily. She is able to return home. All of the staff made my family feel as though we were going through this together. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs rehab. They genuinely care about their patients and their family members.

Avoid this nursing home at all costs! I wish I would have taken pictures and videos to show you how gross and unprofessional this place is. There is no way the positive reviews on this facility can be real.My father-in-law recently stayed here and I can’t explain how nasty this facility is and how unprofessional its workers are. The restroom (located in the front lobby) needs a code to get in. You think it would be clean because it has a code, right? No! Toilet paper and chunks of hair were all over the floor, there was no paper towels and empty toilet paper rolls were placed in random spots around this restroom. The facility smelled like it hasn’t been cleaned or aired out and my father-in-laws bedroom was dirty. My father-in-laws bedroom had dirty towels, unclean floors and ants. There were even ants crawling on his bed!First impressions matter when a vulnerable loved one is in the care of someone else’s hands. Sadly, my initial impression was shock and disgust. I was required to wear a face mask and face shield but I witnessed TWO female workers not wearing their masks while in the facility and around others. One of the female workers was coughing uncontrollably and the other was talking loudly about how she is about to go to Las Vegas to get f***ed up (her words). She proceeded to cuss and did not care about us hearing her. A man ending his shift threw his hands up at a fellow faculty member and said, “Aight n**ga” as he headed out the door. This male worker then walked outside and got picked up by someone blasting their music. My father-in-law was miserable here. He would tell us the workers would take too long (sometimes an hour) to take him to the bathroom, fed him random meals (a plate of spinach and french fries), had attitudes that made him feel like a burden and so much more. They are supposed to take care of some of the most vulnerable members in our community. Their actions and the care of this facility showed me they aren’t taking it seriously. You guys…. I can’t make this stuff up!Hoping the health department, state, or someone important is able to intervene and clean this place up or shut this place down. The individuals in this facility sure deserve better.

Horrible place. Don't go.Administration only cares about the money from Medicare. One of the administration cared onlyabout leaving at 4. I think part of the problem was the administrator must have been channeling her inner Nurse Ratchet.I strongly recommend anywhere but this "skilled nursing facility" where money is king.I was worse after staying there. And that's skilled nursing?Tsk. Tsk.mind the resident/patient.If you can, don't go here.

This facility was closed due to covid quarantine on the first day after my friend was admitted. II was allowed to visit through the window. During this period, all the staff was friendly and helpful and he assured me he was getting good care Yesterday was the second day I was allowed to visit in person after opening to visitors again. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The physical and occupational therapy he is receiving has really made a difference, he is very hopeful and we see the possibility of him being able to return home at some point if his progress continues at this rate. Kudos goes to all these healthcare workers who work extended hours and still are able to remain diligent, kind and compassionate.
