Community Insights
This detailed information was obtained directly from the Lifestyle Advisor at Marshs Edge via email on Dec. 28, 2023.
Continuing Care Retirement Community
We are a Continuing Care Retirement Community which means that we have all levels of care including Skilled Nursing. Our Skilled Nursing has a medical doctor who makes periodic visits. The Retreat (assisted living, memory care and skilled care) is overseen by our Administrator who has an advanced degree and license in this field. We also have RN and LPN nurses as well as Med Techs and CNAs. All of these require a certification. Everyone in our Memory Care Center are Certified Dementia Practitioners. I would be happy to talk with you about any of the members of our team and give a broader background.
Safety
This is a gated community. Residents have their own clickers and the concierge desk has someone at the desk 24/7. We have a Well Watch Committee that is comprised of many of the directors and they discuss if there has been a decline in health of a member and discuss whether additional care should be suggested in the home or in another area of the community.
Transition to the Community
We have a Transition Specialist who coordinates the move of a resident. Once a resident has moved into the community they are welcomed by an Ambassador who is a member who helps with the transition as well.
Transportation
Transportation in the Glynn County area is free to our members. They would just need to book 24 hours in advance.
Dining
We offer a Flexible Dining Program in which $600 per person is included in their monthly fee and they can spend it for lunch, dinner or in our bar area. Should a member not use all of their "flex dollars" they would roll over to the following month up to a year. These dollars can also be used for friends and family.
Complaints
Depending on the issue, residents usually go to our Executive Director or the individual Dept. Head to address the issue.
Cost of Living
It could be considered higher than other areas in Georgia due to the fact this it is a tourist destination located on the coast.
Communication
Communication with members in the specific care areas is usually done an individual meeting with care staff and family and on a one on one basis.
Respite Care
There is a minimum of a one month stay in that particular level of care.
Pets
We are a pet friendly community.
Waitlist
We currently have availability in our villa apartments as well as the cottages; however, we do have a wait list for those waiting on a particular floor plan.
Vaccinations
Residents are able to get their Covid and flu vaccinations within the community.
Age in Place
Residents are able to age in place as long as they have the proper care they need. Marsh's Edge offers Home Health Services at an extra charge should a resident need additional help whether it's walking their dog, medication management or nursing needs.
Rehabilitation Services
We also offer Rehabilitation services to our members either in their home or in our care services areas. We have transportation services at our community; however, we do prioritize doctor appointments.
Restaurant and Dining Experience
We have a beautiful restaurant on campus and our members are welcome to bring guests. Our Dining committee designs our menus along with our Executive Chef that offers new options daily. Our Flex Dining Dollars program is designed to provide the best in dining, each Member receives $600 in Flex Dining Dollars (a couple receives $1,200) every month to use towards their meals. The monthly Flex Dining Dollars amount is sufficient to have 1 or more generous meals per day. However, if the dining plan isn’t used, it’s not lost, the remaining balance rolls over indefinitely.
Short-term Rehab and Skilled Nursing
We offer Short-term rehab and skilled nursing at our community, however it’s for current members. Therefore, if you started in Independent living, you would be able to age in place with us.
Respite Care in Assisted Living
We offer Respite Care in Assisted living.
Pet Friendly Community
