This place has wonderful veterans, however the staff is a complete different story. It's run by a bunch of staff that act like they are in high school. Cliques and not taking appropriate care of the veterans! The management turns a bind eye to what is happening. They are just as much a part of the problem. It all comes down to this, I have a veteran in my family and I wouldn't put my dog here, let alone him!
My parents have been in this facility for five years and I can tell you that our family has been blessed by their compassion, professionalism, attentiveness in caring for our loved ones. The staff from top to bottom has always been effective, helpful and understanding as continue to negotiate the challenging demands of support. Thank you everyone for fantastic service far beyond what can be seen in other nursing care facilities in Maine. God bless you all.
The staff is amazing, they take care of my stepfather with so much love and respect words can't describe they love I have for the staff. I walked into this place in fell in love with so many veterans. The love in there eyes is easy to see. I thank them for what they do every day I'm there.
My 91 yr old father-in-law was cared for with such kindness, dignity, and contagious joy during his stay here following a second hip replacement surgery. The nurses, CNA's, and LCSW were out of this world! Their gentleness and smiles eased his pain, and let him drift off to sleep grinning. They worked beautifully with our caregiving family, always with an inexhaustible compassion, generosity of time and spirit, and cooperation (very notably with the 17 yr old grandson caregiver). Never patronizing nor "too busy" to address our questions and his needs.I was impressed with the careful attention to detail that goes into every aspect of the veterans' care, such as food selections that remove challenge and frustration from the struggle of self-feeding. I appreciated the Occupational Therapist talking me through what she was seeing and working on with him. The LCSW worked so diligently to navigate and quickly coordinate his transfer of care when it was time. The residents themselves are a delight! Such endearing, happy souls -- I cried when it was time to leave more than once.Without hesitation, this is the place I wish for myself and elderly family to spend our final time when our needs can no longer be safely managed at home. THANK YOU Molly, Roberta, Bethany, and crew! You are precious to us! God bless you! with love from the Scotts
My family and I have volunteered at MVH Augusta, sharing music and visiting with the residents. I also visited MVH Augusta several years ago with a group a co-workers and had a great time sharing a meal with and visiting with the veterans. MVH Augusta won a national silver quality award, and it shows. These people simply care about veterans, and care about the quality of the care that veterans receive in their home.
I can't say enough good things about this place. My dad spent his final two weeks at this home and they treated him with such kindness and respect. The nurses were so professional and patient with him. When my dad's body was removed from his room, the veterans lined up along the hall and saluted and the nurses held their hands over their hearts. It was something I will never forget.
My husband Tom went to the facility after having a knee replacement for physical therapy. It was neat and clean and the staff were more then accommodating for all of Tom's needs. Every single staff member was fabulous! We loved all of them! It's refreshing to see people working as a team and enjoying what they do! Thank you for all you did for us! We are truly great full! Tom & Kelly Cummings
My grandfather was treated and neglected so badly in this facility that he couldn't talk about the experience without crying right up until the day he died. We wanted him out immediately but he felt that if he asked the right way, was kind enough, etc. they would understand and treat him better. Never happened. The next meeting we left with him and I will never let anyone else I care about enter this facility.
