This place started put pretty nice but once Covid hit things changed, you could not get in to see how your loved ones are being treated physically, my Mom had a sore on her backside you could see her pink meat. This happened once visitors were no longer allowed, I know if another patient in there who tell us there are times who won't get het bottom changed for HOURS after using the call button, again this is since Covid hit and no visitors, this place is HORRIBLE, they are not treating these people with the care they deserve. KARMA is coming for every one of them involved.
My husband spent 2 weeks in this rehab hospital. I went to tour ahead of time. I was impressed with the cleanliness and positive attitude of the staff. When we arrived, we were met at the curb by CNAs Laura and Cassandra who immediately made my husband feel comfortable. Staff answered call lights promptly. All staff was very attentive. Husband especially appreciated Yolanda and Lupe. PT,OT,And Speech were excellent. Staff seemed to be happy to work there and we were impressed by Fun Friday and positive messages every morning. As a RN who has worked in care facilities, I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone.
My 89 year old Dad fell & ultimately had to have hip surgery & was sent here for physical therapy. The entire staff were really good! The nurses & therapist were very gentle & patient with my dad & the wait time from the time my dad would push the nurse button to the time they would come in was always come pretty fast to see what he needed. The therapist would come in to get him for therapy if he was sleeping they would come back later when he was awake, but always got his therapy in! They kept the place clean. As much as I hated having my dad there because he lives with me & every day with him is a gift, but if I had to put my dad in a Home short term or long term & would definitely feel comfortable placing him here for quality care.
My Father entered the facility in July, 2017. He'd suffered a stroke, could not speak. Having worked at nursing homes in the 70's & 80's - I was concerned. The first thing I noticed was the typical smells (urine, chemicals, etc) were not present. The facility was clean and well tended (kudos to housekeeping and maintenance staff). Many residents enjoyed the large lobby area and all were groomed nicely. Various wings housed residents with specialized & varied conditions, ie: medical, dementia, rehab, etc. I must say everyone, including those from Hospice - not just those assisting my Dad, went out of their way to be pleasant & helpful. My Mother, myself and our family (we were there everyday) cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness, personal attention and care, not just to Dad, but all of us. They were amazing and provided the finest of care. Dad was there a week and 1/2 when he passed. If any death can be called "easy", his was. That was, in large part, due to the wonderful staff. I highly recommend this facility without hesitation.
This place really screwed my nana over well specifically the social worker Paula. The state basically rips nursing homes a new asshole when somebody checks out without medical approval and I was telling Paula at the end of the day we have to do what's best for my nana, if my family wants to hire private help nurse and PT and bring her home we would. THE NEXT DAY she walks in during the peak of my nanas morphine medication high and has her sign paperwork to transfer to a shit facility in oakhurst I'm guessing so that if we did in fact check her out that already shitty facility would get the blame and not madera. Also my nana got bed sores because nobody was really pushing her to do anything. She had a spine fusion surgery and the day she came home from it she fell and broke her tail bone of course there's going to be pain but you don't drug someone to the point they can't even talk. I've never seen my nana so incoherent in my life. The social worker seems to only care about keeping beds filled because when we did finally get her surgeons approval to discharge I'm told that they still won't be discharging her because the doctor on sight hasn't given approval. Hmmm funny Paula how you had a new answer every time I came to you fulfilling your previous requirements. She used the excuse that my nana couldn't be discharged because of bed sores. She wouldn't have had the bed sores if people would have done there jobs and pushed my nana more in physical therapy then getting her in her chair for about 10-15 minutes before they let her complaining get to them. Most people there are tired of there jobs and could give a shit about there patients. When you have about 10-15 patients trying to escape a day you know something's up. Anyways my nanas better off at Oakhurst where they give her physical therapy twice a day for two hours even though it's a very shitty facility. Whoever ends up reading this from that facility needs to investigate Paula's actions. Social workers are supposed to care about the well being of the people they serve not the money there making by keeping the beds filled or worrying about how the state will treat them if someone's family decides to discharge them. When my nana comes home you better believe we will pursue this matter. So sorry madera If you thought you could get rid of us so easily. You seriously screwed the wrong family
SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!! I FOUND OUT AFTER VISITING MY FATHER IN THIS PLACE FOR 2 MONTHS HE HAD AN UNIARY TRACT INFECTION . SO I GOT HIM A PHONE TO KEEP ME POSTED ON THE CHECK UPS .THE STAFF WAS TOLD ABOUT IT AND WERE AWARE OF IT. TWO MORE MONTHS GOES BY AND NOTHING WAS DONE. HE STILL HAD IT .MY DAD CALLS ME HE HAD PASSED OUT AND FELL .NO ONE CAME FOR 2 HOURS UNTIL HE CRAWLED INTO HALL WAY HE FELL TRYING TO GO TO THE BATHROOM AND NOW THE HE IS IN ICU BREATHING THROUGH A TUBE ON DIALYSIS ONLY 15% OF HEART WORKING FROM A INFECTION THAT WENT SEPTIC .AND ONLY MONTHS TO LIVE CAUSE HE AND I QUOTE THE DOCTER " HE GOT TO US TOO LATE " WOW WAY TO DROP THE BALL GUYS
My mother is a long term patient there. I tried calling tonight to get some info for an appointment she has tomorrow. The nurses are NOT answering the phone and when they finally do they act like they are transferring me to someone that can help but are sending me to another line that doesn't get answered. The night staff is rude and careless.
My friend had a stroke and stayed her, she hadn't showered in day and when they offered, 2 young guys were too happy to want to shower her.i this was at 4:00 I asked 3 times till 2 young girls said the would take he.i I brought her food which I reminded the girls it needed to be refrigerated it sat for5 hr before I THINK the put it away. Patients crying for help noisey, noises, don't answer the nurse call button. It was bad my friend just cried feeling worthless and uncredited for.
Was there for broken hip therapy not nursing home care treated like I was a long term patient at night hard ever checked on me lot noise to try rest had to beg to get enough to eat smart remarks when I wanted more food got dirria while there not enough food at breakfast ask for extra cup coffee said oh ha ve to go lichen
HOSPITALITY! It actually is here. On a short term stay, I met some of the best CNA teams ever! These people work so well together there is seldom a need that is not met immediately. My many thanks to Yolonda and Laura. These 2 women have spent the best part of their lives being a part of the life our elders live when placed in a nursing home. They train the younger ones and the respect and hospitality is real.Night shift however, needs an adult on their shift.
