My mom has been a resident at Hilltop for almost 3 years. From the first week of her arrival to this date, I am very confident that she is in good hands. Mom has dementia and sometimes she can be challenging. The staff that care for Mom are attentive, resilient, and patient. As a very visible and active family member, I know things aren’t perfect but neither is my household. My mom is safe and well cared for everyday. For that, I am thankful for each and everyone that are employed at Hilltop. You each have a role that contribute to the care for my Mom. I appreciate your daily sacrifices. Peace and blessings to each of you.
The director of admissions, a lady named Lisa, is extremely rude and arrogant and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to put their elderly parent. I had a terrible experience with this assisted living facility. Not only Lisa was rude but when I called to complain about here, everyone I spoke to defended her and actually lied about visiting my elderly parent at his current facility to do an assessment. I was considering transferring him to this facility. They told me they visited him but found out they never did.
The Hilltop caregivers have made my Dad feel safe and comfortable since he became a resident in April 2019. In the last several months, Dad recently moved to Hilltop's Memory Care unit and Hilltop's caregivers were always patient, kind and compassionate with my Dad. A special commendation goes to Nurse Dorothy who I saw display her exemplary caring, treating my Dad and his fellow residents as if they were part of Dorothy's own family. Hilltop's caregivers have been true stars helping my Dad cope with dignity in what has been a very difficult Covid year.
My parents have been residents of Hilltop for 1 year and 5 months. The last 12 months, because of Covid, have been the absolute hardest for our family. We have been so fortunate to have the amazing staff at HIlltop care for them. They love them, love on them, hug them, comfort them and care for them when we havent been able to. It is heartbreaking not to be able to physically be with our parents, but it has been such a blessing knowing that they are truly cared for and loved by the staff of Hilltop. For that we are forever grateful, Thank you all for everything you do!
My mother-in-law is a resident at Hilltop and we couldn't be more pleased with the staff and facility. The staff is friendly and engaged. We are confident mom is receiving excellent care! One of the care providers, Dorthy, contacts us regularly with updates on how mom is doing. What is particularly amazing is that we get our updates without even asking. Obviously, Hilltop is literally on top of it's game. The facility is updated and spotlessly clean. Thank you Inspirit for your terrific service!!
Initially, the staff checked on my loved one every two hours, brought a treat cart around in the evenings, took residents out on day trips and the food was amazing. We were very happy. Since selling the facility to Inspirit, that has all changed dramatically. There is high turn over, poor communication, limited coverage on the weekends and the food quality has plummeted. Very disappointing.
Think twice before you put your love one in this facility. There is lack of communication, nobody is ever around to talk to. When paying for extra care it is not done. A lot of turnover with inexperienced personnel. The room/bathroom/bed were not kept clean. We complained many times to no avail then we had no choice but to move our 93 year old sister in law to another assisted living where she is extremely happy now and where she is getting the best care that she deserves. I do not find pleasure in writing a bad review but we have been pushed to our limits. AND PLEASE CHECK IN TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR LOVE ONES ARE BEING PROPERLY TAKEN CARE OF.
I would have given 0 stars but google makes you give at least one!I was visiting my grandma last week and usually it goes extremely well; couldn’t complain. Well this visit made me want to pack her bags and NEVER look back! The aide was extremely rude and nasty with us, over water! The cup was dated for the day before so I asked for fresh water and she said “the sink is in the dining room and the cups are under the sink”Excuse me? I thought I was being punked. I got gram her new fresh water and ignored her. Well I had to stop her again to ask about a shower (was her shower day) and she said “that’s not my hall so she is not my problem”I left crying and IMMEDIATELY started looking for new placement. I did not remember her name but it started with a “A” she was very tall, manly type, female. I LOVE everyone there and it breaks my heart that my family have to even consider moving my grams because of her this aides actions but i can’t trust her if she treats us like that to my face; what does she do to my grams when no is looking.
I had my parent here and would not advise anyone to place their parent at this facility. They are short-staffed and my parent did not get the care they needed and we had constant problems with them. Most of the nursing staff is nice but management is not. They do not return calls and don't want to talk with you anymore you once your parent has been placed here. The lady that handles admissions is extremely rude.
I am so grateful for Hilltop and it’s amazing staff! My grandmother has received excellent care and I can tell she is so much happier knowing that she is always surrounded by people who care for her. Also, as someone who lives and works in DC I must say the drive up to Winchester to visit my grandmother is very easy and scenic!
Our father lived at Hilltop for a short time at the end of his life. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease and was very ill when he was admitted. He was treated with dignity and respect until the end. The staff were kind and sweet to him. Our family was so grateful our dad could have such kindness and Love.
This place is a great place, there are good people at heart here who will take care of your family. There are also great residents already living there, kind folks and kind staff. It was clean and smelled good. Beautiful on the outside just like the inside. The location is also convenient being in Winchester Va. Definitely give this place consideration.
Our parents, both with dementia, have been at this facility for almost 2 years. We have been extremely pleased with their care, and the staff has willingly worked with us to accomplish some tough issues, with a few still ongoing. The caregivers are patient and persistent in their efforts to lovingly care for our folks. They also are responsive to us when we visit the facility, as well as when we call with questions or to exchange information. I have always received a return call in a timely manner. I'm amazed with the number of residents, that the majority of the staff knows my parents by name, and many know us by name or recognize us when we visit. We experienced the transition in ownership, and while any change is difficult and takes time, we found the new "team" to be friendly and responsive to our needs. They have made changes, but have done so gradually so residents and families would have time to acclimate to the new services and routines. They have been conscientious to reach out to families, giving us opportunity to learn about new service providers and participate in the process.Hilltop has been the right place for our family. From our experience, we have highly recommended this facility to multiple friends & acquaintances finding themselves at this juncture in life.
I am pretty upset right now. My parents are at Hilltop House. A couple of weeks ago they gave Dad his evening insulin shot when dad was feeling tired. They never followed up to ensure he ate, so Dad's blood sugar plummeted and he had to spend days in the hospital. What kind of care is that? Mom has had a viral infection for the past two weeks, but Hilltop only filled her antiviral prescription today. Mom had broken her leg a few months ago while staying at Hilltop, and just got the cast off a few weeks ago. Now her PT is delayed for at least a third week because they failed to get her medicine. There are some nice caregivers at Hilltop, but basic medical care seems very much lacking. To follow up, I received calls from an owner and the manager. They said they were taking steps to improve the care, and it does seem much better for the last few weeks.
